Thanks for checking out the video bro, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Man, modern teles really do something for me. Well worth giving one a shot if you fancy it 🤘
Nice video, Jack! I can't help but recall the Chapman's MSP cost is twice that of Harley Benton! Personally, I live by this old rule-of-thumb: 80% of features at 20% (or better) of the cost! If I can get the best value for the buck, I doin' that! Hands down! BTW: I dig the out-takes!!! Made me smile!
I’m really glad you enjoyed it dude, thank you! That totally makes sense. It is hard to justify spending twice as much on a guitar with similar specs. Haha that’s good, happy to provide a little bit of daft stupidity in the name of laughter 😂 Thanks again mate 🤘
I’ve been looking at these two for weeks. The HB never seems to be in stock but it’s a steel at that price. I feel greedy that I want both! In different tunings that could be the excuse. Absolute sick video as always. Love all your stuff and glad you’re getting the recognition from chapman with your most recent uploads. Keep it up dude!
It really is awesome for what it costs dude! I mean, if you can have both and want them then there's no stopping you bro, go wild! The tuning excuse is my favourite 😂 I appreciate you mate, thanks so much 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars I couldn’t wait and I compromised.. ML3 Modern Standard in Bright White 🤟.. it’s arriving today! Keep up with content man, you have sick vibes and you’re not too shabby with a six string either. Appreciate you replying back to my comment 🙌✌️
I've got my Fusion-T (LAF Alnico-5 HH) as my first electric guitar. Up until then I was learning on a classical Ibanez and an electric ART120, also Ibanez from my girl. The Fusion-T plays so much easier. Though still a beginner, it's really easy to bend and that neck is perfect to me. The ART120 had a gloss neck and I constantly got stuck when sliding. Love it, can't put it down !
I like how they have the bridge pickup a touch more forward on the Benton. It's like they measured a triple coil slot pressed against the saddles, then only cut out the most forward 2 coils and dropped a humbucker in. IMO, perfect. Adds a bit more fatness/body, especially when you're at the very bottom of the fretboard where the strings have the least energy, and therefore benefit from having the pickup closer to the virtual string center to actually pick up that vibration.
236am eastern time great video. I look at HB as a modding platform for the most part. I have never played a Chapman before and never seen a cheap one. But, I will keep an eye out. Cheers
Thanks so much my dude, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Definitely try and give one a go if you see one, I'm a big fan after having this one. Thanks again man 🤘
I'm making this exact decision soon! Getting an annual bonus soon and I would love one of these t style guitars. Chapman's are hard to find actually, you got a killer deal on yours. If i buy one new on reverb, the habanero orange is catching my eye
Awesome man! One of these would be a great way to treat yourself for sure. And totally, the orange ml3 pro is stunning! Hope you enjoy what you choose bro and thanks for watching 🤘
Yeah man, it absolutely does wear in. I've found some quicker than others but I think it's just a satin thing! Thanks for checking out the video dude 🤘
Still haven't found a sicker metal T, even after the recent rash of them from lots of manufacturers. The LTD te1000 black blast made in Korea, is still the best thing smoking on the T front. It needed some minor dialing, and with my choice of pots, tone cap and treble bleed curcuit, EB slinkys and Graphtech string tree, it's one very solid and versatile guitar. For what I've got into it, I'm happy. It's got anything and everything spec wise you could want in a modern styled T. NOTHING else looks even close.
Interesting dude, I do think LTD make some killer stuff! If I’m ever in the market for another modern T I’ll take a look. Thanks for checking out the video man, I appreciate it 🤘
Like reviews like that which aren't just "oh, this guitar is unreal!!", keep your style! :) I got my Harley Benton today after your review, and i like everything but have one big problem: If i want to pull out the cable of the Guitar Jack, its nearly impossible. I nearly destroyed my cable on the first try. Never had a problem like that with other guitars. Do you also have experience like that with the HB guitar Jack?
Thank you mate, I'm glad that comes across! I always wanted my videos to be like you're chatting with a friend about their new guitar and there's no bull, I guess. I hope it feels like that 😅 Actually dude, yes! It developed that issue after a few months of use and now it's like the jack gets locked in. I've yet to open it up and see what's going on but I'll update this comment if I find out. Thanks again dude 🤘
Cool comparison. Love the 'Steamour Duncan' pickups 😆 That Chapman Tele looks really interesting. Maybe I'll get this as my new 6 string🤔🎸 we'll see. Cool video 👍
Thank you my dude! Oh yeah the Steamour Duncan Sentient and Pegasnunce set 😂 I swear I'm garbage at talking to camera! I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless man, cheers 🤘
Big fan of the Chapmans mainly for the feel of the necks. The sound of the ML3 had a bit better cut and more full than the Harley Benton. Great video 😀👍
That's totally fair. We don't have to like everyone but man, the guitars are so good. I appreciate you checking out the video regardless mate, thank you 🙏
Cheers my dude! It’s the Sentient and Pegasus set, they’ve ended up being one of my favourite sets of pickups. I used to have the Jim Root tele and it was a great guitar but yeah, I’d choose the Chapman ML3 Pro Modern every time 🤘
Thank you dude, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I think the HB is trying to be premium at budget cost which is why I put it against this but I may well compare it to a Standard in future 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars that's also smart point of wiev. I like your videos although I am more in rock than metal. Could you sometimes paly a chord or two on some JCM800? ;)
I dunno man, like, value for money? The HB is a fantastic choice but it's just a lie to say it's as good as the Chapman. It isn't. It's amazing framed through the lens of being a few hundred quid but if you paid Chapman money for it you'd send it back immediately. Thanks for watching though and for your thoughts! I appreciate it 🤘
I’ve been really thinking about taking the plunge on the Fusion T EMG and was looking at a Chapman ML3bea previously… I don’t get involved in the politics, but both suffer from QC control issues at times… Gotta admit, for me it’ll be the ML3 purely because the Duncan’s sound fuller than the EMG and I’m a big fan of set and through neck designs. Cheers for taking the time to do this review because it’s made me realise that while I really fancy the Fusion T, I’m gonna focus on building my own metal caster 😀
I completely agree dude, if not from a feel and quality perspective, the ML3 definitely has the better pups! No need to thank me dude! Thank you for taking the time to check out the video, I really appreciate it and I'm glad it helped out in some way 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars appreciate the reply, dude. I’m trying to do this kinda thing myself so I know how much work goes into it. Speaking of which, if you find yourself with a bit of time, have a nose at my tunes and see what you think? Peace bro
No problem at all man! You took the time to watch and comment, the least I can do is reply bro! Big respect to you too man, this whole thing isn’t easy but it’s fun 🤘 Of course dude, I’d be happy to! Thank you man!
