I was blessed enough to sing this song with Chanticleer as part of their first-ever National Youth Festival a few days ago...I was a member of the Honor Choir, so I had the honor of singing the trio part with Chanticleer members. I sang the countertenor alto, standing next to Adam Ward...this is such a beautiful song...and this performance is wonderful. It truly does the song an awe-inspiring amount of justice. Bravo, bravo, bravo. It gave me chills.
This is a beautiful song and a gorgeous performance. They do go up a half step, but that happens sometimes in a live performance. Makes it a little tough on the 1st tenors, but they handled it well. Congratulations and bravo.
Amar, you're doing a great job as a historian, as I see from the video description. Just wanted to add that we didn't perform this piece that night, which is why we sang it. I'm usually picky about our own performances, like if I had to be picky, there'd be a couple spots I would comment on. But man, it was really fantastic. Thanks for uploading! P.S.: John R., "Can we buy this concert hall, Percy?"
@asadogg22: From Wikipedia - "The piece was brought to the US by the Cornell University Glee Club in 1970. The ensemble met Biebl while on tour in Germany... Conductor Thomas A Sokol was given a number of Biebl's works, premiering them after returning home. The Ave Maria quickly gained popularity, most notably after becoming part of the repertoire of Chanticleer."
Bravo coro!

This epitomizes the Glee Club for me. If only we could've caught the truly spontaneous Danny Boy.
What amazing acoustics, and what a wonderful tour!
This is beautiful...wish I could zoom in and see the action as well as hear the melodic ecstacy.
Aloha
