Love the chrome lightsaber pieces, that one is in great state! Mine the chrome slowly rubbed off from playing, now it's some weird skin toned yellowish tint to it.
This was literally the firs lego set I've ever had, and the only lego set I had during my whole childhood (That was the time when LEGO as not available in my country). I did not even know what those four letters on every stud stand for. It was not until many, many years later, from a magazine, did I realise that what 'LEGO' means. And it took me years and years in search for another copy. Finally at the end of last year, I managed to have another copy of this set quietly sitting on my shelf. This set is super nostalgic and means a great deal to me and my life. Thank you Jang.
4:52 The photography for the front of the instruction booklet is wonderful! So atmospheric! I remember being mesmerized as a kid by all the photography for this first wave of sets.
This set still holds up in my eyes. They nailed the shaping of the snow speeder. Some of the other early Star Wars sets look dated, but this one is very well done.
Ah, that takes me back! I used to have this set, the very first Snowspeeder! They used the canopy for various sets yes, like the X-Wing and the Y-Wing, which I also had back in the day, very cool!
I love how far LEGO characters' design has come in less than 20 years, and of course the whole sets as well. Nice work, Jang. Keep up the cool content!
My 3rd Star Wars Lego set and I still have it complete. Hard to believe it has been about 18 years since I bought this. Wish I got more sets from back in the day like the Interceptor.
One of my 1st Lego Star Wars sets. Still think this is the best snowspeeder so far, maybe because of the nostalgia, but this one looks the most badass :D
This is the most important LEGO in my collection. I got it when I was in hospital, when I was first diagnosed with Diabetes in the April of '99. My mum got it me as a get well soon present!!! Still got it on my window sill now, 18 years later!!!
I still like it, it was when lego still had that lego look to it, now some of the models practically look like miniature models. But i think lego gets better and better, It may be expensive but it is probably the highest quality toy available, there quality control is amazing. unlike the other brands out there, even high quality ones like mega-blocks are still below in quality of the bricks itself. i have herd that the brand best-lock is feirly good for a discount brand and even made official terminator and stargate sets.
this is awsome,I love how u bring in sets from long ago and do reviews on them , I think it's good because we can compare them to newer versions keep up the good work
Old sets are cool even if they're ugly, only because they're old :p Like 1st gen of Slave 1. Compared to the third gen of UCS, the oldest one is 30 cms smaller and looks so primitive xD
another thing you can do too with that center insert is put in an R2 unit (doesn't have to be R2D2 obviously, could be any droid of that model) sans the legs. I know canonically the Snowspeeders didn't have Astromechs, but I always liked having R2 ride along with Luke in mine.
Nice review, sir. This is the first LEGO SW set I ever owned and I still have it. I have always liked this design and the color scheme too. Lots of old grey!
I think that this set is by far the best of the early star wars lego sets just because of how well it stands up even by todays standards. Setting this next to the most current snowspeeder just shows that. Imo the figs are the only thing that properly date this set
This is still a very solid set to me. Partscount isn't too high, nothing crazy complex, but excellent rendition of the iconic sourcematerial. Nice clean prints, some of them abstract enough for other usage. Great colourscheme using my beloved old dark-gray. Everything about it communicates the industrial and dirty no nonsense design, this practicality is mirrored in the neatly integrated playfeatures such as opening cockpits, rotating arms, tucked away storage capacity. Even the ridiculous catapult got me a good laugh.Just all in all great stuff. They only thing i'd change was putting a second 2x2 plate on top of the turret's turntable so it could rotate freely.
I think the generic trooper guy and the gun may actually be Han Solo and a communications device. The box art is similar to the scene in the film where the speeders make their first appearance and find Solo after the snow storm. At least thats what I imagined when I played with the set as a kid. I think that is why the trooper got the special face and the hair possibly.
great video Jang. I love how much more succinct you've been lately but I do miss the occasional laugh session when you mess around with the sets and question a play feature or similar.
I always thought the first one was a catapult, there are clearly hinges in that front section that I think suggests that. It still really doesn't make much practical sense, though.
This Snowspeeder is one of my favorite Lego sets I personally own and I also found out per the stipulation of memorizing something specific in exchange for permission to buy it that I could memorize roughly 1,200 words in a weekend. As an aside. The lower alternate was shown step by step in the 1999 July/August Lego Mania magazine pg. 10. it's called the Snow Walker. Sorry Jang, it's not a gunship. It kinda looks like a bug to me.
