    I purchased this from a local furniture store about 3 months ago and it works well as described. The delivery people set it up for me, and for an extra charge took away the old frame and box spring. I already had an older Tempurpedic mattress which works just fine with this base, so did not need to purchase a new mattress.

    I got a Serta frame from my Godnothers estate and bought a new Serta mattress. I hate it! Not sure if it is the mattress or the frame. Can not get comfortable. The slightest change from leaving it completely flat hurts my hips or shoulders. So sorry I ever changed.

    Do you have to buy a mattress that is adjustable or will any mattress work?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sabrina -- Thanks for your question. You definitely need to buy one that is compatible for use with an adjustable base. Otherwise, bending the mattress in this way could permanently damage the mattress and/or void the warranty.
      General adjustable base compatibility is binary (yes/no) and is determined by the manufacturer. But within the (fairly broad) universe of mattresses that are compatible, we have found a pretty wide array of differences in terms of just how well they function when on an adjustable base. For example, some mattresses are allowed to bend, but are really uncomfortable to sit on when the bed is elevated. For these reasons, we always make sure to rate several aspects of adjustable compatibility in each of our in-depth mattress reviews.
      So if adjustable base compatibility is an important issue for you, I'd definitely recommend looking at the mattresses that we've reviewed and watching or reading our assessments in this area before making your selection.
      I hope that's helpful.

    Thanks for the video. One question tho- what was the body jerk all about around the 7:40 mark?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ha - we sped up the video around that time so you didn't have to wait through the bed moving into position. 🙂 On any adjustable base with any mattress, as you elevate from a flat position to an upright position, you need to readjust your body slightly. In this case, that readjustment looks a bit like a "body jerk" only because the video is running at high speed.

    I just got my Serta motion essentials 3 delivered yesterday and I am just fuming. The delivery guys set it and the bed up in about 10 min and left. They could not have been in any more of a hurry, I didn't even get to ask any questions. I could not believe how high it was. It was not the base I seen in the store. In the store I could put my feet on the floor. This one is like climbing mount Everest. My dog also hurt his leg jumping off it. They also did not leave me a manual. I had to look on You Tube and seen your video that the legs were adjustable. I had no idea and was not given a choice when they set it up. My question is now that the bed is set up, is it possible to remove part of the legs? Or does it have to be disassembled and reassembled? Right now it is too heavy with the Tempur pedic mattress on top. I'm afraid once I move the mattress off myself I may not get it back on and frame would still be too heavy. All the videos on it only show the initial assembly of the legs out of the box. What would you recommend?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jen -- Thanks for your question, and I'm sorry to hear that your delivery guys weren't more proactive in asking you what height you wanted for the base. Fortunately, this should be a relatively easy fix, though you might need a hand with it. The legs for this base typically come in 3 sections. Each section is about 3 inches tall and can be unscrewed and removed from the section above it, allowing you to lower the total height of each leg by 3 inches. If that's still too tall, you can unscrew the bottom two sections of each leg, lowering the total height of the base by 6 inches.
      I hope that's helpful.

    So what are the different heights ( in inches ) that the base can be set at with it's adjustable legs ?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. The height shown in the video is the tallest possibility, and you can lower it in 2-3" increments from there (IIRC the legs consist of two 3" segments + one 2" segment that can be screwed together in any order or permutation). This base does have a zero clearance design, which means it can be used without legs at all, so that would be the lowest it can be (~8" lower than what is shown). Of course, most people would only remove the legs entirely if they were planning to put the base on a platform. I hope that's helpful.

    How can you open the remote control to change the battery?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I'm not sure which version of the remote you have. Some have a little door in the back, and you can use a thumbnail to press the lever and pop it open. On other versions, the whole back comes off, and you need to use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry it off.

      Hi Bernard -- Thanks for sharing your experience with this product thus far. I can't speak off-hand to all the warranty details of this particular base, however most adjustable bases have a warranty that completely covers all electrical and mechanical failures for some period of time. I would certainly think that 3 months would be within this period of time, so I would encourage you to be persistent in having this addressed. A good retailer will certainly help you facilitate this, but if they do not, then you can and should go directly to the manufacturer. I hope that helps.

    The fetal position is a must for great sleep. You can not find it if the base bends like that.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Thomas -- Thanks for your comment. I do agree that if the fetal position is your preferred sleeping position, you may not need / want an adjustable base. That said, keep in mind that you might still get use out of the elevation features when you're awake (eg, when reading or watching TV in bed), and a base like this has other appealing features as well (eg, massage, underbed lighting, etc.). I hope that's helpful.

    • @madisonstage
      @madisonstage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok. I got to the page. Thank you. Last question. I have a full-sized mattress inside a wooden frame that has drawers along the sides. I'm sure you know the kind. I heard you say that the adjustable bed can fit "INSIDE" an existing frame. I'm imagining that this product would require that the legs come completely off and then I guess it could at least sit ON TOP of the existing frame. I'm not sure the frame is so much larger than the adjustable bed that it would fit inside. Do you know if the legs can be taken off or just shortened. Thank you so much!!

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there -- On account of the drawers you described, it sounds like your wooden frame is a bit more complicated than most in terms of being able to use it with an adjustable base. That said, this particular base is a "zero clearance" design, which means it *can* be used without legs. So if your frame has a sturdy platform above the drawers that can support the added weight of the adjustable base, then yes you could put this frame directly onto that platform and then put your mattress on top of that. I hope that's helpful!

    what mattress is recommended for this base?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Melissa -- Thanks for your question. This base will work with any mattress that is compatible with an adjustable base (meaning that they're designed to flex in this way), no matter the brand. Not all mattresses are adjustable-base friendly, so be sure to confirm this before making a purchase. However these days, the majority of mattresses over $1,000 do meet this criteria. Latex mattresses tend to work very well, and all-foam and pocketed-coil mattresses also tend to be very compatible. I hope that helps.

    Would it work well with a memory foam mattress ?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi +kellblue99 -- Thanks for your question. This base will work well with any mattress that is adjustable base compatible, which would include most memory foam mattresses.
      To be a bit more specific, no mattresses are made entirely from memory foam, and adjustable base compatibility will generally depend on what's underneath the memory foam in the support layer. If it's more foam (meaning, no springs) or pocket coils (a specific type of springs), then the mattress is almost certainly compatible with an adjustable base. Otherwise, it may not be.
      I hope that helps.

      Hi Colleen. That sounds very annoying! The only suggestion I might have is to make sure the fitted sheet has deep pockets-- then tuck your top sheet under and tuck the ends INSIDE the fitted sheet. Here's a little explainer: amerisleep.com/blog/how-to-keep-sheets-on-an-adjustable-bed/

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Thomas -- Thanks for your comment, and sorry we missed this earlier. The mattress used in this video is a queen size mattress, which as a 6'0" person is what I sleep on normally with no problem. What you are observing in terms of my feet hanging off the end is partly a result of the mattress being bent so severely on the adjustable base (which we did for demonstration purposes), and partly a result of my deliberate efforts to keep my shoes from touching the mattress. The bottom line is that the adjustable base shown in this video is certainly not at fault for what you were observing.
      I hope that is helpful.

  • @david61accord
    @david61accord 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    That adjustable base is doing absolutely nothing for your feet. No movement. Good god in heaven.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi David -- Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure what you mean though. Are you saying this because the foot of the mattress remained straight rather than conforming to the base? If so, that is actually a characteristic of the mattress, not the base. New mattresses like the one used in this video often take a little while to start conforming to the base. But in either case, it has nothing to do with the base. FWIW, the foot of this base bends similarly to the vast majority of adjustable bases we've tested.
      I hope that's helpful.