I have a bunch of $1,000 guitars and my favorite by far is my Harley Benton EX-84 with emgs. I don’t know why but it sounds awesome feels good low action and only $300
Great video, however, what made me just sub was the silly shite at the end! Awesome ;) Re the guitars - I think Harley Bentons are great (and not "just for the money"), in fact I have two in my collection (TE52 and TE70 Black Paisley). However, I think the Chapman is the clear winner here. I love Teles and personally prefer Fenders, although the Chapman ML3 Pro Traditional has been bugging me for quite some time.
Thanks so much mate, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! I don’t do bloopers all the time but I do have a good laugh putting them in 😂 The Pro Traditional does look very nice dude! I appreciate you checking out the video, thanks again man 🤘
Thank you dude, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Specs wise they’re super close but feel wise I guess you get what you pay for! Cheers for checking out the video mate 🤘
I have the S-style version of the Harley Benton and I absolutely love it. However, now you've made this video I'm tempted to find me a cheap ML1 Pro and do a similar comparison video! Completely agree with all the criticisms of the HB, but it's still an absolute beast for the money. I think new vs. new against the ML3 Standard would be an interesting video to see!
I know you do bro, I watched your video before I bought the Fusion-T! It was killer! Do it man, it would be awesome to see your thoughts on it. Let me know if you get around to it! Yes, Fusion vs. ML3 Standard would be great. It was something we talked about when Chapman offered to send a couple of guitars over but the channel was getting a little T-style heavy, or would be, so I've got an ML1 and ML2 standard I'll be doing some videos on soon. Thank you my dude, I really appreciate you checking out the video 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars That's awesome, I'm really glad it helped! I may have something in the pipeline (been out of the YT world a spell) in terms of a comparison video that I can do. I went for a Pro as well, but I'd be really keen to hear your thoughts on the Standard range too. No worries man, love your stuff!
It really did mate, thank you! Sounds interesting man, I'll keep an eye out for it. The videos on the two standards should be coming within the next month or so, I reckon. Thanks again my dude 🙇🏻♂️
You don't even need a ML1 PRO just a ML1 MODERN will smoke a HB ...I own one and I will say the Sonorous Chapman pickups sound killer!!!! Holds their own against my LP with Fishmans in it!!!....for the money Chapman guitars are hard to beat!!!
Almost a 750 dollar price difference here in canada. I can get 2 of the higher priced hb guitar for the price of a used chapman so year it makes sense that the quality is higher.
This is true. I think the HB punches above it's weight for sure but, imo the Chapman still beats it in pretty much every area. Thanks for watching dude 🤘
i like the harley benton more for the price i preffer bolt ons over set necks the fretwork i cna change myself the biggest downer for me is thatn they went for emg and i despice active pickups their nack is alright i mean remeber what u got for the same money 10 years ago? i sure did a couple of cut open fingers from fretwork and a terible sound what id id in the past wiht a harley benton is buy an ibanez neck and chuck it on there since yes it fits and works great aswell
The ML3 Modern would have been a fairer comparison I think. I have the ML3 modern and I love it so much i'm thinking of adding the pro to my quiver too.
From a price comparison standpoint, I agree. The ML3 standard would have been more fair but I guess the way I looked at it is, if HB are putting these high end specs on their guitars, can it stand up to the guitars in that category? That's what I was trying to show at least. Appreciate you checking the video out dude, thank you! The pro is a killer guitar, I'm a massive fan of it 🤘
Looks are secondary, and they should be, but one of the things I really like about Chapman is the clean fingerboard with only the infinity symbol at the 12th fret. Why do we even bother with all the dots etc. all over the fingerboard? Are there people that actually look at the fingerboard rather than the side dots while they're playing? It's just such a cleaner look to only put something brand specific at the 12th fret, IMHO. That said, I'm still a sucker for the early Ibanez Jems with floral print fabric on the body, dayglo bits and bobs, and the tree of life inlay all over the fretboard. I guess I want either all or nearly nothing on my fretboards. None of this wishy washy middle of the road sh*t for me. 😉
I'm definitely with you on that man. Playability is always most important for me but having a guitar that looks great to me makes me want to play it. I'm a big fan of the 12th infinity inlay too but almost the same as you, the floral JEMs are gorgeous. Thanks for checking out the video mate! 🤘
Can't say I'm a fan of Teles, mainly because I never had a Tele slinging guitar hero nor have I played one for a long period, but Rabea did made me having an interest on T-styles, especially his previous Baritone signature. Maybe when I start saying "Back in my days!", I might own a proper Tele or two, only time will tell. lol There are two Vola guitars that I'm somewhat interested in, both are signature models of the guys from Kadinja (don't know much about them, apart from knowing that they're a Djent group), and one of them is Vola's take on the T-style, the Vasti. Interested on both of the models, mainly because of the versatility, HSS configuration, price and place of origin (quite the contenders for my desire for the Ibanez Q54). You should check them out, Jack, they're the OZ QJM J2 and Vasti PDM J2. The J2s are 6 stringers while the J1s are 7 stringers.
