At 1:13:55 his statement really meant a lot to me. When I stopped racing I felt like I lost my identity. Racing is WHAT I WAS. But it really wasn't. The bike was my escape and my solace growing up. And it still is / can be. I just needed to re-embrace that facet of it.
🔝🚵♀ Top-notch content! This video embodies the spirit of cycling, and we're proud to add the Outskirts series to our collection. Looking forward to more! 💫
Nice piece of life. Thank you Sami for sharing your bitter “side” story. So honest. It tells a lot of you. ... I am astonished by all the hateful comments. Everybody seems so obsessed with Perfection and competition (in riding, in filming, in storytelling). Thank you all for sharing your trip in those remote lands, meeting those nice people. And for sharing your current perspective on life. This make it more intimate and interesting for me. Happy new year to everyone.
Awesome film with some great perspectives. Selfishly, I enjoyed seeing a remote part of my own country that we rarely think about. It’s a nice reminder to get outside and slow down.
I really enjoyed this one. The riding scenes were terrific, the camping and extreme bug-netting were surely honest to the real experience. The roadside stories were really interesting and came off genuine - i especially loved the guy who built his own guitar. Regarding the crap talking about Sami's injury ... i can only imagine what riding with three seasoned pro riders would be like, but it surely wouldn't be easy. Good on her for taking on the challenge and making the most of it.
Outskirts team, this video was great and cycling's online community needs more work like this. Great job everyone and thank you for this content. Showing all sides of touring is important and with that comes all the small bits of drama shown here. Can't wait for the next one. Sami you are a legend and big inspiration to female cycling. Cheers thanks to sponsors for making this happen
Crazy film, love it. Is not about get to the end is to enjoy all the thins that happens during the ride, people you meet, downs that happens, shit food or a simple cup of coffee; are memories that will never leave you head. Looking foward to do something like that some day.
absolutely loved it. really makes me want to get on my bike and explore. beautifully shot and well put together. thanks for sharing your stories and those of the people you came across
Love all these films. Just something about them. I do get a bit frustrated with all the “oh I’m so laid back about cycling” thing. No di2 charger on a trip like this? I’d probably call BS on that. Anyway, really enjoyed this and thanks for showing the extreme Canada. Hope there is more to come in the future.
I dig it, fun to watch- gets you thinking about riding your own way- there is no one right way to ride a bike or make a film- these always inspire me to ride my bike, take more pictures, shoot more video - but that is just me. cheers, Steve aka The Talking Fly.
Some harsh comments on here,Sami produced it and was more than just a rider. She didn't plan the knee pain and things happen.Hanging with this calibre of riders for anytime would be tough for most people. She has my respect.
Actually that's a pretty established trend, even Mark Beaumont used Di2 on his Trans-Africa record trip. If well maintained, Di2 lasts a pretty long time and can be fairly simple to recharge when it does eventually run out.
When setup properly Di2 is more reliable than cables and basically maintenance free, besides charging it every 3000-5000km. So yeah, def a proper choice for bikepacking...
I just didn't dig this as much as the Route 66 one. The map screens could've been a bit more detailed, I had literally no idea where they were riding until mid-way through and no sense of scale.
I found it hard to get into this film not knowing the location or distance traveled, etc. then the girl, who’s name I couldn’t catch, dropped out but no explanation for the audience. Maybe I’m not “Rapha” enough?
@@sarafletcher8420 i felt the same. I couldn't get into this one as i did the first. It also felt like there was an underlying tension through the whole thing too.
General funny comment, not directed at Sami. All the respect to her for the ride and hard times. Although from what I saw not likely. Lol. You aren’t the only folks that raced Pro/1/2 or do epic long rides.
When on I-40 for the Route 66 video with mad crosswinds and semi-trucks; no helmets. When on one of the most desolate, best paved roads in the world; helmets. Anyone else confused?
I’m from Sheshatshiu, across the River from North West River, I remember in the late 2000’s, my dad and I met a bicyclist on the highway between Churchill Falls and Goose, he biked all the way from New York, my dad invited him to our house for supper. I can’t remember his name, but he wanted to cook supper, so my mom said okay and then he took out his dirty, dusty bag of vegetables lol, after my mom seen the bag, she told him to use the our fresh vegetables instead. After supper, he asked my dad where he could get some “green”, my dad took out his stash and they both got high that day lol, he had website documenting his travels but I can’t remember it
On my TV, for sure. But maybe different speakers respond different. The intro, the music was way loud so that I put subtitles on. Still loved the film, though.
Hi, lovely film. If I wasn´t home sick I would go out bikeriding right now. I really love Gus´s hat, can anyone tell me what type of a hat it is? Thanks
On a long trip, use flat pedals to prevent from getting knee injuries. Clip in pedals are just to prevent slippage, they are not more efficient. Flat pedals are better in most situation, unless you are going racing.
Not a bad approach to riding this road. Most nights they are camping however I don't think their bikes are packed for that. Do they have support vehicles that are ahead or trailing that are setting up their site and dismantling? It'd be cool to see them bike-packing and carrying everything themself but I also suppose that isn't the intention of the ride. I'm not as critical as some other comments because I know at the end of the one of the primary goals of this is marketing.
Great film on so many levels. But what did you carry in all of those bags if yoi had a crew with ypu or sag wagon. Or am I mistaken? Splitting hairs either way! Another great piece so thank you!!
This is the second cycling video/trip I’ve seen that the same person has knee issues that effect the group! Perhaps that person needs to reevaluate their distance goals?
Just thinking the same. I’d be annoyed if I were putting the money up for this film to be made and someone showed up to take part not fit……especially as she would have been asked if she thought here knee would be able to manage
The girl with deep section ENVE wheels says, " you really dont need much, a house maybe only a bed", oh really, well can I then get those wheels plus maybe those DADi2 of yours since you only need a bed to be happy? :D Only jokes, good work on making a great movie! :)
These are the types of videos I'm into watching and making lately. Capturing adventure and culture brought by a bicycle.