You can say what ever you want. But the old Sets had some Kind of Soul. And about 2008/2009 The Lego Star Wars Sets lost their Soul. Not all. But most of them.
Despite being 18 years old, this set looks great! Of course the new snow speeders are better, but out of all the old SW ships from Lego, this might be the best looking...
That first alternate build is clearly a catapult to launch Dak at an AT-AT so that he can punch it to death. Clearly.
Ah, yes, the AT-AT.
Also known as OH NO IT'S THE GIANT ROBOT CAMEL
First set i ever got. 4 years old. Thanks grandma
This is one of the first lego sets I was ever given as a little boy. I loved it.
NickonAquaMagna Same here! good memories.
Way too much nostalgia!
It was the First LEGO Star Wars Set Actually :D
there's something special about the simpler more "toyish" early lego sets compared to the new ones. they have a nice scale to them
5:00 Man-cannon/catapult?
JANGBRiCKS that looks like it. Haha why would they do that?
JANGBRiCKS hi did you see the lego batman movie
JANGBRiCKS Maybe they just wanted to be as cool as Ewoks.
probably
JANGBRiCKS Yea.
For a Lego set designed in 1999 pretty great detail and the first alternate set is a catapult I think
Honestly this is one my favorite Star Wars Lego sets.
This is really good for the time it was made!
I still think this one is better than the new ones.
And I always will see that second build as FLY!
This build is appauling
Lordodragonss Sure it's a classic, but design wise the newer ones are way more accurate. Can't deny the charm of this one, however.
Classic LEGO toy look.. and so playable. Perfect to fly around.. i loved this model!
Love the chrome lightsaber pieces, that one is in great state!
Mine the chrome slowly rubbed off from playing, now it's some weird skin toned yellowish tint to it.
Do they not make them anymore?
This was literally the firs lego set I've ever had, and the only lego set I had during my whole childhood (That was the time when LEGO as not available in my country). I love seeing these older sets from my younger years. Takes me back!
4:52 The photography for the front of the instruction booklet is wonderful! So atmospheric! I remember being mesmerized as a kid by all the photography for this first wave of sets.
I remember getting one of these back when I was a kid
This set still holds up in my eyes. They nailed the shaping of the snow speeder. Some of the other early Star Wars sets look dated, but this one is very well done.
Just picked this set in box, can't wait to build it. So cool
Ah, that takes me back! I used to have this set, the very first Snowspeeder! They used the canopy for various sets yes, like the X-Wing and the Y-Wing, which I also had back in the day, very cool!
I love the original LEGO Star Wars sets
I wasn't even alive when this came out but I love it
Kobi Robertson same
I remember building this when I was 12, such a fun set at the time.
I've always loved this set. Lots of really great prints. I have it with all the rest of my T-47's
I had this one! Wow, I wish I still had all my old Lego sets. Love these nostalgic vids
One of my favorite sets from the original line up. Takes me back to the First Rogue Squadron on the N64.
I love how far LEGO characters' design has come in less than 20 years, and of course the whole sets as well.
Nice work, Jang. Keep up the cool content!
miabua73 still a major lack of canopy pieces
Coloring was really nice for the time.
I used to drool over these as a kid, all my LEGO sets ever up until yesterday had been imperials tho.
those dish turrets really pack a punch in battlefront, if you an nail the cooldowns
Perfect name, launch your men at the enemy, what could go wrong?
Still have this on the desk in my study back home. Despite it's simplicity, very swooshable.
My 3rd Star Wars Lego set and I still have it complete. Hard to believe it has been about 18 years since I bought this. Wish I got more sets from back in the day like the Interceptor.
Oh that canopy...I firmly believe that thing is never going away.
The alternate build on he upper right is inspired by the catapult from "Men In Tights"
Jang can you make an x wing or millennium falcon comparison video?
YES
I think he did a Millennium Falcon one.
It's a Minifig-Launcher!
I adore these old Star Wars reviews Jang! Just what I need after a hard days work 😁
1:55 help! General greebling is attacking!
I love your videos! You got me into loving/building Legos again.
Oh I *loved* this set back when I was a child!!! I still think it's awesome :)
Had this one as a kid in 99 wow super cool!
I had this one. They reused an Aquasharks head for that rebel trooper. And those were my first (and probably only) orange bricks.

