    GT3s lost only 4.6% during last year. So are we looking at a market bottom and, should you buy one right now, or should you wait to see if prices will continue to drop?
    Looking at the 996 and 997 generations, we saw that prices increased in line with the market but did not decline when the market tanked. In other words, the cars were relatively immune to the market correction. This means that right now, is as good or as bad of a time as ever to buy a 996 or 997.
    When it comes to the 991 and 992, we saw prices topped mid 2022. In my opinion, that was not a smart moment to buy. Now, however, there is nothing visible in the price trends that would warrant the same conclusion. Prices already corrected and showed resilience. The correction was much smaller than in the rest of the market. More recently prices even flatlined, something that is not visible in all markets. Therefore, I think it is fair to conclude that it is at least not a bad moment to buy a GT3.

    Porsche's planned price increases on 2024 cars will prop up used prices. Flattening of current prices not surprising given the season and high interest rates.

    Great analysis again, thanks for the heads up.
    992.1's have dropped in Oz, but they where at an inflated high during C19, now dropped 20%. There are now at the new car configurator price, so can't see them going lower.
    I shall also mention, that in Oz the 992.2 cars won't be available in a Manual, only PDK. Will this be other countries? This will also support manual prices going forward.

    Considering that Porsche continues to focus most of its 2-door production on GT models...I wouldn't be surprised to see some price drops soon...certainly on the non-911 models we've already seen it with Spyders and GT4's selling around MSRP at auction.

    About five years ago I went to do an Extreme Experience and drove a 991 gt3 pdk, liked it so much I looked at prices then at that and older generations gt3 where one could buy a GT3 for as low as 70k. I thought heck, if things keep up and work is good I could perhaps pick one up in a few years with a middle class income. Boy was I wrong...

    I’m watching the 991.1 market as the engine warranty from Porsche runs out. That’s a large shift of risk to the owner and I suspect it will impact prices.

      I wonder if people will finally learn about how great the replacement G6 engines are, and cars with those will hold value much better.

    • @nncs
      @nncs 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andrewlakes7461 great question. I think the G6 fix is solid, but the engine design itself is fundamentally flawed, they just coated certain bits. If that coating wears off and gets into the engine who knows what will happen. Maybe Dundon will finish the new design that would really fix it. Regardless I really prefer the 991.1 and would take my chances on a G6, or maybe try to grab one without a G6 and try to “help” it before the warranty ends 😊

    • @andrewlakes7461
      @andrewlakes7461 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nncs I see you've read the same rennlist posts as I have haha. It's not only dlc coating though (both cam lobe and the followers), G6 have an upgraded oil pump and additional oil galleries to spray the cam/follower area, so I'd say the issue is addressed and not a fundamental flaw. I always like to point out that there are more reported 991.2 engine failures than G6 failures. 991.2 went to solid lifters as there is less moving mass and therefore they can get more hp from the same engine, the same reason nearly all high rpm engines run solid lifters. Those engines have similar oil sprayers pointed at the cams as the 991.1 should have done in the first place.

  • @BertrandDussert

    Combo of Porsche new car price increases and decreasing interest rates into 2024 will prop up 992 GT3 prices. It’s impressive prices haven’t tanked more given interest rates have doubled in 2 years.

      @@IT-fk3pp and yet they very much are. 1. Some people who can afford one deploy their liquid capital elsewhere (like in investments). 2. Many people can afford to enjoy these cars for a couple of years and resell them, but only when rates are lower (they don’t depreciate much). There’s always a segment of buyers that’s immune to interest rates, but it’s only a portion of buyers at this price point. 700-800K cars less sensitive to rates due to different buyer profile.
