Watching this film was the greatest movie watching experience of my life. I was flying back from a solo trip to Japan. So on the flight back I remember trying to think of a friend to go see Blade Runner 2049 with. But all of a sudden it hit me - why not see the movie alone!? I got really excited! As soon as I landed home I bought tickets to a 10.20 pm show. The theater was somewhat empty, but the fact that I was watching alone allowed me to really really appreciate every detail of the movie. OMG I get goosebumps thinking about it.. And then, when the movie ended, there was no one to talk to because I was alone. So I walked out of the theater, with the beautiful soundtrack playing in my head. I felt like I was walking slower, doing everything slower. I got on my bike and started biking down Market Street (San Francisco). Soundtrack still playing in my head, the night was dark, windy with garbage flying all over the place and there were homeless people all over Market street (as there always is).. @@stonecastle858 just hear me out. The first blade runner was really good in terms of style and the whole artsy factor. I loved the vangelis score and I loved the theme and feel of the movie. The characters however were baddddd. Super boring. Lot of dumb coincidences happened, some characters have poor dialog and shitty motivations that aren't explored. Harrison Ford's and the replicant ladys romance felt out of place and unnecessary or forced, and so on. The only good scene was the tears in the rain scene. That scene was really good. But, unfortunately, one good scene, doth not a film make. The second one was waayyyyyy better in every single aspect. The characters felt real and had compelling motivations. The theme of the previous film carried on and had more to show. The dialog is superb and nothing in the plot felt unnecessary or forced. The second one never managed to make me bored either. I get that nostalgia is a huge part of why the original is given more love, but nostalgia can turn any peice of entertainment into a spectacle.
@@pmm1767 My opinion only of course, but the first film is superior. Visually, it is sublime. The new one tries really hard and succeds in places, but ultimately loses the atmosphere of the first. The score is incomparable. Few films come close to that of Vangelis. Again the new one tries but falls short. Plot and characterisation. Ambiguity and knowing less is an artisitic decision that works many films and especially in the original. In 2049 there is too much exposition and revelation. The dialogue in the first is wonderful - as long as you watch the directors cut without the horrendous voiceover. The following dialogue or that which precedes or follows is just wonderful. "Tell me about your mother" "Do you like our owl?" "Fiery the angels fell" "If only you could see the things I've seen with your eyes" "I want more life, fokker/fucker" "Tears in rain" "Too bad she won't live, but then again who does?" That last line for example, is one of the best, meaning both no one ultimately survives, but also that we don't fully live while we're here. There's layers. The story raises so many profound and intriguing questions about our responsibility towards what we create - including our own children. And yes, our planet too. It asks both what it means to be human and also whether something artifical can ever be of equal or similar value, especially if it has the ability to "feel". There is just so much more depth and gravitas to the original. Yes in 2049 your heart breaks for K and you see how he wants to be human, but it is not the same. The wider themes are well explored but again, do not have the depth of the first. Stylistically as well, the second lacks slightly in that it diverges from the "noir" template too much.
I bought a 4K and 4K blu Ray player so I could watch this in the best quality. This is legitimately the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen. Visually and audibly. I love the first movie but honestly this movie surpasses the original for me
Yeah the first certainly had the best ending and the rest is a masterclass in film making. But 2049 is still a fantastic addition to the universe. Both are masterpieces.
Sapper's theme and seawall get me every time, chills down the back of my neck. Love listing to this mix while coding or exploring planets in Mass Effect.
I can't help wonder what it was like for people who weren't obsessed with the original. I have no idea. But for me, I was weeping when Vangelis' music blended into the miracle of life at the end. Denis V. is the best director working today.
I just can't get over how much this music is a complement to the movie. It's just enough to tell you you're in a different place, but even in the most dramatic scenes it isn't overbearing.
Original was so drab and soulless compared to 2049. The characters were like pawns to the okayish plot and only the last scene explored the philosophical themes the movie was going for
hated by humans and also by replicants for being a blade runner. Deep down it shows the feelings of each one of us... sometimes we are loved, sometimes hated! The 2049 saga made me cry... like tears in the rain... so nostalgic! One of the best films of all time, when I watch both feature films I remember Vangelis... and his eternal music! Vangelis lives in our memories... through his cybernetic orchestra!
Happy to say I saw BR2049 in an Imax theatre filled with other Blade Runner fans and we loved it. Awe inspiring, intensely thought-provoking, and visually unforgettable. A profound experience for film lovers.
