@@bennyandthejets4290P$A 100 percent practices pop control. Look at 93 SP jeter vs chipper. Same foil, same colors, one sequential number apart…. Chipper gems factors more often than the jeter. It’s pop control. There is no other explanation.
I am a collector from the 80s and never went anywhere without my Beckett price guide. I am collecting with you the Jordan Star cards but also the 86 Fleer auto set and the 56 Topps baseball set. I have everything in Beckett slabs! Absolutely nostalgic for me! Great news and video! Thank you for the update!
Beckett did a lot to mainstream and standardize the hobby beginning in 1978, so it would be too bad if they did file for Bankruptcy. The hobby, or at least the manufacturing of cards has always been though a small, select group of individuals who knew each other and have the resources to print a nationally issued set. The printing of cards today is so small that I believe only one or two companies are contracted to do it. Business-wise, that could create issues for any company looking to get into the card game. I would also like to see an updated paper-issued Beckett Monthly. If it's solely on the internet, articles, pages, documents and sites can and do disappear. Unfortunately there is no one go-to hobby source for information or hobby history which could be useful for future generations.
All content creators in the hobby are obsessed with talking about him. I do have a theory on why that is aside from what many would say is the obvious.
PSA hired thousands during the COVID-19 overnight when the stopped taking orders, they got them from public schools they didn't get to finish school, that's why only Nate Turner gets 10's they can't count that high only his personal grader wink wink gives out 10s to him
The grading space will be really interesting in the next 5-10 years. I’d love to see BGS return to at least a solid #2 option for High end cards. They still pretty much are that imo now, but there’s a negative perception of the brand they need to reverse. PSA vs AI too will be an interesting battle. I’d love to see BGS merge with Tag /Arena club.
Everyone’s got an opinion on grading companies - I’m no different. I strictly use SGC. Best looking slabs in my opinion, $15 a card, fair grades, and most importantly - last submission I got back in 11 days. Long term staying power as well, being owned by the same parent company as PSA. Until PSA can get their prices down to $12-$15, and get cards returned faster, I’m just not interested. PSA has never been able to successfully scale their company with the increased demand, which I believe stems from poor leadership. FCS out of Southlake, TX is a much better sub grade option to BGS. I’ve had them grade a lot of my PC stuff.
I personally like the look of SGC the best and Beckett probably 2nd. Don’t like PSA very much on several levels…….why does the majority think they’re the best?
@ because the card market is saturated now with flippers and “influencers” that have put out a ridiculous narrative that PSA commands the best ROI, which is technically true, thanks to their efforts. Their flocks have bought into this, and this flawed logic has infiltrated the entire market. I’m a collector since the late 70’s, and pay them no attention. I only grade my big cards with SGC to establish a defined value - will be easier for my kids to sell them when I’m gone. I could write a 1000 word essay on why PSA is a company I’ll never use, but I’ll save it. 😊
In my opinion, BGS has the best slabs, and I enjoy the sub grades to not get a head scratcher. Some of the most important cards in the hobby reside in their holders. If they are healthy, it’s a good thing. PSA and SGC have their pros and cons as well.
We’re supposed to be hopeful Beckett re-upped a long term contract for Steve Grad? The guy from Pawn Stars who lied about his backstory, authenticated numerous items that were proven fake and had lawsuits against him?

A strong Beckett is good for the hobby
I’ve always thought Beckett had the best slabs! PSA under grades everything.
PSA is protecting their pop reports and it's a joke. Totally unprofessional.

I'm from Texas and send all grading to Beckett. Have 3 grading orders in and 1 authentication order returning soon ! Good Info !!

Best slabs are by Beckett!
Congrats!
Made it through an entire video without mentioning Geoff Wilson!
lol
All content creators in the hobby are obsessed with talking about him. I do have a theory on why that is aside from what many would say is the obvious.
Bgs is still my fav grader. Psa is absolutely trash I don't care what anyone says
Feels like a move to make the company more attractive for a potential sale
Grading companies don’t wanna hire new graders. Then they have to train all new people on how to give preferential treatment to certain customers😉

4:23 Larry Bird cracked ice
lol 😂
Everyone is freaking out that Beckett slabs are junk now.. psst sell them to me for cheap then. I don't mind them at all. Buy the card not the slab.
I chase BGS slabs all the time. Most 8.5’s convert to PSA 9
Damn! That sucks about your slabs! I always feel like I’m going to leave something on top of my truck
Beckett is very important to the hobby!
With the cost of some of this new product the cards shouldn’t even leave the factory unless they’re a confirmed 10 and protected.
1000%

agreed, it will be interesting to see how it plays out

@amyjohnson5174 well said
I always send my best cards to Beckett sent some to Rare Edition too

Mike Judge approves of this sweater ;)
lol 😆 you know it!
Long term until someone buys them and dumps them.
Then they'll go to Fanatics I bet.
This doesn't change anything, we need needle mover changes!
Grading is different to authentication this about there auto authentication for signed items nothing to do about grading.
We’re supposed to be hopeful Beckett re-upped a long term contract for Steve Grad? The guy from Pawn Stars who lied about his backstory, authenticated numerous items that were proven fake and had lawsuits against him?
Happy New Year to you! We’ve all had some sort of that horror!
happy new year Krish!
Still sending cards to BGS idgaf
Beckett fan and SGC fan PSA is garbage
What’s up SCD
Whats up man!?!?
The ultimate pump and dump. Hawk Tuah anybody.
