I did this work for 32 years I drove a front loader pushing 1200 pounds bins and all house to house route was all manual labor no automation in my day.
The contract is “Up The Drive” service. People pay extra taxes for this premium service. If the homeowner doesn’t want us in their driveway they can put it at the curb.
I just watched this video again as it popped up in my feed. The lunacy of backing into each driveway is incomprehensible! The inefficiency of getting in and out of the truck every 50 feet is ludicrous. The transmission is taking an enormous beating. Fuel cost due to taking 4 times longer to pick up trash in any given location is a profit killer. I could go on and on....
This is how the city wants it done. They don’t want the big trucks driving up and down the streets. When GFL bid on the contract, the city had three options 1) All automated 2) Hybrid service (Subscription Up The Drive and regular automated service) 3) All Up The Drive service (6% cost increase from the previous contract that WM had with the city) and city leaders voted 11-3 to keep it UTD even with the cost increase. The trucks are serviced regularly. With it being a “profit killer” I highly doubt it as we are way above the budgeted homes per hour.
The whole point is “Up The Drive” service. It’s almost like back door service but that’s why we are in pick up trucks with dump boxes. People can leave their bins up the drive at the garage or put it down at the curb or really anywhere on their driveway. As long as we have a clear path to back the pick up truck to where the bins are.
My man Nick!!!!! Who don’t love em
I cant imagine doing this every single day for 25 years.

Entertaining to watch him moving fast
Awesome tiny garbage truck
Like to see this nice truck on NYC,and bet it would do a better job yhan those bigger Macks
😊😊😊
I feel bad for the transmission on that poor truck.
Sweet catch
Cool truck but isnt a little inefficient since it cant jold mich. They wiuld have to dump pretty often.
Believe it or not, it can hold a lot, especially if loaded correctly.
It’s effective in its own way. Theirs a reason for everything
@@wmautoreach123oh.
If I drove a garbage truck it would be this one 😂
I like watching fast drivers, I’m not sure what he said the end though
Fast?? Me?? NEVER🤣
At the end since we were done with our route, I was letting him know where we were moving to next.
@@wmautoreach123 Just kidding. I got what you were saying too.
Nice video
Why does he have to back into the driveways?

Cool truck
Is this truck manual? If not he is going to destroy the transmission
At 2:27 the bag almost fell in the recycling side.
Good
Easy money right there
Frustration at 4:02
Took it out on the bags

Pulling into each driveway is ridiculous, inefficient, not to mention noisy.

No one puts their trash out by the street lol this is inefficient

this is one of the most inefficient things i have ever seen. the constant backing up is ridiculous.
