Hello ! My first thought was to let it as is it but when I add the oil I see that the colour have not the contrast that I imagine so to use the fire was nessesary for me !! Thanks a lot for your comment !!!
I not only enjoyed the creation of this beautiful vase - I love the lines, and even the rot adds real character - but also the filming. Check out what looks like some interesting special effects as you are working. It almost seems as if you can see through the piece as you are working, like a window into your handiwork. I can't think of one of your pieces I like better than this. Of course I love olive wood the best, but this was an amazing creation. Oh yeah, I love making my own tools as well. The picture I sent you showed the insert I made when I couldn't find the small piece that completed the broken rim. In my case, it made the turning better and more special for the person who received it as a gift. Besides, it was a great use of pink ivory to give contrast to the quilted maple. I hope you try this sometime. The possibilities are endless.
