Excellent demo. Grooving beats, tasty tones, and we get to hear the device action without the frivolous blabbing that undermines so many YT gear demos. Thanks!

Hi Mike, I love the tones you get with the Zulu! It’s one of the reasons I bought one. Can you let us into a bit of your signal chain for the above video? The tones kick arse. Thanks
Last thing, I see the start of this video is on a stereo drum mix. Are you coming out your IO into Zulu, then gaining back up to get the final sound? If so any info would be great!
@@updown5238 yeah... everything you’re hearing is using the Zulu as an insert in pro tools. Processing everything through the Zulu back into pro tools.
Inside there is a 2 foot loop of GP9 tape running at 7.5 ips and NOS Ampex ATR-102 tape head sourced from the last remaining supply at an old Ampex repair facility.
Do you think Zulu can be helpful in a mastering chain Bettermaker MEQ > Silver Bullet > RND MBP > SPL Vitalizer mk 2T .. ? I mean if i put it in the end after the SPL , thanks :)
Dat drum pattern kold bruh! U should put out a break beat loop pack for use HipHop guys. Some unique stuff and some classic breaks (with a twist) in two different packs for $29.99 each or both for $49.99 for both... YEEEAAAH BUDDY!
@@bdmchh Nice! I am planning to get one of these to get a more analogic feel to the tracks I mix/master. I loved the way it sounds on drums and I hope i get the same results put it on the master chain! Thx
Hey Tomaz I’m just about to track some synths through the box. Chain is synth - DI - Zulu - Gain up with mic input Will see how that goes! I think the learning curve is quite steep with this box, or at least the basic combinations take a while to figure out. You can use it in many ways so it’s finding the ones that work for you (and others!) 👍🏾
Best demo on the tubes
Every single setting sounds superb! I really need to get one of these.
This sounds good as HELL !!! Like a tape machine.
Nice playing man!
Doooope audition man!
Could you please do a video adding the Zulu on the mix buss? Thanks for sharing this video!!
It’s amazing on the mix bus.

Great job, Mike. Thanks so much.
Damn you sold me on this box right here. You did justice demoing this units color
literally same
Thank you so much for level matching!
It's a passive device. Sound can change 8db from one setting to another. Hello??

Best demo so far!!
Just got mine today I may be the only one in Australia to have one so excited to try it absolutely amazing work on this piece of gear

Sowwy I’ve had one for a bit now 😊 but no less special, I’m sure we’re the only “few” to have them in Oz.
tons of sonic options... cool!
Great demo. So happy I got one, but would like to get at least one more.

As in, were you running Mic - Pre - Zulu - Pre for tracking?
And do you use a DI anywhere at times with the box? Thanks

You have just inspired me to dig out the Zulu and try a few things 👍🏾

this is fantastic, thanks for the great video!
Really like this home studio setup... I have the same problem with my monitors hanging off the edge haha
Haha. Yep. It’s an issue for everyone I think.
Sounds good and cheaper than a lot of cassette recorders. I wanna try one.
awesome demo. any other devices similar to this one you recommend?
Thank you! I don’t know that there is anything else on the market like this.
interesting, there's even not one spot in the demo where I liked the sound of the unit, certainly useful video

This thing can clip ?

Definitely if you want the tape vibe. There is a slight gain loss using it so you’d need to keep that in mind but that’s the vibe.
I'm probably a little late, but I'd put it in the inserts of the SB and use that for the makeup gain.

Is it a mono or a stereo unit ?
Coca Cola dual mono. So you can use it in stereo
its funny when you go to watch a video like this and the audio of the person speaking sounds like shit haha
Exactly my thoughts! A mic would have been right behind him... too much of a hassle I guess. 😂
I wonder how this will worn whitin a master chain
Really well. That’s where I leave mine mostly. Same with Ian Kirkpatrick and many more.
Any tips for a mastering would be great as well Mike, I have had Zulu a while but have yet to integrate it in as good a way as you have 👍🏾

Ps! It’s not Zulu settings per-as I am after, it’s more how you fit it into your mastering chain and how you gain up etc. Cheers!