THIS, my friends, is why I'm so thankful. I have seen a miracle. I cannot believe we were this lucky. Best film in 2017 in so, so many ways. Blade Runner, continued masterfully.
my whole body was filled with adrenaline when i came out of the theater. i'd hadnt ever seen something so beautiful and profound since watching the original masterpiece for the first time the night before. two of the most artistic films in the history of cinema
A cyberpunk masterpiece. Seeing this on the big screen after a few puffs of a joint was next level incredible. Movies like this are, sadly, rare these days. True piece of big screen art.
in 1982 my dad went to the cinema alone to watch blade runner. He says that to this day, it is one of the films that has always stuck with him, and has been a favourite of his since its original release. He first showed me the original film when I was about 10. although I didnt understand most of what was going on, I was blown away by how different it was visually and thematically to anything I had ever seen from a film before. and while most ofthe film didnt really stick with me in terms of plot, the scene on the roof with rutger effected me quite deeply and is still one of my all time favourite moments in cinema. By 2017 I had started to see quite a bit of my dad. He had been quite distant since he and my mother got a divorce when I was 12, but he had found himself in a good place and we were trying to make up for lost time by seeing each other from time to time. When I mentioned that there was a new blade runner film coming out we both knew instantly that we should both go and see it together. So, late in october in 2017, me and my dad found ourselves in a large IMAX theatre miles away from where we both lived. Neither of us knowing much about what the film was going to be like. we got there early and had a good chat while the cinema filled up with a handful of people. When the lights dimmed and the sound of this score came on we both got quiet real quickly. Within a few minutes I knew that we were in for a treat. To this day the sequel is one of my favourite films of all time. If you have seen it, you will know why.
Best sci-fi I've seen in decades. The ambiance of this movie is incredible. I can't stop listening to this. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. So beautiful. Good job.
This film's music is transcendent. It's that level of music that is so good that it pulls you into its world whether you want it to or not, but then you realize that there's absolutely no reason why you wouldn't want it to.
I never liked the first BR. Always felt drab and dead, no soul. The characters were like unfeeling pawns to the okayish plot. Only the last scene actually had a philosophical impact, everything else was meh.
@BartLx I saw it recently only, so maybe nostalgia is playing a part in your liking it. Seriously. Watch it again. The characters were so boring an unmotivated. Harrison Ford's and the replicant ladys romance was so forced and unnatural. There were so many small things that bugged me as well. Like why is the replicant companies genetic designer living in such a shitty place with no security, on top of that the dude had no survival Instincts. Its stylistic, it was cool in terms of design and the last scene with rutger hauers death was class, however, one good scene doth not a film make. The sequesl is far superior in every way.
I remember seeing concept art for Star Wars & wishing they could make an entire movie closer to that art. To me Blade Runner 2049 scenes look like they were torn strait from the concept artists paintings & lovingly exactly recreated into the theater with out a filter. Nothing of the artist's vision lost. Truly a beautiful movie.
California 2049 is cinema's greatest moment, so far, this century. It is spaced out, psychedelic, and equally as pitiless as it is mighty. It is supreme
tip of the day: if you don't want your beautiful, soul-twisting, atmospheric mix spoiling with adverts, go through and click on them all at the start so they don't interrupt you later.
17:35 Tears in Rain (Originally by Vangelis) It always touches my heart. "I've seen things, you people wouldn't believe, hmmm. ... attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched see Beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments, will be lost in time like tears in rain..."
Could watch this movie and listen to this track on loop for the rest of my life and never get bored. Beyond the capability of words to describe how incredible this film is. Utterly mesmerising. Loved the original as well obviously but this was on equal par in every way.
I really like how TH-cam put a tire commercial in the middle of this song. At least they could have given us an AD about the exciting Off-World Colonies
I’m loving these cyberpunk themes recently because I played Cyberpunk 2077 and watched Edgerunners Cyberpunk, and Altered Carbon, and recently watched Bladerunner 2049. I’m just craving all cyberpunk stuff in media. Games, Movies, Music.
Same feeling. It's utterly beautiful, but I can't explain why. One of those pieces of music that you wish you could experience for the very first time, again and again.
If VR gets to the point where this kind of thing can be done, hi-res etc, with the "feel" of being in the movie[s] Bladerunner, that would be so cool...
Remember back in the day when you listened to ambient mixes online and there were no sudden explosions of euforic salesmen bursting with enthusiasm for selling you some crap resulting in a shock to you, the listener?
I wish they had gotten Vangelis for the 2nd movie. I think I like the 2nd movie better (it had Elvis hologram!), but the music wasn't as inventive as first.
100% agree. The first one was very dead and soul less. The characters felt like pawns to the meh plot and only the last scene explored the philosophical theme of the universe. The second one is far more superior, great characters whose motivations you can feel and the philosophical themes and questions were always there
1983, Paris Montparnasse, j'entrais dans une salle où seulement 8 spectateurs étaient présents. En seulement 10 seconde l'ouverture de Blade Runner m'a scotché sur place !
