This makes me want to buy a sewing machine. Ive been so dissatisfied with clothes lately when I go into stores. I used to be able to sew when I was a kid but I stopped for whatever reason, but the desire is back. Ill just think about it for a few weeks before I make any purchase, but if I do, Ill be following this DIY for the first piece :)
You could get a pretty affordable machine from amazon for under 70$! I use my mom’s sewing machine that she bought back in the 80s and it works perfectly fine, I don’t need any fancy stitches or a computerized machine at all!
ive been wanting a top like this for so long but could never find one that would fit my bust, so im def going to try this out with some cute retro fabric and end up making like 10 of them LOL thank you so much for this video!
I have never sewed clothing from scratch before and you made this super easy. I do have a lot to learn but I think the top turned out amazing. Thank you.
Best tutorial ever!!!!,!!!!!!!! Very straight forward and easy to follow. I hate when people talk too much. You have a nice voice!,!!!?!,!!!!! Thank yiuuuuuu
I saw this exact same top but in black in a movie and I couldn’t get it out of my head!! So I looked up tutorials and this one was precisely the one I was looking for! Thank you so much for explaining so clearly!
I just made this top and my measurements were a little off but it came out SOOOOOOO good and the tutorial was easy to follow, quick, and my top came out amazing! Highly recommend her channel and tutorials!
Just finished my top with some stretchy sunflower and butterfly fabric, it is insanely cute!! Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial. Will definitely be trying this again with different fabrics! ❤️❤️
I thought when I saw this it was not going to be detailed and rushed like many other videos on sewing clothes I have seen. I'm so glad this was not the case. I have to make one of these now!
Hi “great video but I’m a bit lost with your directions please when you’re cutting the bust When you mark 15 inches how do you know what to place the second 15 inch on the fabric and the 9inches you were specific so I’m having trouble following
WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH! I got a great top on my first try. I used spandex material so I added more fabric to the back of the top to close it and kept the neck tie. It looks perfect🥺💗
Of course!! Yes this pattern is customizable, just change the measurement of the waist band and the width of the cups 🤍🤍 if you make this please tag me in your photo @erin_reiko !!
loved the video! i like the way you explain things. how would you sew in push up pads for a halter top like this? i wanna do it but dont know how. thank you!
omg i'm in love! definitely going to try this out! one thing though is i think i would want the piece to be more fitted at the waist, i notice it flares out a bit at the bottom but i'd like it to be more sucked in, do you have any advice? thank you so much!!!!
hi, i’m not sure how to do it with this fabric, but what i would do is get a fabric with stretch so it forms to your body like you want ! 💝 i would probs use a knit or spandex blend
What are all the tools you used? I've never worked with fabric and I'm really interested in starting. This tutorial is so helpful but I was wondering what the grids you used were
Hey there! I’m simply using a cutting mat (self healing) and a rotary cutter! The plastic ruler I use also has grids on it, to help make cutting and measuring a lot simpler. They’re not necessary since I started sewing with just basic scissors and chalk, but the cutting mat is totally worth it. Found everything on amazon! Hope that helps :)

i'm in the process of making the top hopefully it turns out as good as yours
I love this tutorial except i feel like some steps were skipped woth yhe straps. Do two go in the top corners of the band and then one throught the cups?
i tried this and the cups seem to flare out and leave me exposed a little. is there anything i can do to limit the flaring on the sides and in the center of the top?
If I didn’t want it to be a top that ties can I just make the stomach band the width of my stomach? For example, my waist is 23.5”, so can I make it 23.5” plus 1” for seam allowance? I hate tops that tie because I’m always worried they’ll come untied.
Yes that could work! Just make sure you’re able to get the waist band over your shoulders, hopefully your fabric has stretch to it! If not, add a zipper in the back!
Yes of course, it would probably be comfier too! Just remember that the measurements have to be adjusted slightly smaller due to the stretch of the fabric!! 🤍
hi queen, not sure if you’ll see this im learning to sew and i feel like we would have similad measurements, could i have the measurements you used for each piece 🥺 thank you sm
Hey girl!! For my triangles I believe I started with 12 or 13 inches long, and 9 inches wide at the bottom of the triangle. Then I used that ruffle up method for the bottom of my triangle, and once I was done with it my triangles were about 7 inches wide across the bottom. For the stomach band I just measured my waist (around 25 inches) but since I didn’t want the waist band to close entirely I subtracted a few inches - so I cut my stomach band at around 22/23 inches wide and however long you want the band (depending on how cropped you want it). Don’t forget to add an inch to whatever you cut because of seam allowance. If you are lost I believe I typed in the measurements of my pieces in the tutorial!!
OMFG so not sure if you happened to see the paisley bandana dress the rapper Cardi B boasted on her Instagram page, but I did & instantly fell in love with the idea of making my own version of the dress!!! I've searched high and low, here and there, EVERYWHERE for a halter style top that worked with my vision then, BOOM!!!!!! The day the fabric arrived for the top, i found YOU!!!!!!!! Please follow Sauda Creationz on Instagram so you can see the finished product and let me know its you so I can tag you when I post
So glad you found my channel just in time! And no I haven’t seen the bandana dress but I’ll look it up! Sadly I don’t have an Instagram yet but I’d love to see your finished project!
Make sure to use a really loose stitch (lowest tension on the machine). And the stitch you pull to form the gathering is the bottom thread (from the bobbin if that makes more sense)

How is half of 9 5?
I think she added some ease
Question: After gathering the fabric, the new triangles have a base of 7.5 or 9 like the others?
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
hey! this is such a great tutorial!! do you have any tips for making this with a stretchier fabric?
just made this! i added an invisible zipper instead of tie on lower back part
Oh wow yes invisible zipper is definitely the way to go!!
Love it!!!you make i look so .easy!
Thank you girl!! 🤍
what is the name of the tool you used for cutting?
I have cups from old bikinis, I am wondering what would be the best way to attach them to the inside fabric
Great tutorial, thank you for sharing. I'm going to try it! How much fabric did you start with?
I'm gunna try this right now! Wish me luck! X
You got this!! 🤍

Just 100% quilted cotton from Joanns!!

awesome video! thanks for sharing🥰
Thanks for watching!!
Love this
I love this tutorial except i feel like some steps were skipped woth yhe straps. Do two go in the top corners of the band and then one throught the cups?
One strap is placed through the top part of the cups (at the neck/shoulders) and then one at the back to tie it!
@@itserinb thank you so much ✨
Omw to get some cool fabric now
Yes please do!! Show me your creation on insta when you finish it 😄

I couldn't get past the ruffling or gathering part :( idk how you flew through that step lol
In the measurement you said 7 when drafting you said 9 later when halving you said 5 half of 9 is 4.5 did you rough up or go up an inch
I’m a little confused. If you sew the same size triangle to the gathered one, how would they line up. The ungathered one would be much larger? Thanks.
What I did was I traced over the gathered triangle to make a new size of triangle. Hope that helps! xxx
@@CAT_123x thank you!
How Is the neck strap not visible?
Love the video! How much fabric do I need to make 1 top?
I used less than one yard!
Loved this tutoriall thank you so muchh! Just wanted to ask which type of fabric did you use and its thickness?
Hi there! The fabric is 100% quilted cotton from JoAnns Fabric, and it’s pretty thin/lightweight!
if i want ti make the back like the bottom rectangle, do i just make the bottom measurement longer?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can this be done with stretchy fabric?
Yes of course, it would probably be comfier too! Just remember that the measurements have to be adjusted slightly smaller due to the stretch of the fabric!! 🤍
