The good news about the beaver-sourced "natural vanilla" is that it is substantially more expensive even than normal vanilla so you'll really only ever find it in expensive perfumes. It's a shocking truism on the internet, but in all practicality it's not something people have to worry about anymore given the economic realities of each source of vanilla flavoring.
sad that cocoa krispies didn't make the list. I can say from experience that cocoa krispie treats are next level amazing. They aren't too sweet, you get just enough chocolate taste, and for whatever reason they are sooooooo addicting! My family of 4 demolished an entire 9x13 pan of cocoa krispie treats in one sitting without realizing it.
I, along with the rest of the nostalgic millenials here, THANK YOU for this video. It was the only next logical step in the Rice Krispie series. Next video: All the popular chips! Including Pringles while Katelyn wears her fabulous Resin Pringle Earrings.
Good news! Beaver butt juice is actually more expensive than other natural vanilla flavoring now, so it's not used in food as often anymore. It is used in perfume a lot though!
@@kitsune0rei Apparently there are a few beaver farms in the US where they milk beavers. Usually the animals are killed for their glands. Another good thing about the EU - our "natural vanilla" comes from different sources (lignin, fungi) because our beavers are protected.

Brown butter is awesome. 😋 A touch of ghee is also a delicious way of getting some complexity. You can even make it from scratch! Edit: I recommend Desi ghee. It gives a nice nutty flavor.
I don’t think I’ve ever thought y’all were “wrong” about anything, but definitely about fruity pebbles rice crispies! Lol. I love them. Brown your butter 😭
Evan: Cereal is for morning and night, if you have it for lunch, you're weird. Also Evan, like, a minute later: We just had lunch, but this cereal is making me hungry again
I was always told with making rice crispies to keep adding in ceral until it becomes possible to add more because theres not enough marshmellow, and I wonder if that's why some of them were so goey. I think the marshmellow to ceral ratio changes based on the cereal. Might play around at home, this looks fun! Great video
After seeing other comments I propose: "Will it Rice Krispie? - Binding Agent Edition". All kinds of cheese, gummies, eggs, meringue, caramel/toffee, chocolate, maybe even sugar-free marshmallows? Has potential to be both good for Evan and cursed for Katelyn :D
They changed the flavor of most fruity cereals. Contrary to what E&K think the "natural flavors" are worse than the artificial ones that we used to get as kids and strangely taste more artificial than the fakes ones.
The key to using corn flakes in Rice Krispies is using plain corn flakes. My mom makes a Christmas cookie with them in Rice Krispie form. she dyes them green and shapes them into little wreaths, they’re adorable and delicious
Yeah, I was surprised that they didn't try plain cornflakes! Me and my mum used to always make those but melt them with chocolate instead of marshmallow and they were delicious
Ok, so I’m 11 minutes into the video and you’ve just finished tasting and rating the Fruity Pebbles. I just want to say that there is a way to make them DELICIOUS in a rice crispy treat!! I always do a 2:1 ratio of Rice Crispy Cereal to Fruity Pebbles, so if I’m making a full batch, that is 4 cups Rice Crispy and 2 cups Fruity Pebbles. I’ve always made mine that way and always received many compliments! I highly recommend you try it that way! ❤️
YES! Do this with any cereal to get the great airy texture AND the added interesting flavors. This works great for cinnamon toast crunch and my favorite is golden grahams!
Ooo to piggy back off this I could see Fruity Pebbles being super yummy mixed with slightly crushed frosted flakes....Ackk now my mouth is watering, I am definitely going to have to try them in the near future!! 🤤🙏🤤🙏
I mean, I learned that "fun" fact a couple of years ago, and I instantly knew where they were going with it when they mentioned vanilla and natural flavor. It's reasonable that Evan has it seared into his memory lol
You gotta go salty! Maybe try different snacks like mini pretzels, Cheeze-Itz, saltines???? I love this series and can't wait to see more of whatever you decide to do
I love how you two rip on the most common of these rice krispies treat combos like fruity pebbles and lucky charms yet the special K is one of the weirdest ones I can see and you love it
I’ve actually made the fruity pebbles one my whole life, my grandma did it with both fruity pebbles and coco pebbles. It is amazing! I don’t disagree with you often but I definitely do here.
same here , as a cereal eater my whole life not enjoying fruity pebbles early in life has clouded their cereal palates lol . many people make treats with fruity pebbles rather than rice and as they are sweet it's the point. yumm . something tells me they've never tried chocolate chips or m&m's as well as PeanutButter chips or white chocolate. they missed early in life causing their tongue's to not like sweet crispies as children it would seem but i could be wrong.