The Rabeas were absolutely dope dude but yes! The Pierre Danel Vasti is awwwwesome. I absolutely love his playing too. Just recently got into Kadinja but I’ve been listening to Novelists for a while and found out about him when he joined them. I would love to try that guitar! Thanks as always my dude, I appreciate you 🤘
Chapman sounded the best in the bridge position with better note definition and more clarity The HB sounded the best in the neck position, more clarity and sweeter lead sound. It’s a tie for me.
Great and fun video. I have to agree with pretty much everything you said. I think Harley Benton did a excellent job but the Chapman is just overall better from pickups to everything else you mentioned. Both good for the money though.
Thanks so much mate, that means a lot to me and I'm stoked you enjoyed it! Yeah absolutely, two very good options but the Chapman is just the best out of the two for sure 🤘
Woah, that was close! But I still like Chapman the most. One thing I heard about the HB is that they use 500k pots instead 25k active pots, that's why the EMGs doesn't sound good. I saw this issue in a few minutes. Maybe you can check it and try to do that change!
Interesting! Thanks for the tip off dude. I haven’t even had the cavity plate off it so I dunno but if that’s true then it’s a pretty big mistake imo. I’ll check it out! Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars correction: I saw that issue in some videos* Yeah, I still don't get it. Active pickups with 500k pots.. but, if you can, let me know if you find that issue too and if you change the pots. I would like to heard your thoughts on the change of sound. Keep rocking your videos man!
Thanks for checking out the video mate! Absolutely, the HB is very good for what it is. That said, for this modern t-style face off the Chapman is way ahead in my opinion. Cheers dude 🤘
Harley Benton put up a freaking heck of a fight, but I agree the Chapman for that price was the gem!! Another great video brother. Hey what acoustics do you use, if ever?
Thank you as always my dude, I appreciate it! So, if I play an acoustic (which isn’t super often 😂) I’ve been playing the Ibanez Nylon I got recently. But I’ve got a couple with some sentimental value that we’re my dads that I intend on writing with. Nothing fancy but they’re special.
The price difference was kind of the point, dude. The HB is shooting for a higher market than it’s in so I wanted to talk about how well it holds up. Cheers for watching mate 🤘
I mean based on sound alone, I wouldn't turn my nose up at either of them! Not gonna lie though, I've had a HB and a Chapman before and got to agree that the build quality is worlds apart (at least on the Chapman Pros, haven't tried a Standard) - the fact that I let the HB go but still have the Chapman and will probably keep it is testament to that!
@@JackTaylorGuitarsclose though… the HB got you closer to a raw-tribal, Gojira-like tone. The SD Pegasus set though kicked butt however in the high-fidelity stakes imo.
Same dude. I love teles, but the traditional teles with no contours/cuts are pretty uncomfortable. I have a squier cabronita baritone, and it literally bruised my forearm when I first got it, lol. Im used to it now, but I'm strongly considering taking a grinder to it 😂
Great 👍🏻 vid buddy! I'm torn on which one I'd choose personally myself lol...considering there isn't s Chapman deal out here in the great furnace state of AZ(Arizona) lol I mean home 😂😂 Though I'm a MASSIVE. MASSIVE Harley Benton Fan, I'd go for the Chapman hands down. Might sound ridiculously ludicrous, but my reasoning for the Chapman is 90% ascetic the other 10% curiosity. Guitars that are in my personal collection, probably a good solid 65% of them are Solid Black lol safe to say even Out of my 23+ yrs of playing/owning (and doing the trade-in system) Guitars, that I'm burnt/done with 'Solid Gloss Black' as a color spot choice. Actually, just picked up a 2015 Jackson JS34QMBBBT for a steal of a price!
Thanks so much my dude! I 100% get that reasoning dude, it makes loads of sense. I’m also quite burnt out on black guitars. There’s got to be something else special about them for me to want them, you know? Sounds like a good get on the Jackson mate! Thanks again dude 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars more than welcome buddy! Always enjoy the content you put out.. And yea, the quilt blue w/a Floyd Rose Trem for $219, their only used trem guitar too lol
Thanks for checking out the video mate! The frets were pretty good, not bad at all, but they did need a slight polish to get to where I wanted them. That's about it, no problems! 🤘
hello there don't disagree - the Chapman is the better guitar. however currently its £777 on Thomann; the HB is £388. a difference of £389. you can't really says its apples n' apples would be interested to see how the HB performs against the less expensive ML3 modern - its £524, has Chapman pickups, bolt on neck, basswood body, non-locking tuners even if the cheaper Chapman is the better guitar, would the £135 saved would allow you to get a tech to do a full set up and potentially some simple mods. find the pots / wriring on inexpensive guitars can be a bit meh any road - great video again - have a good one!
Thanks very much dude, I appreciate you checking the video out and the kind words! For sure, there's a big difference in price. I'm definitely an affordable guitars type of dude but I guess what I was trying to show with this video was where the extra money goes. Specs are cool but they have to have been done well and in this case we're a bit spoiled because the HB is great but the Chapman is just so much better. However, if folks are in the market for an affordable T-style with great specs then that's there too because the HB is far from a bad option. It's all a preference thing I guess! Thanks again mate, all the very best to you 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars totally understand - i picked up an AVRI '62 Strat used for half the price of used. its great to get a guitar with all the bells n whistles for just the price of the bells keep up the good work buddy!
