Finally a review telling the truth... so many YT producer channels are always telling lies about why you should not use omnisphere despite the fact that it is the top tier of synths. Omnisphere is literally the synth of all synths... thats for sure. Great review.
Most channels that criticize Omnisphere don’t fully understand it. It is overwhelming. If you were looking though presets there are so many that I can see someone being put off by all the cinematic sounds. The sonic extensions are like buying another synth. I have the Seismic Shock one, and it is huge sounding.
I think they make those vids hating on omnisphere just to be different and to get more views. People that say xpand is better than omnisphere are crazy I immediately dislike the vid and just stop watching it
A little late to react, but it's nice to see another happy Omnisphere user. I am a long time user of Omnisphere (I bought it when it not even was version 2), and I still use it on a almost daily base. So far I have 3 synths from Spectrasonics: Omnisphere 2.8, Trilian and StylusRMX. And those are the most used synths in my stable. The only other soft synth I use very much besides the Spectrasonic ones, is HALion 6. That's a beast on it's own. I was dubbing between Falcon and HALion, but the last one clearly suits my needs by a large margin (I still have some eyes on U-he Zebra though). I certainly going to buy more stuff from Spectrasonics in the near future. If that will be one or more of those Sonic Extensions, of Keyscape depends a bit on my needs. I will probably buy both in the long therm, but it's a difficult choice witch one will be first. Anyway - Are you still a happy user after two months of use? I really hope so...
Def, after a couple months it’s my favorite software synth to date! The Sonic Extensions are really useful and fun. Always something just right for a project in one of them. Followed by Serum, and then the Arturia V9 Collection since the Sale through NI shrsl.com/3vq7e - been using a lot of the JUN -6V synth modeled after the Juno-6. Love the arps of the 6V. Lots of great software. New sounds to explore. Always a joy to use.
I ordered Omnisphere today and it arrives on Friday. I primarily use Falcon 2 and Equator 2, but I think this will quickly become a go to source for sound creation.
Awesome! Also take a look at the Sonic Extensions. Just started digging into them today and wow.. Def takes Omnisphere to another level. I pretty much use Omnisphere, Serum, and Arcade for the majority of my sound generation now.
The thing is that Omnisphere is a real pro studio tool, in use all over the world by the big artist names and production houses. And of course it’s priced accordingly for that market. I differentiate this from the “plugin kids” market of hobbyist toys with flashy user interfaces, but lacking in the fundamentals we need in studio use.
I also own Omnisphere and this synth is just bomb. The only criticism I have is that it feels so heavy. of course everything runs super fast and cool. nevertheless, he likes to radiate the feeling of heaviness for me because he can do everything 😂👍
@@WaveBits Oh yes. I had already watched the demo videos for it. very convincing. but the price of €150 is also convincing. there are so many good toys for this amount that can do something. as always, it remains difficult in the VST world 😄
There are many great synths out there, but there is only one Omnisphere. It's seems like a steep price, but considering the power and endless possibilities, it's actually quite a steal. I recently took the plunge myself and I'm blown away. Worth every penny. 😁
If you like Omnisphere you should check out one of the old PCM synths. Eric Persing made tons of patches for everything from the D-50 -> JD-800 -> JD-990 -> JV-1080 -> JV-2080 -> XV-5080. The D-50 had two waveforms per patch, but everything after that was 4-layer. They all have a lot of similarities. The XV-5080 is 32-part multitimbral with two LFOs and multiple envelopes per layer, and 3 global FX sends + chorus/reverb... so that's about 132 LFOs at once. The funny thing is that Roland never had an arpeggiator even on the Integra 7. It's cool that they added one to Omnisphere. And all the E-Mu rack synths are like being in a different world where Eric Persing was replaced by Depeche Mode and a bunch of nerds making patches for the Emulator II on floppy disks, and it evolved into rack synths with a market split between hip-hop producers and UK movie/TV/video game music producers. There's no version of Omisphere for that world, though. Just really bad sample libraries trying to play the patches with no modulation.
omnisphere is old, outdated... and it STILL surprises me every time i use it. i.e. all these edm patches I've never liked but you made some of these presets sound good
What a marvelous creation such a deep and rich sound, limitless, expansive and multidimensional. Few instruments I know have achieved this kind of depth and mastery of sound. Coming from hardware I couldn’t believe the price of omnisphere and all that it offers. I mean if you paid for a product by the hours put into it, it might be the most expensive instrument of all time. I know software is easily duplicated but for anybody wondering if it’s worth it, without question it is. I would have paid $1,000 for it.

Will start to catch this video on your channel, but a little disappointed. I didn’t see a lot more Contant on ominsphere after you said it was gonna be a main stay on your channel.
Omnisphere is still my favorite sound generator overall, but there's this unexplainable experience I have with it... it's the breadth and depth of options functionally and preset-wise that make it a task to incorporate when I'm inspired in the moment and riffing on the spot. I find it hard to nail down and get the upper hand with it. I find I'm using Teletone Audio plugins a lot more lately. I like that each of their instruments really focuses on the most inspiring set of 50-70 presets per instrument, making it feel more graspable and inspiring in the moment. Hope that makes sense!
I have both and I’d prob pick Omnisphere still. Maschine is long overdue for an update - you can’t even record direct-to-timeline with audio in Maschine, it only has step automation, no vector/curves. Very outdated.
That looks like a solid state drive. Not the best option for longterm storage. I'd suggest copying all 65 gigs to a spindle drive. Also, is your Macbook Pro an M1 or M2 model?
@@vaiman7777 I mean, if you no longer value your data after about two or three years, by all means. SSDs depend on electrical charges to keep their data intact, and they lose it gradually over time. SSDs are terrible for longterm storage. Ever plug an old flash drive into your computer and it fails to recognize it, and you knew for a fact you had data on it? Basically the same thing.

For the life of me I don't know why people sleep on omnisphere! This is the only vst I use, since I found out what this thing can really do... You literally get lost in this thing!
At that price point... i recommend anyone to rather buy an NI MAScHINE MK3.

SSD is fine, especially for library data. Reads only. I’ve 6x 3TB ones.

I mean, if you no longer value your data after about two or three years, by all means. SSDs depend on electrical charges to keep their data intact, and they lose it gradually over time. SSDs are terrible for longterm storage.
Ever plug an old flash drive into your computer and it fails to recognize it, and you knew for a fact you had data on it? Basically the same thing.
@@Flashback_Jack Nonsense, I work with SANs all day. And you realise library data is easily replaced in a DR situation?
