Christy Essien Igbokwe, UDUAK,and Nigeria Lady of Song was a simply magical in her lifetime. She epitomised every positive values of an African woman. A chaste lady, great wife, kind woman, successful musician, accomplished actress, loving mother and many more. She would live forever in the minds and imagination of lovers of good music
This is so moving. She was a gift to this country. Talent so raw. A voice so unique it draws one in. No one sings songs like this anymore. Her songs touched deeply with its simplicity. Her song Akwa ibom mmi was so popular and captured the sentiments of the then newly created state. Thank you Channels tv for this piece!
I don't even know why I am crying bitterly, probably cos I was fortunate to know what Nigeria used to be back in the late 70's and early 80's.....what a world...please everyone do know it's the smiles you put across faces when alive that matter not many acumulated riches....I miss mummyyyy
Oh men, I'm sadden by her lost to us, I'm from Ghana, but Christy's music was my heart, I mean all, she joins the Africans musician who stood for all Africa. She will be missed, but her music will live with me for the rest of my life.
The only words I can think of is MAGICAL, PHENOMENAL AND LEGEND. Words are inadequate to capture the being that was Christy Essien Igbokwe. She is a prophetess in the league of the great trailblazers like Bob Marley. 👑🙌🙌🙌
Her song, Seun Rere will live with me forever. Christy Essien Igboke will be forever loved. She performed for us at Minna, Niger State in one of those children party in the late 80s.
Christy is one of the singer in Nigeria whose song reminds us why we should remain together as one in Nigeria...may her soul RIP...my heart goes out to the Igbokwe's family

She came fourth; of'course her husband helped her music to succeed with his position and also she succeeded because she sung in so many Nigerian languages so she had a much bigger advantage than some other musicians.

I used to shed tears of passion and emotion whenever I see her singing other tribes song fluently.. What a rare germ.... Wow.. May her soul rest in peace...
i wish nigerian present artists will learn from Christy obekwe & others so DAT can stop singing about sex and money only but about what will edify our culture and about every day life v
50 years. haaaa, Anyway chaa. But why will she mistakingly move to Nollywood that not love them selves. What a mistake. May her soul still rest in peace. Amen.