I liked the video very much but I don't think you touched on whether either guitar has a forearm bevel. I believe the Harley Benton does and the Chapman does not. To me, this is HUGE when it comes to comfort and playability. I don't have experience with either of these models but the Chapman Pro model at twice the price seems like an apples to oranges comparison with the Harley Benton. I believe Chapman makes a less expensive ML3 that would be a more level playing field.
I don't think I did mention a bevel actually, sorry about that! You're right though, the chapman doesn't because it's a carved top. I actually see these two models are more of a straight comparison, if you don't think about the price, the HB and the Chapman have very similar specs. They're both shooting for the same type of player, that's why I battled em! Thanks for watching bro 🤘
Chapmans have never appealed to me until this last year or so. They've caught my eye in a few videos now with designs thay seem to flow better and some awesome finishes. The hardware looks top notch and imo cut through better than the fusion. Credit where credits due they appear to have put a lot of work into making the brand look and feel much more premium. I've turned down swaps for them in the past but I'm keen to try one of these newer ones.
Yes dude! I’m with you, was never that bothered about them until I tried this and it’s a sick guitar. I love it! Appreciate you checking out the video mate, cheers 🤘
@JackTaylorGuitars no worries mate. TH-cam has been good at recommending more channels with >10k followers to me lately. Honestly from the quality I just assumed this was a much bigger channel than it is. Great work man.
I'll put my money towards Harley Benton. I don't know what it is, but something about Chapman doesn't sit right with me; he gives off those used car salesman vibes and I don't trust him.
I agree, I don't think it's surprising the Chapman is the better guitar either. But what I do find surprising is what you get for the price of the HB. You rightly said the pickups, they're great, but overall it definitely punches above its weight. I'd choose the ML3 every time but the HB is a great option for players with less disposable income imo. Thanks for checking out the video man! 🤘
Chapman easily is better. HB can be a good practice/lug around guitar, no question, especially for short sessions like this. When you have to grind though? All the intangibles of the Chappy destroy the HB. Weight, balance, tuning, durability, sustain etc.
To me the chugging sounded on par but in the rest of the playthrough Chapman did a tad better, the sound was more clear and "bright". Is it worth 450€ extra? Personally I don't think so, I'd invest them in better amp or pedals. Harley Benton continues to improve I just hope their guitar don't end up costing as much as American Fenders 😂 Btw your pinkie looks freaking long and I'm jealous. lol
I’m with you on that sound wise, for sure. Completely agree with what you said! From a playability standpoint and overall quality, that extra £450ish is more than worth it for me personally. Like you said, Amos are worth investing in because that’s where your tone is, so making sure the guitar feels and plays great is a must. Haha I don’t think HB will ever end up super premium, or let’s hope anyway 🤣 Erm, I guess they are kind of long dude hahah I dunno why! Thanks for checking out the video mate, I appreciate it 🤘
Accents fascinate me...and Ive been trying to work out yours... Im going to guess...somewhere around South Yorkshire??? 🤔 (Dont have a go at me if youre a Lancastrian! 😅)
Hey 👋dude , its hard for me to decide between them . I think that the Chapman had a bit more punch during the solo 🤔. Honesty, though, I am impressed with the tones of both guitars . Are you running them into Neural Dsp Quad cortex ? I am considering trying out a Line 6 Helix soon because the guitarists of the Contortionist use helix and I'm keen to be able to experiment with my sound. Also, I feel like my amps don't do my guitars justice . Anyway I dig the riffs you were playing man!! It sounded awesome :)! Rock on 🤘
Hey bro! I agree, the Chapman has a bit more cut sound wise but playability wise it’s not even close for me. The Chapman takes it every time, obviously that’s hard to explain over video. I actually did track with my quad cortex but also captured DI at the same time and ended up reamping with Neural DSP Gojira for this one’s riffs and Rabea for the solos. Thanks my dude speak soon 🤘
@JackTaylorGuitars Playability is super important. I don't care what other people say , if you're fighting your guitar it is much harder to enjoying playing. I know some people like a heavy guitar or something that fights them though so each to their own
@JackTaylorGuitars ooooh multiple Neural Dsp archetypes! There's way too much gear with amp simulating haha I have no idea which is the best. So I'll have to do my research! Thanks for explaining that, bro! Have a great day 😀!!
@@Nickshreds890 You’re totally right man, playability is paramount for me! And yeah, there’s a lot of tech to look into but once you get into it you’ll be fine man! 👊
@JackTaylorGuitars Absolutely! Playability is so important:) . Honestly I'm pretty excited to dip my toes into modelling and discover all the glorious tones!! I was thinking on Pickups after watching this video and from my memory my favourite pickups so far include the Fishman active o pickups in the Strandberg NX 7 they just resonate beautifully for clean classical guitar playing and they also kick ass for metal and prog with high gain!
Dude, I have to admit to being a HB fan, simply because they provide a great product, for a very modest price. Here where the competitor (who in my highly trafficked commerce part of the world , has no dealers) it makes no sense to compare a twice as much product to the HB. In that the HB can even make it close, it has really won , in that its "shortcomings" can be easily addressed , and still cost less than the Chapman. In that you bought the Chap used? Does not make for a fair comparison.