I had the soundtrack to the film a week before I went to see it, sat in the perfect location and something was off during the adverts, the front right speaker was down about 30%, went to the manager and explained, he was dismissive, and gave me a refund, I asked them to let me know when it was fixed and I'd come back, couple of days later I get a call, they'd fixed it, I was right, got a free showing and my choice of seat, was blown away,, most incredible film and a soundtrack that pushed every button
My only observation...and I do, very much like this soundtrack. Parts of this remind of other recent modern soundtracks. Parts of it sound like a "product of its time" (ideas similar to other soundtracks since 2010). There was very little in Vangelis' soundtrack for Blade Runner that sounded like "early 80s"...it really defined its own sound for that time.
If they did more of this then I'd agree but the whole album was not consistent like the original Vangelis soundtrack, plus using the Blade Runner theme here was not very original.
This is such a soothing, relaxing soundtrack. So much so, I play this when I lay down for the night. No joke, I’ve played it 3 nights in a row and I’m out by the 10 minute mark.
Stunning installation. For me, this turned out to be one of the important films. I was pleased to see people in the cinema collecting things and leaving the hall, unable to appreciate the greatness of this picture.
In the himalayas now and its winter....the town is ghostly and the clouds are on the top...its all hazy with possibility of snow. I am in this track alone...

That last line for example, is one of the best, meaning both no one ultimately survives, but also that we don't fully live while we're here.
I like how the word joi is visible on K's head in this picture almost like she is always on his mind.
Finally watching this in August 2020 really helped to end my spurts of depression throughout the summer.
David felheim its wondeful to hear ur good now its hard battle
I bought a 4K and 4K blu Ray player so I could watch this in the best quality. This is legitimately the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen. Visually and audibly. I love the first movie but honestly this movie surpasses the original for me
Dalton Moen I feel the same too.
Can't beat the ending quote by Roy Batty or the tears and rain ost though. Hard to compare when both films are pros and no cons though.
0:45 The original has an amazing score, but that moment is just breathtaking. It makes the hairs on my arms stand up. Amazing work.
Chris F Agreed, it’s hauntingly beautiful.
@beefyshmegol It's called "Mesa" by Hanz Zimmer
Thanks i've goosebumps now
Saw the new one about a dozen times. Saw the original about 100 times. Love them both.
Original was so drab and soulless compared to 2049. The characters were like pawns to the okayish plot and only the last scene explored the philosophical themes the movie was going for
This movie absolutely blew me away. My only regret is not watching it in the cinema at the time of its release. Truly a masterpiece.
Oh I feel for you. This one was truly made for the theaters.
You don't know how I would like to go back in time just to know and appreciate this beautiful MASTERPIECE in the cinema 👏🏻😭🤯😱💥
Listening to this while writing an essay on Orwell's 1984.
Such a good idea, i will read that book again with this music in the background
How’d you do on the essay?
@@drendansmada Pretty well, I think.
@@mostirrational What did you Study? Literature? Art ?

hated by humans and also by replicants for being a blade runner.
I think this is one of the greatest sequels ever made. Up there with The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Terminator 2, and Top Gun: Maverick!
*Оболденная музыка, просто улетаешь в никуда...*
*Фильм и музыка-легенда!*
*Спасибо талантам, создавшим ЭТО..*
my whole body was filled with adrenaline when i came out of the theater. i'd hadnt ever seen something so beautiful and profound since watching the original masterpiece for the first time the night before. two of the most artistic films in the history of cinema
This was one of the most beautiful films ever shot. My one regret is not seeing this in IMAX.
A cyberpunk masterpiece. Seeing this on the big screen after a few puffs of a joint was next level incredible. Movies like this are, sadly, rare these days. True piece of big screen art.
This wasn’t a good film. It was an art masterpiece. Put this in a museum and don’t let anyone take any photos.
Agree. Although with some editing it could be much more watchable without losing too much.
Not a masterpiece
I agree
Film is art
SURELY you can't be talking about this third-rate sequel to the true original masterpiece?!
in 1982 my dad went to the cinema alone to watch blade runner.
I read your comment while listening to the soundtrack and it was the best feeling of my life, what a beautiful story of you and your father 👏🏻🥺🤯💗💥
Everything about this film is so real and immersive.
The word beautiful would be an understatement for how good the vibes this song gives.........
It's very hard to stay true to the legacy of a cult movie...This film and its music accomplishes this, impressive.
Harikasin abicim
@BartLx hahah gg wp
I think this one is better ..did not like the first that much.
Most movies are just that; movies. This was an experience. Truly an epic film.
It is supreme
tip of the day:
if you don't want your beautiful, soul-twisting, atmospheric mix spoiling with adverts, go through and click on them all at the start so they don't interrupt you later.
Yeah these ads are the bane of my existence. Please consider using adblocker just with this mix! Much easier.
