I think it would say a lot about the actual size of the gaps between conferences if a team that played five ACC teams, two AAC teams, two MAC teams, and only two Big 10 teams and one SEC team wins the national championship, especially since their one loss was to one of the MAC teams and their biggest margin of victory was against a Big 10 team.
Doesn't matter if ND wins for they get the same blueblood favoritism that the conference bluebloods gets, sometimes more so due to their LARGE fanbase. Unlike in recent yrs, ND has earned their spot this year, they're the real deal this yea. Whether or not its enough to beat an overloaded OH team will be seen tonite in ATL
ND can help the Big 12 by joining them, the ACC and G6 in forming their own playoff and National Champion. Let BIG SEC do their own and give each other 4 teams each in an team playoff. They just have to understand if they want to play for a unified title it will be an even split of revenue. The Alliance could also have an 8 team playoff. ACC and Big 2 champ get a spot. Winner of PAC-12- MWC "Bi-Conference" Championship gets a spot. Highest rated conference champ from the other 4 G6 gets a spot, and the rest go to highest ranked teams regardless. The top seeds are not reserved for anyone. If ND is top ranked they get top seed.
@@haroldflashman4687 2011 but yall held Oklahoma State out for a repeat of the field goal bowl.... LSU wasn't going to be able to stop that offense so they made sure they played one they could keep up with.
For you to say that the SEC's dominance wasn't around in the 90's and only started with Nick Saban at Alabama is just silly. In the 90's alone, Bama won in 93, Florida won in 96, and TN won in 98. And LSU has won THREE times in the 2000's (two of those 3 before Saban got to Bama) and they aren't even considered the tip top of the SEC (as in they aren't in Bama/Georgia territory).
You're leaving out very key details like Nebraska slaughtering those same teams whenever they did have the unfortunate opportunity of having to play them. Florida got absolutely destroyed the year before they won their national title by Nebraska, and who knows, they may not have won that title had Texas not upset Nebraska and knocked them out of the race. Tennessee also got demolished by Nebraska in Peyton Manning's last game. Nebraska, and Florida State, were the real powers of the 1990s, not the SEC or anyone in the SEC. So no the SEC dominance was not a thing until the 2000s starting with Florida. Because while LSU won a title in 2003, USC was still the dominant program at that time and would be for the next couple of years.
@chuckroutionGB2022 I'm not talking about right now. I'm responding to the original comment about the history of the SEC's dominance. @@joe_zeay By the way, take a very good look to what has transpired with The SEC this season. They were pretty much riding on the coattails of Nick Saban and Alabama for many many years and how did that turn out for them?
This realignment appears to have changed ND from the most loved or hated program to the preferred winner by most fans.
Yeah, all of that "preferred" interest really helped ND in the actual game didn't it?