Thanks for checking out the video dude, I appreciate it! I’m also a fan of HB, the fusion-t is absolutely a great guitar. I guess the reason I think this is a fair comparison is that, for the spec, the Chapman is correctly priced at it’s RRP. It’s the HB that is priced ‘wrong’ according to the market as they’re able to undercut due to their unique position being Thomanns house brand. That’s great for players though how want a solid guitar for cheap. Thanks again dude! 🤘
I got the feeling that Chapman are paying a lot of influencers now, to get away from the negative slack they got lately... Because I see a lot of very positive Chapman guitar reviews all of a sudden ;-)
It’s totally fine to be sceptical mate, as you should be. I can’t speak for other channels, and obviously you don’t know me from Adam, but I bought this myself and reviewed it before ever having been in touch with Chapman. This guitar is sick! I don’t recall there being a massive number of bad reviews in the past either, the guitars have always been good as far as I can tell. It’s obviously just everything that went on before put them in a bit of a negative light. It’s almost a shame that you can’t just like a Chapman now without people thinking you’ve been paid 😂 Anyway, I appreciate you watching dude regardless, thank you 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars it was not personal, for starters as I enjoy your channel, but there was some negativity about Rob Chapman himself: sure you’ve seen several videos? That combined with now popping up various positive reviews on his brand, just made me a bit sceptic indeed. Great explanation (which you didn’t need to do ofcourse), but very appreciated.
I appreciate that dude and don’t worry, people should ask questions about stuff. I feel like the whole online marketing thing can be super scummy so people should be careful with what they’re watching! I do definitely know of the controversy a few years ago. From a layman’s perspective, it would be silly for the brand to ignore that and they do need to recover from it which I think they’re well on their way to doing. However, the one thing I will say about Chapman Guitars from speaking with them is that they know this but they’re also not being unethical about it. For example, they have sent me two of the Standard series to try out on a loan basis. I’m not being paid but I get to enjoy the guitars and make some videos with them which is great. Their specific instruction was to do the review how I feel it should be done, free reign to be completely honest. Basically, they’ve got confidence in their product and want honest videos out there for people to see and I think that’s very respectable. Sorry for the big reply dude but I hope you find it interesting anyway! Cheers bro 🤘
I get the feeling that in the next 5 years we'll be getting more expensive guitars from harley benton. I think eventually the brand snobbery will deminish The big manufacturers really need to take notice, they have been trading on the name and lifestylenfor too long talking to you gibson. I love the dark roast 2 of my hb basses have similar finish and the necks feel great. Even the cheaper ones are just great modding platforms and i think thomann have realized this.
The Harley Benton won me over in the sound department. I just love how flame maple necks (especially when it's roasted)enhances the look of a guitar. That ugly headstock on the chapman is way too distracting for me. Mentally i would have a problem posing with that ugly headstock. Actually the headstock is ugly on both of them, lol. The one thing the Chapman got that really got my attention is that neck joint. As far as looks go the Harley got the Chapman beat.
Cheers for watching dude, I appreciate it! They're both sick so it's cool to know what people think. Gotta say though, maybe I'm just wrong somehow, but I love the reverse headstocks 😂 Thanks again mate!
Hey mate! Thanks so much for this review;) I was very impressed by this Fusion T EMG HT Roasted SBK I got mine immediately when they were out, I wanted to try and giving a chance to this brand so often criticized and even tough I had to change strings, polished the frets, setting the action lower and Radius gauge adjustment, this is now a real beast and the roasted neck is just great, as well of those EMG pickups Retro Active Hot 70 and the black satin color. I made two covers on my Channel with it ;) I was recently really interested by the Chapman one and after your review I think I will definitely buy it in their blue color, btw there is currently a discount in my Guitar Store ;) Thank you 🤘🏻
I had both the Chapman is better. Harley Benton doing nice job, but the paint job is awfull for a matte Guitar. Greasy fingers 2.0. Build quality is better on the chapman, as so for the parts. Still Got the Chapman. No real contest really.
I’m 100% with you on that dude. Depending on what you can spend they’re both great options but the Chapman is just the better guitar for sure. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Why would you compare guitars that aren't in the same price range? We'd all expect the more expensive one to be better but now in these times expensive doesn't always mean better
You’ve just made my point dude. Expensive doesn’t always mean better, that’s why I compared two very similar guitars with very similar specs. Thanks for checking it out 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars the Chapman clearly won that battle, I have the strat version of your tele and it's great out of the box except....I did have to set it up and I had to file down the frets on the bottom of the neck the were way too long and it hurt my hand when I was playing. Not sure if you had any issues with your tele or not?
I think so too dude, it’s killer. Not to take anything anyway from the HB cause that’s a great guitar too for the money but there’s just levels I guess. You had problems with a Chapman or a HB dude? Fortunately, both of mine have been fine. Chapman was used but I’m amazing condition, just store played. The HB needed some minor fret polishing and a little set up. Not a lot which was good.
I'm not a fan of Teles at all, but got this Chapman for 600 euros brand new last month and it's so good. It's my first Korean guitar and I will definitely not but any more Indonesian guitars from now on. The neck quality, the rounded finger board edges and the silky smooth frets make for such a great experience. I also have 2 Hbs, one being an Amarok 7 that I bought for the same price as the Chapman and also has locking tuner and stainless steel frets but even after a professional setup which included fret polishing, it doesn't feel as good as a chapman. Think I'm gonna go for a Korean LTD next :D
You’re completely right dude, that’s exactly how I feel about it. Just an awesome guitar! Thanks for checking out the video dude and I hope you enjoy the LTD when you get your hands on it 🤘
Charvel make great guitars, I’ve had 3. The Style 2 is better than the HB but you’d hope so for the price, right? It’s definitely not better than the Chapman but that’s just my experience. Cheers for watching dude! 🤘
It is a question I’ve thought about dude in relation to the Chapman Standard line and the HB, but this Chapman pro is made in South Korea so these two definitely aren’t. In terms of the more affordable Chapman, I don’t think they are either from what I can tell but I’m not 100%. Good thinking though mate and thanks for checking out the video 🤘
we're listening - our ML1 Pro Baritone is 28" scale. And plans for a tele Baritone are on the agenda to discuss in our design meeting. So never say never.
