As a European flight attendant I’m amazed of how the whole flight limitations work in the states… what about safety!? Crew can be so tired if commuting from west to east.. no rest periods… and all for the money
Fully agree. It shouldn’t be allowed. As a Captain, I’ve stood down some of my crew members for the same. Commuting and working straight after is not appropriate or considered safe in Europe. The rules in the US are bizarre to say the least.
Thanks for the video. Make sure your getting lots of rest. Those hours are crazy and sleep is huge. I was diagnosed with clinical burnout 5 years ago. Doctor said proper sleep and meals are number one. Cheers from Sarnia Ontario Canada 🇨🇦.

Miss JoJo - How do you, as a FA, interact with other FAs who are commuting? During downtime do you "talk shop" or compare notes, restaurant suggestions, places to see, etc?
Do you have to pay an amount for a commuter flight(s) (to go to/from work, not pleasure) from LAX to JFK and back? They use to call them ID90? How doe sit work now?
Won't lie, definitley looking forward to Athens at some point but I understand the feeling of just wanting to get some hours in and going home. Have you made any friends at NY crew base yet? Also, out of curiosity is there a way to arriage working the NY to LA route in such a way as to be able to just have that be your day to day? Even San Diego to NY would probably make it so that you can be home during your layovers and thus cut down on the away time. Here at Amtrak we have people work work trains out of NY who live in Miami and vice versa they've been making it work for years. Anyway, enjoy your videos and hope to see you post soon.

Jojo, I must ask. How are you able to “score” the first class/business class seat(s) if you’re just traveling home(off duty) while Executive Platinums can never “score” the upgrade, especially JFK-LAX and LAX-JFK? Is it the gate agent(s) “hooking” you up?
I think it works like standby where they have any open seats they will put any staff on the open seats and like she said she checks the loads to make sure they have lots of open first class seats so she is more likely to get a seat there rather than economy

That definitely did cost AA a lot of money. Just think of how much the company would have made if that person had gone to Rome forty times in a year out of their own pocket.
Airline employees only get on the flight if there are empty seats. They don't take a seat that a paying passenger would take. Therefore, I don't see how it cost the airline any money. I know because I am a retired flight attendant and when my husband and I travel we buy tickets because our airline's flights are always full.