The hoth troopers gun is just the standard rebel blaster it is a longer gun in movies compared to stormtroopers blaster (the megaphone one)
1 of my favorite of all times
this is awsome,I love how u bring in sets from long ago and do reviews on them , I think it's good because we can compare them to newer versions keep up the good work
In my opinion this looks the best out of all of them
I used to have this set, and I loved it. When moving, I lost track of it, and now do not know what happened to it.
Old sets are cool even if they're ugly, only because they're old :p
Like 1st gen of Slave 1. Compared to the third gen of UCS, the oldest one is 30 cms smaller and looks so primitive xD

This is my favourite lego Star Wars snow speeder set and I wish I had this set!!
Nice review, sir. This is the first LEGO SW set I ever owned and I still have it. I have always liked this design and the color scheme too. Lots of old grey!
This is the best version they ever made.
Even the UCS one?

Imo the figs are the only thing that properly date this set
My first ever Lego Star Wars set. Got this before I even saw Star Wars.
1:57 Flying the snowspeeder in the original Battlefronts, these actually work like ailerons and elevons.
I had two of these when i was growing up
i always wanted that set as a kid XD i think i may start looking for thes old sets
Change the color from grey to white, and this is gray for me! I feel like unlike other older sets, this one, (other than the color) stands well today
I have one. Very sturdy and fun ship.
I totally had this set as a kid. :D Great stuff!
this was my first lego set as a child lol
Alternative build one looks like a minifig catapult to me, look at the location of the small hinge piece.
this was my very first lego star wars set :-)
Yes, plz keep up the old SW set reviews!
Hey Jang, lego did actually have a licensed theme before. it was with Shell and they did make brickbuilt sets and also some HO-scaled vehicles.
I have one, still in the box Jang, always love you work,
This set still holds up by today's standards and still looks pretty accurate from the one in the
Movie
im late but no it doesnt really hold up. its better than the others from that time i guess tho
your joking right? no ok
The first one is a catapult, I guess! :D
Yeah, I realized that after looking at it closer.
Yup it is !!!
the first alternative build is a catapult for Luke #XD
This is still a very solid set to me. Partscount isn't too high, nothing crazy complex, but excellent rendition of the iconic sourcematerial. Nice clean prints, some of them abstract enough for other usage. Great colourscheme using my beloved old dark-gray. They only thing i'd change was putting a second 2x2 plate on top of the turret's turntable so it could rotate freely.
Big soft spot for this set. I think considering the time it came out it still looks terrific.
Oh how far they've come
Holy crap, I have one of these in a box in a dark corner of the shed somewhere. Random to see a video about it floating through my recommended.
Not bad for the first year of star wars
great video Jang. I love how much more succinct you've been lately but I do miss the occasional laugh session when you mess around with the sets and question a play feature or similar.
That first alt-build was a catapult. Strange, I know.
I've got this bad boy, and the OG Xwing from sodas swamp set
Really nice set!
Wow I still think that looks just as good as the new ones
i love star wars sets
Good video
I always thought the first one was a catapult, there are clearly hinges in that front section that I think suggests that. It still really doesn't make much practical sense, though.

I think that the alternate build that you didn’t understand is a catapult.
Dak did say he felt like he could take on the whole Empire himself so the first alternate build is a catapult built out of impulsive revenge.
I love you Jang!!!!!!!!!!!! You are one of my favourite youtubers!!!!!! I made a top 15 LEGO youtubers video, and you were in it!!!!!!
I just got this set today
That "generic rebel trooper" head piece seems so familiar.. Oh right! Pepper Roni from the LEGO Island games!
a-wing b-wing c-wing d-wing e-wing f-wing g-wing h-wing i-wing j-wing k-wing l-wing m-wing n-wing o-wing p-wing q-wing r-wing x-wing c-wing u-wing v-wing (alrghty thats all the wings)
PUMPKIN ORE Ü-wing
You can say what ever you want.
But the old Sets had some Kind of Soul.
And about 2008/2009 The Lego Star Wars Sets lost their Soul.
Not all. But most of them.
Oooo super cool! I had this as a kid :D Still somewhere between all my other lego lol
Love your videos! I still have a lot of the 1999 sets.
I almost just want those slopes with the walkers printed on them. A lot of things I can think of to do with those.
had this as a kid :'(
Daniel Apro what happened to it?
Very swooshable 😃👍
Despite being 18 years old, this set looks great! Of course the new snow speeders are better, but out of all the old SW ships from Lego, this might be the best looking...
Ahh i got the Speeder but with my childhood brain i took it apart D,:
