As a Persian woman, so true. I couldn’t go one family gathering without an aunt or my mom commenting on my sister’s or my weight. So triggering until I learned how to set boundaries and taught them other ways to compliment someone besides their appearance.
I love this! What a healthy environment! It can definitely make the holidays more enjoyable- I’ve always wondered why some peers always seemed thrilled to go home for the holidays… and as I’ve gotten older I just realize that coming from an Asian family, your feelings don’t matter but your vulnerabilities DO, and the older generations will always have something to say and then gaslight you for speaking up for yourself when you do find the words. Hoping for more of these welcoming environments for everyone this holiday season! Much love Zoya! ❤
My mum said l looked like a teletubby 😮😢😂 she's so blunt bit it's not an excuse to get away with being emotionally abusive and detached. Over here forever calling everyone out on their bullshit. Love to you both girls ❤
I love this so so much for you!!! I'm an Australian born and bred woman with a persian partner. I was nervous to go into a shop to biy some new clothes, as he offered. The ladies in the store helped me get clothes that gave me style and different outfit options. Just Jeans l think it was in macquarie in Sydney Australia ❤
Can't agree more. I saw a video of a kindergarten teacher telling kids not to comment on someone's appearance unless that person can change it in 30 seconds or less. (Like if someone says you have lipstick on your theet that's ok but comment on hair, noise, weight, height... is not)
Dude!!! Cz u're literally possessing the most flattering shape ever!!! 🔥With the fits that u chose!!… Who can ever say anyyything to that!! They're just mesmerized. 😌❤️
❤❤❤ I love this for you, yes our cultures have to do better with the weight issue lol. I’m Mexican, omg how I had to fight my family for this, with 5 my young girls it was hard.
My mom and family always comment and they say it’s out of concern but like pls just don’t lol. If they notice it, chances are you’re already aware and don’t need to be told
My Greek mother in law commented on my weight after my pregnancy and it hurt my feelings so bad. No one in my life had ever called me fat. Mostly because I had always been skinny up until my pregnancy. But damn, I did not realize at the time it's like... Regional? I do feel better about it now. But also I did get my weight under control. I'll still never forget how much that hurt!
As a person who has worked with a maniacal sense of urgency in kitchens, my family comments on my wait often; surprised when I gain it and expected when I lose it 😅 Cheers to first time experiences
I have white family and stg every year someone said say i either gained or lost weight and it has made me not want to go there anymore bc i can’t ever just feel comfortable in my skin
You're beautiful anyway. Ignore them. If you have to go and they make a comment like that you can say "you look tired. Did you sleep last night? There is a dark circle under your eyes" I know it's mean but hopefully it will get them to stop commenting on your weight
Not Persian, I'm a Heinz 57 mix but mostly white with a few pieces of color, no one ever mentions my weight unless I bring it up, I think it depends on the family more than the ethnic background
Latina's mom doesn’t play my family will be the first one to tell me if I am too skinny or fat but I know it comes from a place of love. If you say that to someone here they take it to heart, it’s a big cultural difference.
Yeah but you are average sized. If you were even a little heavy it would be a conversation about you behind your back and with you (and a lot of comments about how they are “concerned for your health” but not concerned enough to help pay for any tests meds or insurance)

This is common in Hispanic families as well. It is ironic because the generation doing it also says they never had a say in things. As in opinions.

When the same old generation offers you their diamond ring as a gift will you take it???

I had that issue as well with my ex in-laws! I always said that appearances (either good or bad) shouldn’t ever be the topic of conversation!

Your HEART is what her family found in you. That’s just another reason why we look forward your videos because of your kindest heart ❤

I hope you enjoyed your first “white” thanksgiving! Love you and your partners dynamic so I can only hope your families are just as amazing. ❤

Because that's not your blood family. Your blood family is more comfortable around you.

You look healthy 😂

Universal brown woman experience 🤦🏽♀️
Hmm if no said anything, that just means your weight is fine. :P
My Black aunts were notorious for clocking my weight 😢. ❤
