The funny thing is, most of the menacing Blue Bumpers are bots. I confirmed this when playing in private lobbies. Most "sane" players instantly push the detonation button, while CPU controlled bumpers try to target players.
It makes me happy this game is still getting attention, even if I miss the era of the game where it was even remotely possible for me to win. But hey, with a series like Fzero, its only natural that the casuals would get filtered out and that the cream of the crop would rise to the top. Phenomenal game, even if my refusal to maintain a steady presence means that I'm fighting my ass off to get 10th place
I always come back to F-Zero 99 after getting destroyed in MK8DX. The (almost) pure racing skill is much more enjoyable at times than the luck-driven kart racing. F-Zero 99 should have a better matchmaking system, because I see S20+ rank players going against A rank players and it can be unfair for both players.
@@F0Hero I mean, I'm not sure how much that would help. I don't think Fzero would be as addicting if it held your hand and put you against easier opponents when you do poorly. What makes Fzero addicting is the drive to improve. The willingness to suffer 1,000 failures if it means that you develop the skill necessary to eventually win. The problem imo is that top players have gotten so good that they're nearly untouchable. IMO that's a failure in obstacle diversity. Because the bumpers spawn in the same pattern every time, every single track more or less has an objectively optimal route that only the best of the best learn to navigate. For everyone else, nothing but skyway shortcuts, blue bumpers, or an _even better_ racer have to power to stop them. I'm conflicted because on one hand, if any series should lean towards being able to consistently reward the best players 100% of the time, its definitely FZero. But on the other hand, if I do one more GP with a player who effortlessly does perfect lines and dodges every bumper, resulting in a perfect 1,000 points, Idk if I'll ever have faith in my ability to win a race again, let alone a GP. The core of FZero imo should be to push all players to improve just enough so that they'll eventually be able to _earn_ their win legitimately. And in order to make that possible, there needs to be more mechanics that slow down the person in first place. Be that more obstacles, a higher risk of crash outs, or even some kind of RNG element. Good players should be able to overcome the best of players by having better races, and thus, there needs to be something strong enough to make the best players have bad races.
@@F0Hero Same, I played MK8 for years, but the online experience was often so frustrating...no matter how good you are, there is just too much crazy shit all the time that can ruin your race without you doing anything wrong. When FZ99 came out, I stopped playing MK8 for that reason...if you mess up in FZ99, it's a skill issue 95% of the times...or the cursed blue bumpers. ;) But it's so much more fair and enjoyable than MK8.
The sweat is real when he's in the lobby haha. Especially when you somehow end up in front of him like in that clip here...I never concentrate as hard as when there is a very tiny chance of beating him, it feels like a special achievement in the game. 😅
Some bumpers have something magnetic about them...blue's especially, but also gray's sometimes, no matter what, you just can't pass them and they seem to match their own speed to yours.😅
When I was going against +99 win guys last year, I just put it down and didn’t look back. Please Nintendo I’m just a silly guy I’m not jumping half the course at 1 pixel of energy
@@F0Heromainly the regular mode was just not benefiting me enough as I wasn’t training on the more difficult courses regularly thus the ticket tourneys became my regular mode but it became very clear that my time spent playing wasn’t enough to reach high level play and winning just wasn’t worth losing my nerves over

If you're wondering why Nintendo's racers have been making your current position vanish right before the finish line ever since MKWii, it's just in case you're somehow out of sync with the official server-side result. It's not impossible for a close online race to desync just enough for it to look like two different results to the two different systems. I guess there's some kind of consensus mechanism, or something.
Take blue bumpers out of grand prix, reduce the ammount of exp you get using Fire Stingray in Classic Mode, bring back the original builds on fire stingray and golden fox before they were nerfed but keep the buffs on blue falcon and increase spin attack charge speed when in power down status... done 👏
@xavierchacon4612 Fox got nerfed by one boost which wouldn't be so bad in itself but because of Falcons buffs they are virtually identical which is why there is a major influx of Falcon players as he was the worst at launch. Goose still dominates the meta and Stingray has the most difficult time when getting bummed around.
That Blue Bumper is proof of how much of a menace it represent to society. 😅