Same here!
The film is awesome, inspiring, etc.... But, the soundtrack. Love it!
Really resonated with Gus' realization of the lack of empathy in riding
Love love love how you guys thoroughly and authentically connect w local people along the way. Just so rad.
Agreed. Peter you should come back up North to Canada and explore some of these roads!

Sponsored by big name companies...mum still takes him to the airport...legend👍
Hakapeszi Maki what do you mean?
@@gbrambles95proably means he's like a big shot with sponsors but still stays close to family which is a pretty nice thing
Love these videos. constantly got a grin on my face while watching.
The intro scene is awesome. I like the juxtposition.
Two thumbs up and well done from a beginning cyclist in Montreal. Unique perspective on a special part of Canada. Thanks and Hold Fast!
Thanks for sharing this great adventure. Film beautifully captures both the challenging landscape and the characters of the riders. Ride on.
Nice start in Boulder. You should just ride the GravelRado with me, Boulder to CB. All gravel, high mountains on the old railroad beds.

Love these movies! Certainly hope there are more to come!!
props for her to ride with the boys
Oh how I long for a trip like this... Nice one Dan... greetings from Namibia!
“I think that I had more fun that the guys that save!” 1:06:45 That is what this movie is about! Well done guys!
Definitely reaffirmed i need to be outside.................BEAUTIFUL
really liked this, just like 1 and 2, bit more about, nature, culture and people which is good

"Why buy a cow when you get milk through the fence" omg hahahahaha
LOL
Well that inspired me to go on a ride this evening.
her name is sami sauri, not saudi!!
just wanted to correct the spelling in the bio of this video!! ☺️☺️

The added "specialized" thing on gus his helmet is absolutely brilliant!😂
It’s from the riding fixed up mountains with pros. They show him making it
Nice story about being on the bike just for the ride and not about finishing first.
This is so beautiful and well done! You guys rocked it
deserves more views

Great vid.
Racing is not for everyone.
Enjoy the ride. Ride your own pace.
I love my bike even more now.
Enjoyed it! Thanks guys, this video series is excellent
Great film, I really enjoyed it. I watched it like 4 times.
I really love this
Nice one! Looking forward to Part 3.
Please invite Juliana Buhring to your next Rapha Films long distance ride. She was in the "Inspired to Ride" film with the late great Mike Hall.

Awesome!
My fav bicycle channel...😀👏
“Why buy the cow when you can milk from the fence?” 😂😂
Enjoyed the movie very much!
I don't know, something didn't feel right about this. Beautiful country, much better adventurers out there and without a support vehicle.
Enjoyed the Outskirts video. Unfortunate for Sami, no one chooses to get injured.
Having a Di2 bike to go bikepacking in the middle of nowhere seems like a great idea.

I’d have brought a charger though…..

I very much enjoyed this film. I'm a cyclist, at least I thought I was before this.
The mosquitos would be a deal breaker for me.

Probably took so much shit for not wearing helmets in the first one.

@raphafilms Sami's name is misspelled in the film blurb. Sauri not Saudi. Now, on with the show!
Anyone else find the music is mixed a bit too loud making it hard to hear what is being said?
On my TV, for sure. But maybe different speakers respond different. The intro, the music was way loud so that I put subtitles on.
Still loved the film, though.
Great film! Love that shit 👍
Very Mesmerising Film, #TheCyclist
awesome bike ,
It's "Sami Sauri", not "Saudi" as given in the description.
so sick
If you guys need someone who can both ride and film in the next Outskirts, let me know!

Yea, some transparency would have been nice. Once I saw the cereal boxes, I realized they weren't supporting themselves

Not much of the stories behind them, but a lot of specialized and envie marketing... Some local bike builders would be more fitted to Rapha style ;)
Disc brakes ruined the look and the aerodynamic of the bicycles. 😞
