    The Mallard like it's smaller sibling, the Widgeon is a truly beautiful seaplane. I'm still amazed Grumman only built 59 of this model. I whole heartily believe if it were to be produced in the Turbine version like your beauty they would sell like hot-cakes around the world.

    As a flight sim 'tragic' I have chosen the Mallard as my vehicle for a planned world circumnavigation. I have started from Hobart, reached Port Macquarie (home), then up to Bamaga and Thursday Island. Your videos have answered many of my questions re the instruments. My real flying was all VFR in my trike, then my nanolight. Now I am working on learning IFR and I thank you for your contribution and mentoring via these videos.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of flying around the Caribbean on Antilles. Not so many checklists with a single pilot back in the '70s :)

    A firm I once worked for had several Mallards. I had the good fortune to ride in one while still powered by radials. Great fun. They were later converted to turbines. I also found it interesting you lined up behind an E-120. I guess I didn't realize they were popular down under. I have about 5400 hrs in type. Pretty fair machine. Fly safely Mate.

    Good one, I loved this video, just to make sure, you have possibility to confuse landing procedure at land insted water landing?

    I fly the Mallard turboprop flight sim, and I see it has torque gauges and not manifold pressure gauges. What torque settings should I aim for at take off and cruise, and how do I manage them?

    • @thatmallardguy7955
      @thatmallardguy7955  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ken Gunn we use basically 1600ft/lbs for takeoff, and 1400ft/lbs with 1800RPM for cruise! Enjoy!

    Using the turbine version, what is the shortest take off distance from a runway? Always wanted to know.

    I have not done that for 8 years but it looks about the same.
    Here is the VFR version.

    Would say the cockpit is tight? How about for long flights over 2hrs?

    • @thatmallardguy7955
      @thatmallardguy7955  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick Carnerie no the cockpit is very comfortable even for long flights

    • @patrickcarnerie5535
      @patrickcarnerie5535 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thatmallardguy7955 Roger that. I would guess that 4 hrs straight is probably about the max in a Mallard.

    • @thatmallardguy7955