Sorry dude, maybe I could have done a better job of explaining. It’s the fact they both have very similar specs and shapes that makes them worth comparing. The difference in price is kind of the big question here. Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
They are the same guitar made in the same factory at different price points with different hardware and quality of build two offset the price That's the only difference One is branded Harley Benton and the other one is branded Chapman but you're like falling on your knees ready to suck off Chapman without mentioning that they have had a ton of quality control issues and you can TH-cam and find this very easily and I have seen the issues in person myself if you get a good one they're good if you don't they're not and if you take that in contrast with the quality and price of the Harley Benton I feel the Harley Benton is better because you're paying half the price and you're expecting possible flaws in some places that you're going to have to address when you get it instead of paying $900 for a guitar that you expect to not have any flaws and then getting one with a warped neck or something else so all in all as far as quality and value Harley y Benton is more appropriately priced than the Chapman
Thanks for watching the video mate. Couple of things. The Chapman is made in Korea, and the Harley Benton is made in China so we can be sure that they’re not made in the same factory. The fact of the matter is they’re both great guitars. You’re allowed to like one more than the other but the Chapman is the better guitar and a couple of TH-cam videos about quality aren’t a reflection of the whole. The exact same can be said about my experience of these guitars too. Long story short, if you don’t like Chapman guitars that’s totally cool. Buy what you want man but I do like them so I made a video about it. Thanks again 🤘
That’s totally fair, we can’t like everyone and wanting everyone to like us is a futile task anyway, right? Personally, I’ve never spoken with him so couldn’t make any judgement but I will say that the guitars are killer! Thanks for checking out the video anyway mate, I appreciate it 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars I think he's a great player, but I also find him to be a complete pratt. I also accept he might feel the same way about me and that's fine. It was a good vid but in my opinion if you spent a little sorting the HB out it would probably be just as good and still be quite a bit cheaper.
Yeah man, totally valid! Erm, kind of maybe? The HB is a great guitar, don't get me wrong, I recommend it to loads of people in terms of what you get but it just doesn't have the same quality to me and, I mean, how could it? Mass produced in China with lower quality materials and less attention to detail. I think there's definitely a point of diminishing returns on guitars for sure but the Chapman is just a better product to me, personally.
@@JackTaylorGuitars You have both guitars in your hands, you definitely know better than me. Your jam tracks are really good mate and I like your channel and respect your views.
That's a shame man. It's cool you don't like him though, we can't like everyone, but the brand has got a lot of really great people working on making these guitars. Personally, Chappers has been cool to me and so have the other dudes but I can only give you my perspective! Thanks for watching mate I appreciate it 🤘
There’s definitely a difference dude but it’s close because the amp I used was very high gain, in hindsight I’d have dialed that back a bit. Pickups absolutely matter though, just not as much as the amp. Appreciate you checking out the video mate 🤘
My ears must not be very good. If you didnt' show us which guitar you were playing, I wouldn't have known you changed. They sound the same to me. That's using headphones also.
Nah, I don't think it's your ears at all honestly. They're both a similar type of guitar going through the same setup so it's definitely not as drastic as Strat vs. les paul or something like that. To me there's a difference and I've got a preference but it's not big enough to obsess over I guess. It'll always be your amp that makes the most difference. Thanks for watching mate! 🤘
I wouldn’t say I’ve ever sworn by the HB. It’s a killer guitar but it’s never been my main guitar, just a fantastic deal. In terms of comparison, put the specs sheets side by side and you’ll see why I put them together. The HB is trying to offer what the Chapman does but for much less, and it does a great job, but it isn’t the better guitar. I’d be lying if I said it was. Cost doesn’t mean anything when the specs are close, so it comes down to how it feels to play and sounds. The Chapman smashes the HB in that regard. Hope that helps clear up my choices dude! Thanks for watching 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars ok ,maybe time you try the Ormsby GTI 6 ...much more guitar than your chapman for the same money... good luck body the day you want to resale your HB (maybe you get 250 for it for the most...
I would like to get an Ormsby on the channel mate! Don't worry about that dude, I'd never buy a Harley Benton expecting much resale. I never actually buy guitars thinking about how much they'll be worth when I sell them. I just buy 'em cause I want to play em and see what they're like!
I guess that depends on your perspective man. The HB is killer for the cost but I don't think they'd get close to the quality of the chapman without a bit more investment. Who's to say? Cheers for watching dude 🤘
Thanks for explaining dude. I'd love to play more in my videos but people skip the demos according to my analytics so I try to play just enough to get the point across. But I am doing more playing specific videos this year. Sorry my first reply was a little short, I do appreciate you watching 🤘
@@gautiergogo9185 Yeah dude, I think it’s great for the price. I still have mine and intend on keeping it for a long time. The pickups in particular sound great!
As a progressive guitarist I've never really been drawn to teles, but after this I'm considering getting one lol.
Could possibly be my new favourite guitar channel, the lack of H's on 'Arley Benton and 'Ipshot made me feel right at home ahahahah Mint video lad!
Thanks so much mate! That genuinely means a huge amount to me and it’s good to have a top class northern bloke like yoursen around 😉🤘
The tuning excuse is my favourite 😂
I appreciate you mate, thanks so much 🤘

Keep up with content man, you have sick vibes and you’re not too shabby with a six string either. Appreciate you replying back to my comment 🙌✌️
I've got my Fusion-T (LAF Alnico-5 HH) as my first electric guitar.
Up until then I was learning on a classical Ibanez and an electric ART120, also Ibanez from my girl. The Fusion-T plays so much easier. Though still a beginner, it's really easy to bend and that neck is perfect to me. The ART120 had a gloss neck and I constantly got stuck when sliding. Love it, can't put it down !
