Shame only the 1st half of this game was kept. Also video technology didn't exist yet. I had 2 attend a family function & totally missed this event broadcasted on KTVU. Think it was live as well!
What I find hard to understand is why in the world would Tony Roman be sent back to do the blocking. One of your SMALLEST men, you've supposedly got two studs in O'Connell and Boyd, but they send Roman back to do the blocking.
Sometimes you just get caught in a bad position. As was Roman in this situation. As you will note before the opposing Jammer scored past Roman, he was sparring with Ronnie Robinson @ the time & just caught in a bad spot. Not in time to let Boyd, O'Connell, Orosco, or even Cook to take over the blocking chores. Must say though for a small skater, Tony Roman is very powerful for a little guy. If Tony Roman had to he can handle the defensive duties without a problem. Though a waste especially if he's not a blocker @ the time & instead a Jammer.
I remember when bay bombers guy who was hit over and over again on his head with a hammer by another team and was carried out by his team members. Was always wonder if he was okay and return to the team? Anyone remember this year ago?
The only thing that was important was that people actually believed this ACT! Wrestling on roller skates, PHONY as a 14 dollar bill. BUT, entertaining!!
