Fabulous presentation, and infectious excitement for geodesy! Bravo!

This is one fascinating presentation that clarified many questions I had from studying theory from volumes of textbooks and webpages on geodesy and GNSS surveying. Thank you.

Excellent. You make something that could be very boring as fascinating.

You stated that if someone wanted to learn more they would have to find alternate resources but how? I don't even know what to look up or what to search for. I'm trying to get a solid hold on this and even after watching 2 hours of your presentation videos I'm still not exactly sure what I should be looking up to learn more.

Here are some “key words and phrases” that might help: theodolite, geodetic surveying, triangulation, triangulation network, Bilby tower, Jasper Bilby, Ferdinand Hassler.

At 31:26 the triangulation would reveal the curvature of the earth, you would not have to 'allow' for it or consider it in a triangulation survey. If I surveyed a dome shaped hill by straight line triangulation you would end up with a dome shaped survey albeit made up of straight line triangles.

Yes. It’s a difference between “plane surveying” and “geodetic surveying”. In geodetic triangulation the sum of the three angles of a triangle is 180 degrees plus “spherical excess”, a factor that is a function of the physical size of the triangle and the parameters of the reference geodetic sphere. In the field geodetic surveyors do make this calculation to check the quality of their angle observations and repeat the observations if necessary to meet the specifications of the survey.

'Geography without geodesy is a felony?' What an odd joke to even say.