Yeah man that's awesome! They really are great, glad you're having a good time with it! Thanks for checking out the video man 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars Solid video, will definitely check the rest out !
That means a lot to me mate, thank you 🙇🏻♂️
I like how they have the bridge pickup a touch more forward on the Benton.
Yeah that's a good point dude! Thanks for watching mate 🤘
My Harley, Benton, Les Paul and I got a Stratocaster with that paint job, and it turns shiny
Yeah man, it absolutely does wear in. I've found some quicker than others but I think it's just a satin thing! Thanks for checking out the video dude 🤘
I bought the Harley Benton (Cabronita copy) and it kicks ass!
Yes dude, I'm glad you're stoked on it! Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Ml3 pro modern replaced my ltd ec1000 and schecter syn, absolutely love it and pickups, mines korean model. Cyber grey.
Dude, the cyber grey model is so sick! I’m glad you love it. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Thanks for checking out the video man, I appreciate it 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars LTD '87 Eclipse NT in pearl white is my other "metal" T. Exact opposite of its stable mate, but equally cool nonetheless. Peace.

Like reviews like that which aren't just "oh, this guitar is unreal!!", keep your style! :)
I got my Harley Benton today after your review, and i like everything but have one big problem:
If i want to pull out the cable of the Guitar Jack, its nearly impossible.
I hope it feels like that 😅
Actually dude, yes!
I completely agree with you my dude! These necks are awesome. Thanks for checking out the video and the kind words mate 🤘
I cant see myself giving Nob Chapman another penny of mine so its the HB all the way 👍
That's totally fair. We don't have to like everyone but man, the guitars are so good. I appreciate you checking out the video regardless mate, thank you 🙏
Great video !!! What kind of Seymour Duncan’s are I. The Chapman again? Also, would you choose the Chapman over a Jim root tele? 🤔…
Cheers my dude! It’s the Sentient and Pegasus set, they’ve ended up being one of my favourite sets of pickups. I used to have the Jim Root tele and it was a great guitar but yeah, I’d choose the Chapman ML3 Pro Modern every time 🤘
This HB is closer to Standard series from Chapman. Bolt on, flat top, price.
Nice video man.
Could you sometimes paly a chord or two on some JCM800? ;)
Cheers mate, that’s kind of you to say! I’ll see what I can do 😂
Lets be honest, the difference is 10% in value and 250% in price. Get the HB and be done with it knowing you haven’t been duped
I appreciate it 🤘
I’ve been really thinking about taking the plunge on the Fusion T EMG and was looking at a Chapman ML3bea previously…
I don’t get involved in the politics, but both suffer from QC control issues at times…
Gotta admit, for me it’ll be the ML3 purely because the Duncan’s sound fuller than the EMG and I’m a big fan of set and through neck designs.
Cheers for taking the time to do this review because it’s made me realise that while I really fancy the Fusion T, I’m gonna focus on building my own metal caster 😀
I completely agree dude, if not from a feel and quality perspective, the ML3 definitely has the better pups!

I'm surprised that HB didn't go with a set neck.
It is well doable for the price. I have two HBs with set necks.

@@JackTaylorGuitars very nice guitars. I've been shopping HB's Amarok line as well. Never played a baratone, but it looks very interesting.
Yeah man the Amarok's are awesome. One of the dudes who watches the channel just picked up one recently and he's really happy with it!

I was inspired by your video and I managed to snag an orange chapman for £310! Not a mark on it either
Dude, that is an awesome price! Congrats on the new guitar 🤘
i like the harley benton more for the price i preffer bolt ons over set necks the fretwork i cna change myself the biggest downer for me is thatn they went for emg and i despice active pickups their nack is alright i mean remeber what u got for the same money 10 years ago? i sure did a couple of cut open fingers from fretwork and a terible sound what id id in the past wiht a harley benton is buy an ibanez neck and chuck it on there since yes it fits and works great aswell
Interesting! Thanks for checking out the video dude 🤘
Maybe when I start saying "Back in my days!", I might own a proper Tele or two, only time will tell. lol
There are two Vola guitars that I'm somewhat interested in, both are signature models of the guys from Kadinja (don't know much about them, apart from knowing that they're a Djent group), and one of them is Vola's take on the T-style, the Vasti.
I can definitely see what you mean man! Thanks so much for checking out the video too dude 🤘
Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars correction: I saw that issue in some videos*
Yeah, I still don't get it. Active pickups with 500k pots.. but, if you can, let me know if you find that issue too and if you change the pots. I would like to heard your thoughts on the change of sound.

A shoot out of guitars with one being almost 3x the cost of the other? HB all the way!
Absolutely dude, I am fully with you on that! Cheers for checking out the video man, I appreciate it 🤘
Chapman takes it in sound
I’ve got to agree with you dude! Thanks for checking out the video man 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitarsclose though… the HB got you closer to a raw-tribal, Gojira-like tone.

@@JackTaylorGuitars Thanks man, I appreciate the reply and info
Anytime my dude!
hello there
don't disagree - the Chapman is the better guitar. however
currently its £777 on Thomann; the HB is £388. a difference of £389. you can't really says its apples n' apples
would be interested to see how the HB performs against the less expensive ML3 modern - its £524, has Chapman pickups, bolt on neck, basswood body, non-locking tuners
even if the cheaper Chapman is the better guitar, would the £135 saved would allow you to get a tech to do a full set up and potentially some simple mods. find the pots / wriring on inexpensive guitars can be a bit meh
any road - great video again - have a good one!
