Hey Marcus I made the switch from Protools to Studio one about a year or so and these helped. Thanks a bunch!

I really do enjoy your tutorials, they help to discover quite a lot of exceptionally useful nuances. I work in SO over a year, love it, enjoy its versatility, consider it a very deep and well-designed software, but some tips are buried inside and are not easy to grasp just by logic or intuition, - you really have to know them. :) So thank you very much again for sharing your knowledge.

Very nice to see how you set up a mix, mate. We all have our different ways of doing it, and, I don't know about you, but mine is evolving all the time, when I watch videos like yours!

Yeah - the new trim on the Console from the 4.5 release really changed the way I gain stage now.. Before it was always using Event Gain - but now its a mix between both, because the biggest thing for me is I used to always have to use a "Data Zoom" to see my waveforms, but now I can adjust all Waveforms so they're visible, then use the trim to get them hitting the Console at the right spot.. and also by selecting all the audio tracks, I can back off the relative gain of all of them by 6 or 7db, so my faders are hovering more closely to the 0DB sweet spot of the faders..

@@marcushuyskensmusic - Now you have me experimenting. Likely I will shoot my own video on this in a few weeks after I have spent some time on developing this. If I can make things more efficient at the start, it will set me up well for a streamlined mix, even though I apply top-down mixing.

I like your idea of using the VCA fader on all the tracks during the static mix to get the Master bus VU meter at 0db. Definitely one to add into the toolbox going. Keep 'em coming Marcus!!!

Inspiration! I just got the Neutron3 auto-static mix update a while ago so I added Relay to every channel of my mix template. You just made me realize I can add an automation lane for Relay's Global Output Gain (GOG) on every channel and once the Neutron static mix process is done I should have a readable level on this parameter. Now, shouldn't I be able to make a macro to transfer the GOG values from the Relay to the Input Gain & freeze/disable each instance of Relay? I think I'm going to have to dig into the macros to learn if this is possible. Thx! I keep running into your stuff, Groove3, Production Expert, Studio One Expert & now your channel. Glad you make videos for StudOne! They help a lot.

I think that would be a good one to do.. Although I have a few different Mixing Templates, one is for Mixing when I need to deliver stems, and the other is for Mixing where Im just delivering a stereo mix.. But in both cases, the same concepts apply.

You talk about gain staging, maybe since I come from an analog back ground, and engineer as I mic and record... gain staging happens first in the level it's tracked at, and at your input level. So its rare I have to reset the gain. I guess when people that don't record at the correct level this is a God send to adjust.

Hi Marcus, For some reason ST1 4.5 is taking a long time to load my Waves Plugins. I have turned off my anti virus programs and it still is taking a long time (like 40 seconds) to load up. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

In all honesty I don't really have a good answer for that.. It's just something I do when I'm mixing - to visually indicate that I'm not recording anything... The tracks are already there, and Im just mixing.. This goes back to when I used to use Pro Tools..

RMH STUDIO I have since about 2015 - but lately I have noticed some issues (with presets) loading blank instruments, and it’s made me want to try out using Splice...

    • @f18studios46

@@marcushuyskensmusic that's interesting. Didn't think of using splice. How secure it is? And do you know if it can handle large sessions? Do you have to be online to use it? All questions I can ask them for sure but thought I'll throw them at you anyway. 🙏

You take forever to get to the point, and a tip can be summed up in one sentence, not take 15 minutes to explain. You speak too slowly and dreary that I'm already either falling asleep or skipping to get to the point of what your doing. It seems like you love the sound of your own voice too much...given how long and slowly it takes you to get to the point... it's very mono tonal I might add.
