this may be a silly question , but since we've never gone anywhere out the country and this will be our first time going just wanted to ask how do you pay for things ? you have to convert the money , do you do it at the airport ? im still confused on that bit. and talking about airports, when you say "just keep walking" past all the people trying to assist you, how will I know Im being assisted by the right people for the shuttle ? 😅 sorry for all the questions!
Hello! In terms of paying, we pay for our stay at the resort on our visa when we arrive. We take American currency in a variety of denominations for tipping ($1s, $5s, and $10s.) We tip the transfer drivers, service staff, and anyone else we find to be helpful! We’ve also always used our visa for any airport purchases. In terms of “walk right through,” I am referencing inside the airport. The final hallway on your way outside is full of people you can avoid. Once you get outside, and that heat and humidity smacks you in the face, then you start your search for your prearranged transfer driver. Typically, they will have let you know where to look for them and details like what color shirt they will be wearing. Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll do my best to help! Have fun!
We are going in Sept for our honeymoon and it will be our second visit. We booked the cheapest room because your exactly right, they try and offer you an upgraded room when you arrive so that's what we are going to do! Best resort I've been to!
We are going to VIM October, curious about what the up grade cost was. It’s an extra $500 pp online so curious what they offer at resort for golden area?
Hello! Each time, we have upgraded from a "regular" room to a Golden Junior Suite. I do not remember how much the upgrade was, but I KNOW it wasn't $500 pp. Honestly, I think the upgrade costs less if you do it at check in, likely because of the ability to negotiate. HOWEVER, booking an upgrade prior to arriving guarantees the room you want. You always take the risk of not getting that room if you wait to see what kind of deal they offer at check in. Whatever room you end up in, I promise you'll love it!
Hello fellow Nebraskan! My husband and I are thinking about this resort for June 2023. How was the sargassum while you were there? That’s the only thing keeping me from committing to this resort.
Hello! We have had no problems with sea weed any of the three times we’ve been there. I do know they work very hard to keep the beach clean! I ALWAYS recommend going to VIM!
great video. 5 years ago we noticed a quiet and loud side of the big pool but heard the entire big pool is noisy and only golden pool is quiet. help? food trucks always there?
In our experience, there is still a "quiet" side of the big pool. Obviously, it isn't as quiet as the golden pool. All activities are on the loud side of the pool, which contributes to the noise. I think the "quiet" side would be a good compromise for some groups, especially considering it's closer to the ocean. Food trucks are available from 12:00 to 4:00. We're excited to try them in June!
Thx great info. My wife and I went two years ago to a standard silver room overlooking the pool… We’re going to the end of June this year for five nights in an emerald… I do realize it’s a ways off the ocean but asked for an upper floor for a better view anyway. Hoping you go Earlier in June so that I can get some additional tips! Thanks
So this "chair saving" practice is a bit controversial. Basically, I get up early and place a variety of objects on the number of chairs we'll be needing. I use towels, my beach bag, a book, etc. Technically, every resort I've been to has a rule against this, but since everyone still does it, you either play along or don't get a great spot to lounge.
Thanks for the comment! Do you find the golden pool to be as quiet as I've heard it is? My husband would love to spend more time at the beach, but I'm way more of a pool girl! 😀 I've heard the golden pool menu is delicious! Any plans to return to VIM?
Thank you for the video. I read on the VIR website that women could not wear open toe shoes to dinner, is this the case? I am not talking about flip flops, but a sandal with a heel.
I have worn open toed shoes literally every dinner we've been to! Again, like you said, not flip flops, but definitely open toed. Honestly, I haven't seen really any women turned away for "dress code violations." With men, however, they are much stricter. My husband, and the men we've traveled with, have always word closed toed shoes, shirts with a collar, and slacks.
@@lindapooleon3018 You're welcome! Regarding floaties, in the past they have always provided quite a few blue mats for floating. They had always served us well. However, I have heard they got rid of these as part of their COVID response, and the floaties have not returned. We will be taking one just in case!
@@harrisfamilyadventures__ thank you all your help with my questions. Another one how much do you tip the bar tender and the wait staff? Do you tip in American or Peso's? Did you bring Peso's with you? Again thank you
@@lindapooleon3018 Hello! Glad I can help. We have always taken American currency to Mexico to tip with and have had no problems. I know some people have said they take pesos, but American currency seems to work just fine. Typically, we tip $1/drink. Often for breakfast and lunch, we will tip $5, and then $10 for dinner. We go with others as well, so the table total for these meals will end up being a higher tip for staff.
Heather, just wanted to add if you have any questions about homeschooling my daughter homeschools her four children and my daughter-in-law her five children so they have a lot of experience… The kids are very social, very bright, prolific and avid readers and have critical thinking skills far beyond their their age… Just reach out with A reply if you would like her contact information she would be more than happy to share anything or answer any questions.

Glad to be helpful! If you have any questions, I’d be happy to try and answer them!
We loved the golden pool. They are great about walking up and down it taking drink and food orders
We didn’t try the food, but found the drink service to be great! I’m working on editing those videos today!

We stayed over golden pool and mostly hung out there or the beach. They have a great snack place there too
