In Thailand we haven't had local transmission of the virus since May 24 and we have had no lockdown for a few months now. We still have to wear masks in public, maintain social distancing and sanitise our hands & have our temperatures taken when entering many shops, markets, etc, but it really is a minor inconvenience to our lives. And surveys suggest the majority of people here would rather this than have the virus in the community. "The more, the merrier"- friends and food. Wow! a pretty good number of places to visit, especially with noodles and eggs in mind. Most of the time, the 'older restaurants' are a 'plus'. Some of that broth looked delicious, add shrimps/🦑 squid 😋... Very generous shop owner with the sweet pastries, and that tea looked 'strong' from here, tea buddy!!. American shops have their versions of peanut cookies and rice crispies. Here we add a "marshmallow" gooey addition to the crispy rice squares; guaranteed to knock one out, causing a snoring contest😪😴

Those dumpling noodles look delicious. Indeed, Thai foods are amazing -- the explosive flavors, aromatic smell, and fresh ingredients are something local and foreign tourists crave for. It's also wonderful that sidewalk stall get Michelin recognition.

No, I don't believe GoPros would take the same quality of video. This is why the top vloggers aren't using GoPros :) Have a look for some reviews on TH-cam would be my suggestion.

Regarding Ao Nang and Railay, both places are dependent on foreign tourists and there are currently none of those, so roughly 90% of businesses in those places are closed. The businesses that do open pay staff and bills for virtually no return, as there are very few customers. Many restaurants I've spoken to say they may get one table of customers per day. I made a video in Ao Nang a few months back: th-cam.com/video/d-0l_zPi07c/w-d-xo.html the current situation in Ao Nang is virtually identical to what is shown in that video. The government has not made any official statement about tourists coming back to Thailand, but their statements, when they come, are the only thing worth listening to.

It will happen for us one day as Trump would say "It will all disappear" lol..... Oh crap, I'm not holding my breath w/that fool. If you know what I mean. I'm not, I am listening to my God & my doctor & the leading doctors who are fighting for a vaccine for this deadly virus that has killed thousands that are high risk. Yes there has been people that have had this who didn't suffer as bad & it was just like getting a cold to them & the seasonal flu does kill people to. Most of the people are our elders & people of high risk. But the younger folks need to understand that all viruses live on our clothing. When I worked in the health field, lab tech, I would change my clothes as soon as I got home & put my shoes on the back deck. It's just that simple to protect our loved ones. If people would just think of others this crap would just go away.... lol... So let's all agree to just wear the damn masks & listen to the doctors WHO KNOWS THERE SHIT, SO WE CAN REOPEN SAFELY... Thankfully our government dealt the issue, and didn't ignore it, and we've had no cases in the community since May 24. You're 100% right, better to listen to the experts rather than listen to someone who seems to change the message he's sending fairly regularly. On the bright side masks have now become patriotic. I'm giving him the best give a women can give her hubby. 4 days of peace & quite. That's how long in be in hospital. Was supposed to have surgery last Wednesday, but hubby had something happened, he's had 6 other attacks like this one, where he has a fit where he can't breath & has no motor skills @ all. Loose all functions of his body. They can't figure out what's wrong either. If he has another attack on Dec. 1st. Then I know it's a sign from God not to go through w/my surgery... oh poop! Screws, rods, 2 new disks, & stem cells to regrow bone bc of the bone loss in my back. I'm scared as ever. Please keep me in your thoughts & prayers please. Thanks so much, Chris

Yes, in Thailand it is still illegal to be in public without a mask, and people are still wearing masks here. Videos you see where people are not wearing masks were filmed before March 2020 when that law came in.
Towards the end the egg noodles under look intensely good also the prawns on top, and of course your last meal...big portion indeed. Made me hungry, reminding me to get out the noodles, for a Beef strips dinner w/Korean teriyaki sauce, nice and hot with garlicky punch. You always leave me with ideas for snacks or main meals appreciate it very much. Another mini vacation for me thanx for having us look in again to your World. See ya!!😀

Yes, definitely some places do it better than others. The province "Satun" is famous for its teas and they are very good there. I actually made a video taste testing different types of iced teas and other Thai drinks three years ago today (July 20, 2017): th-cam.com/video/QWwyc-WW6vE/w-d-xo.html
yes Phuket had a lot of good spots ,unfortunately Krabi not yet. Around Khao Lak you have Khrua Nong, Krua Bai Thoey,Nai Mueang, Khrua Luang Then and before Thai Mueang you have Gop Pochana and just after bridge Ta Tuay,,,all in the Bib gourmand Michelin.
The Michelin inspectors have only been to Bangkok, Phang Nga and Phuket for the last 2 years, so only those locations so far feature in their recommendations in Thailand. There are dozens of great restaurants in Krabi, and after living in Thailand for more than 8 years, and having eaten in 19 of the provinces in Thailand, I can definitely say that many of the best dishes I've eaten, and most of the most beautiful restaurants I've eaten in, have all been in Krabi. I'm very glad I picked Krabi as my place to live :)