Saw it at the IMAX in California in 2017. I almost cried because it was seeing an old friend from my childhood. This sequel couldn’t have been better.
Alien (1979 ) ambient mix please
And "Aliens", please.
Done!
Oh fuck yes please
Sounds like a great idea.😀
I've searched and listened to many Blade Runner mixes but this has got to be my favourite! Great work.
Such an underrated movie. It will be recognised as a modern master piece in time just as the original is. Excellently done 👌
Humanity regonize genuis very lately
True statement
My God......its full of stars......
0:43 That part always makes my skin stand on end.
Same feeling. It's utterly beautiful, but I can't explain why. One of those pieces of music that you wish you could experience for the very first time, again and again.
Don't you mean "Hair stand on end"? Lol. :)))
Same here on march 16 2024

If VR gets to the point where this kind of thing can be done, hi-res etc, with the "feel" of being in the movie[s] Bladerunner, that would be so cool...
I purchased the soundtrack as soon as it was released. Listen to it in my car all the time. Never get tired of it.
Driving fast through the rain to Sea Wall is an amazing experience lol
Remember back in the day when you listened to ambient mixes online and there were no sudden explosions of euforic salesmen bursting with enthusiasm for selling you some crap resulting in a shock to you, the listener?
This music is haunting. Beautiful.
Listening to this while thunder rumbles and rain softly falls outside on a Sunday afternoon, 02 February, 2020. A sensory experience.
was wondering if someone could animate this still and make it look like he is traveling through a city with the reflections
I could listen to this forever.
almost as good as Vangelis. Decent job for sure! The 'fall down' at 2.43, is killer
as good as vangelis...just different
I wish they had gotten Vangelis for the 2nd movie. I think I like the 2nd movie better (it had Elvis hologram!), but the music wasn't as inventive as first.
This movie was better then the original
So many different meanings and symbolism and mystery
A true work of art
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart 💯
On a parr with the original Vangelis soundtrack???? Yes, very much so.
perhaps
Bottom of the 2 score League by far
I actually like it better than the original.
Seriously ! How am I supposed to relax, when you got four advertisements???
you just fast forward to the end, and just before it finishes,, start again...

Stunning installation. For me, this turned out to be one of the important films. I was pleased to see people in the cinema collecting things and leaving the hall, unable to appreciate the greatness of this picture.
This Movie is a Blessing for the Eyes, Ears and Soul
Liked the movie very much and found the soundtrack beautiful as well. Wallfisch has my attention from now on.
Nice mix, once again!
roothik take a listen to A Cure for Wellness.
Wallfisch also did the amazing variation on Nimrod for Dunkirk I believe.
I will never forget watching this movie at night in cinema with my ex. The music, the tension and the its' story left me speechless.
The first song is so comforting
Sean Lyon make that every doubt you have about a Blade Runner sequel just Dissapear.
yep. monumental.
Love the 5 ad placements that throw the whole vibe off
C'est juste... Magnifique.
hyper - chouette
In the himalayas now and its winter....the town is ghostly and the clouds are on the top...its all hazy with possibility of snow. I am in this track alone...
everything you want to hear
You ever just sit in your car after a shit show of a shift at work n listen to this? It’s pretty lit man definitely give it a try
The first was one of my father's favorite movies. Wish he had lived to see the 2nd. He would have loved it.
I loved it as well.
I doubt that he would ! --- The sequel will never-ever be as good as the original ! - I've seen it and I can't remember anything about it !
Listening to this trying to finish up a plan at work and thinking in-depth about where my life decisions have taken me...
Guys that didn't watch the movie weren't worthy of this masterpiece
love to close my eyes and just listen, LOVE both films.
I remember that when the movie ends i could't move from my seat.
It is pure masterpiece i every way... I was so glad that that movie isn't another
money-jump trash-sequel...
This movie really is as good, as it was beck then, when first part was released.
Thank you Denis Villeneuve, You are ony of my best director's ever.
And ofcourse music - omg - hard to describe these feelings:)
♥️
I love this music so much, it's really hauting me everywhere I go. It's also perfect for love.
i love this...transcendent, sublime
Awesome movie and fitting sequel to the original
Masterpiece pure and simple ✨ 💜
Incredible film. Wish I would have gone to see it in the theater.
Watched a pirated version since i live in the mountains.. A moon outside reminds me this world is an illusion...
I absolutely love this consolidated version so when I need my Blade Runner fix I can spare the 20 minutes and not cut thru the full version. It is a marvelous mix and thank you for providing this - it is just brilliant!
This is pure magic 👌 masterpiece , I can't describe in words , just wanna listen to this piece of unforgettable soundtrack by Hans zimmer again & again , Zimmer soundtrack is like addiction , I have become addict of it .