Thanks again mate, all the very best to you 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars totally understand - i picked up an AVRI '62 Strat used for half the price of used. its great to get a guitar with all the bells n whistles for just the price of the bells

It absolutely is! Thank you my dude, I appreciate it! 🤘
That means a lot to me mate, thank you so much 🙇🏻♂️
I'll put my money towards Harley Benton. I don't know what it is, but something about Chapman doesn't sit right with me; he gives off those used car salesman vibes and I don't trust him.
That’s totally fair mate, I mean, we can’t like everybody! Appreciate you checking out the video too, thank you! 🤘
It shud of bin twice the price dude so is it a surprise really I don't think so.... The fusions pickups are the only thing that is in its favor
That’s a very good way to look at it dude! And thanks for checking out the video, I appreciate it 🤘
To me the chugging sounded on par but in the rest of the playthrough Chapman did a tad better, the sound was more clear and "bright". Is it worth 450€ extra? Personally I don't think so, I'd invest them in better amp or pedals. Harley Benton continues to improve I just hope their guitar don't end up costing as much as American Fenders 😂
Btw your pinkie looks freaking long and I'm jealous.
Haha I don’t think HB will ever end up super premium, or let’s hope anyway 🤣
Erm, I guess they are kind of long dude hahah I dunno why! Thanks for checking out the video mate, I appreciate it 🤘
Accents fascinate me...and Ive been trying to work out yours...
Im going to guess...somewhere around South Yorkshire???
🤔
(Dont have a go at me if youre a Lancastrian! 😅)
😂 You’re stop on mate, yeah! I am indeed from South Yorkshire!
It’s almost a shame that you can’t just like a Chapman now without people thinking you’ve been paid 😂
Anyway, I appreciate you watching dude regardless, thank you 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars it was not personal, for starters as I enjoy your channel, but there was some negativity about Rob Chapman himself: sure you’ve seen several videos?
@@JackTaylorGuitars yeah man, i really appreciate the effort you took to reply! Thanks for the answer! Cheers mate
Any time dude! You took the time to watch and comment so it's the least I can do! Have a good one bro 🤘
Hell yeah dude, was hoping the Chapman would win 🤘🤘 I agree, it definitely sounds better than the HB, can’t wait to pick one up 😬😬
It’s only my opinion but yeah, the Chapman nailed it dude. It’s so good! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Thanks so much mate 🤘
I get the feeling that in the next 5 years we'll be getting more expensive guitars from harley benton. I think eventually the brand snobbery will deminish
The big manufacturers really need to take notice, they have been trading on the name and lifestylenfor too long talking to you gibson.
I love the dark roast 2 of my hb basses have similar finish and the necks feel great.
Even the cheaper ones are just great modding platforms and i think thomann have realized this.
It’s definitely going to be interesting to see where HB go in the next few years mate! Cheers for checking out the video dude 🤘
They sounded exactly the same and the harley benton looks better. So i guess id go with the hb but i also never had a chapman in my hands.
Thanks so much for checking out the video mate! 🤘
I made two covers on my Channel with it ;) I was recently really interested by the Chapman one and after your review I think I will definitely buy it in their blue color, btw there is currently a discount in my Guitar Store ;) Thank you 🤘🏻
Thanks so much bro, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 🤘
I’m interested in getting this guitar but What does “polishing the frets, setting the action lower and Radius gauge adjustment” mean?
Thanks for checking out the video dude and I hope you enjoy the LTD when you get your hands on it 🤘
charvel so cal style 2 can be a worthy opponent
Totally. Charvel make great guitars! Would be interesting to see how it does. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Charvel do one too and it's loaded with Duncans. I have one and it's much better than these.
Charvel make great guitars, I’ve had 3. The Style 2 is better than the HB but you’d hope so for the price, right? It’s definitely not better than the Chapman but that’s just my experience. Cheers for watching dude! 🤘
There is a difference in sound.Chapman is fuller and wormer. But none of guitars sounds like a TELE.Not at all.
Thanks for checking out the video mate! I fully agree and I'm all about that. No twang for me thanks 😂 Thanks again dude!
Probably made in the same factory, on the same line? 🤔
Make that Chapman a single pickup in 28" scale and TAKE MY MONEY!!!
You listening, Chapman?
Mate, I'd absolutely play that! Sounds like a beast. Cheers for checking the video out dude 🤘
we're listening - our ML1 Pro Baritone is 28" scale. And plans for a tele Baritone are on the agenda to discuss in our design meeting. So never say never.
👀👀👀
@@chapmanguitars HELLS YEAH!!!
Who wants a metal guitar with perfect finish an without any dings and dongs? Comment below why you want something so disgusting
No dongs on my guitar please, thanks. That would make it incredibly difficult to play 🤘
I don't understand.. Shouldn't you be comparing Harley Benton with Like.. Jett or Firefly.. Something that er.. Costs the same.. 🤔
For me personally if it's got Nob Chapmans name on it, I'm not interested.
@@JackTaylorGuitars Just subscribed, well worth watching. Where are you from?
Like vid cant trust chapman he just is too sketchy and cant buy from someone like that 😔
That's a shame man. It's cool you don't like him though, we can't like everyone, but the brand has got a lot of really great people working on making these guitars. Personally, Chappers has been cool to me and so have the other dudes but I can only give you my perspective! Thanks for watching mate I appreciate it 🤘
Could not hear any difference but then again its been proven that pick ups does not matter.
FUNNY,few month ago you only swear by the HB, now a 400 VS 900 Guitars is like apple and banana ,so if it s pretty closed, then the HB is the winner
The headstocks look awful on both of them. No thanks.
To each there own my dude! Definitely not for sum but, personally, I think they’re awesome. Thanks for checking out the video dude 🤘
Chapman way over priced
I guess that depends on your perspective man. The HB is killer for the cost but I don't think they'd get close to the quality of the chapman without a bit more investment. Who's to say? Cheers for watching dude 🤘