Food looks good but as in the second restaurant the cooking area always looks filthy in food stalls all over the world I noticed watching these videos, the food looks amazing but the unsanitary conditions is a huge turn off (even here in the US) are there any health laws that require cleanliness?
I Googled it and found this - "At present, the eatery business is governed by the 1992 Public Health Act. Under this law, restaurant owners must obtain government licences to start their business. They must comply with legal requirements on building sanitation, food safety, hygienic food preparation, and proper storage." You can Google it for more, I hope that helps.
Darren, I have followed you from the beginning and have always supported your work. But, I find eating out with your family irresponsible. Covid 19 has already killed about 1 million people. This is unnecceary risk. Take out is the way to go.
Thanks for the feedback and your concern. As of today, July 20, 2020, it has been 55 days since there was a single case of community transmission of Covid-19 in Thailand. There is no sign of Covid-19 in the community here and no one returning to Thailand from abroad can enter the community without strict quarantine and testing. The government here began implementing control measures in January, as back then Thailand was seen to be the highest risk country in the world after China. Thankfully their actions were effective and there is no Covid-19 here now, and strict measures are still in place to ensure that situation continues. It's a virus, it doesn't just appear out of thin air, infected people spread it. If I believed there was any risk to my family we would certainly not be making videos -- when there was a risk here we were not making videos, we were cooking at home, we were not even buying take out. Regarding Ao Nang and Railay, both places are dependent on foreign tourists and there are currently none of those, so roughly 90% of businesses in those places are closed. The businesses that do open pay staff and bills for virtually no return, as there are very few customers. Many restaurants I've spoken to say they may get one table of customers per day. I made a video in Ao Nang a few months back: th-cam.com/video/d-0l_zPi07c/w-d-xo.html the current situation in Ao Nang is virtually identical to what is shown in that video.

The government has not made any official statement about tourists coming back to Thailand, but their statements, when they come, are the only thing worth listening to.

I'm not, I am listening to my God & my doctor & the leading doctors who are fighting for a vaccine for this deadly virus that has killed thousands that are high risk. Yes there has been people that have had this who didn't suffer as bad & it was just like getting a cold to them & the seasonal flu does kill people to. Most of the people are our elders & people of high risk. But the younger folks need to understand that all viruses live on our clothing. When I worked in the health field, lab tech, I would change my clothes as soon as I got home & put my shoes on the back deck. It's just that simple to protect our loved ones.
If people would just think of others this crap would just go away.... lol... So let's all agree to just wear the damn masks & listen to the doctors WHO KNOWS THERE SHIT, SO WE CAN REOPEN SAFELY... PLEASE!! And there will be fewer deaths.
Just think about this....... More people who die, your taxes will probably be higher. Just think about it, it will soak in eventually.

And yes, we are blessed to be able to go out to eat here. Thankfully our government dealt the issue, and didn't ignore it, and we've had no cases in the community since May 24.
You're 100% right, better to listen to the experts rather than listen to someone who seems to change the message he's sending fairly regularly. On the bright side masks have now become patriotic.
Hopefully more people will start doing the right thing and life can return to normal for all of us sooner, rather than later.

Thanks for checking on me. Im going to have back surgery Dec. 2nd, my 29th wedding anniversary. I'm giving him the best give a women can give her hubby. 4 days of peace & quite. That's how long in be in hospital.
Was supposed to have surgery last Wednesday, but hubby had something happened, he's had 6 other attacks like this one, where he has a fit where he can't breath & has no motor skills @ all. Loose all functions of his body. They can't figure out what's wrong either.
If he has another attack on Dec. 1st. Then I know it's a sign from God not to go through w/my surgery... oh poop!
Screws, rods, 2 new disks, & stem cells to regrow bone bc of the bone loss in my back. I'm scared as ever.

Yes, in Thailand it is still illegal to be in public without a mask, and people are still wearing masks here. Videos you see where people are not wearing masks were filmed before March 2020 when that law came in.

Yes, definitely some places do it better than others. The province "Satun" is famous for its teas and they are very good there.

yes Phuket had a lot of good spots ,unfortunately Krabi not yet. Around Khao Lak you have Khrua Nong, Krua Bai Thoey,Nai Mueang, Khrua Luang Then and before Thai Mueang you have Gop Pochana and just after bridge Ta Tuay,,,all in the Bib gourmand Michelin.
The Michelin inspectors have only been to Bangkok, Phang Nga and Phuket for the last 2 years, so only those locations so far feature in their recommendations in Thailand.
There are dozens of great restaurants in Krabi, and after living in Thailand for more than 8 years, and having eaten in 19 of the provinces in Thailand, I can definitely say that many of the best dishes I've eaten, and most of the most beautiful restaurants I've eaten in, have all been in Krabi.
I'm very glad I picked Krabi as my place to live :)

Food looks good but as in the second restaurant the cooking area always looks filthy in food stalls all over the world I noticed watching these videos, the food looks amazing but the unsanitary conditions is a huge turn off (even here in the US) are there any health laws that require cleanliness?
I Googled it and found this -
"At present, the eatery business is governed by the 1992 Public Health Act. Under this law, restaurant owners must obtain government licences to start their business. They must comply with legal requirements on building sanitation, food safety, hygienic food preparation, and proper storage."

Darren, I have followed you from the beginning and have always supported your work. But, I find eating out with your family irresponsible. Covid 19 has already killed about 1 million people. This is unnecceary risk. Take out is the way to go.
Thanks for the feedback and your concern. As of today, July 20, 2020, it has been 55 days since there was a single case of community transmission of Covid-19 in Thailand. There is no sign of Covid-19 in the community here and no one returning to Thailand from abroad can enter the community without strict quarantine and testing.
The government here began implementing control measures in January, as back then Thailand was seen to be the highest risk country in the world after China. Thankfully their actions were effective and there is no Covid-19 here now, and strict measures are still in place to ensure that situation continues. It's a virus, it doesn't just appear out of thin air, infected people spread it. If I believed there was any risk to my family we would certainly not be making videos -- when there was a risk here we were not making videos, we were cooking at home, we were not even buying take out.