The Beaver Vanilla was a thing back before Synthetic Vanilla was discovered, but only for a very short time because it was as difficult to harvest as the Orchid Vanilla, but in a different way, obviously. Most of the vanilla flavored things you'll find is made with Synthetic Vanilla (Liquid Vanilla Extract) unless it specifies Vanilla Bean (Orchid Bean)
I was just doing an internet deep dive about this cuz I just thought there’s no way that it’s more cost effective to milk a beaver than to get actual vanilla! I had to run to my fam and announce ‘good news, vanilla flavoring doesn’t come from the anal glands of beavers… but it used to’
@@klaaskingma7435 youre right the material in perfume is called Castoreum they also use it to make leathery notes. ive never smelled it and dont intend too but im pretty sure its still used in some small perfume companies not as much in commercial perfumes because its expensive
Yeah, but the artificial vanilla (aka vanillin) still comes from wood pulp or crude oil. It's literally a by-product of paper making (Lignin, the stuff that yellows cheap paper if it's not removed) and in the 70s and 80s, a single pulp and paper mill in Thorold, Ontario supplied 60% of the world market for synthetic vanillin. (yes, this still counts as "natural") OR left over from making gasoline and plastic, approximately 85% of vanillin is synthesized in a two-step process from the petrochemicals guaiacol and glyoxylic acid.
Here in England, wheats are called Wheetbix. They look a little different, (but it's essentially the same thing) but it's a very normal thing to have for breakfast. People often have it with warm milk, and sometimes people microwave it!
The ones they use in the video are clearly mini *shredded wheats* though - not wheetabix at all! Wheetabix is a completely different kind of cereal to shredded wheat: one (wheetabix) is made of compacted flakes in a block and the other (shredded wheats) is a package of thin twigs. The taste, texture and look is so different I don't understand how you equate them to being 'essentially the same thing'
@@moodycowcrafts4862 I think they were talking about when Katelyn mentioned the "one big loaf" wheats which I was shocked that they found weird because apart from the slight change of flakes to twigs the concept is exactly what wheetabix are and they are extremely normal to have for breakfast here in the UK!
I am constantly finding myself praising Kaitlyn's editing. She has amazing comedic timing and the zooms and the tracking all ad the "meme-on-sen" if you will
As a person that snacks, almost daily, on frosted mini wheats, I can imagine I would probably like that one the most- but I respect that they are also little barrels of hay. Lol
i dont know what frosted mini wheats are like, but i assume pretty close to weetbix (australian cereal) and i recommend you try and get some if you can! or alternatively weetbix bites in your preferred flavour :>
@@oaksapling__ As someone from the US who spent 3 months in Australia and ate Weetbix, I can confirm that they are extremely similar, if not the same thing.
So, also a Connoisseur, but they are a mixed batch of flavors! Lemon, orange, cherry, berry blue, “incredibly purple” and berry pink! That being said, what those three later flavors are is anyones guess! 😄
Yes I've been saying this! I first noticed it when I created Fruity Pebbles vape juice and realized it's basically just lemon flavor. There are other flavors there but they are all totally crushed by the dominating lemon
Vanilla doesn’t come from beaver scenting glands anymore. It’s generally synthesised in a lab because it’s _far_ cheaper and beavers don’t produce much vanillin.
Tip for fruity pebble rice crispys, I used to make them a lot for get together. I mix rice crispies and fruity pebbles and boom. Not too sweet with the flavor of “rainbows” I haven’t finished the video but I wanted to comment this. It’s my favorite rice crispies :D
The beaver bland thing is a common misconception. Yes, there is "natural" vanilla made from beaver glands, but it cheaper to make it in a lab. So most vanilla flavored thing don't come from beavers.
Yeah, but if it's made in a lab, it would be called "artificial flavor", right? Katelyn specified that it was only ones classified as "natural flavor".
@@RockyOtter it is used as a food additive, but not very commonly, it's primary use is in perfumes. The vast majority of natural vanilla flavoring comes from the vanilla fruit(aka bean), i think on the order of 80%+ but i can't remember exactly
My mom makes s’more rice Krispie treats! She replaces the Rice Krispies with golden grams and adds chocolate and mini marshmallows after the golden grams are added and it’s really good
I make a snack mix like this, but with the mallow bits (aka freeze dried marshmallows) like in hot cocoa mix (you can buy just the mallows on Amazon.) I melt the chocolate and drizzle that over the golden grahams then sprinkle the mini mallows while it's still melty.
Seven eleven actually makes a fruity pebbles rice krispies! But they just sprinkle in the fruity pebbles so it's not as overwhelming, it's really great for sugar cravings
Tbh if you want them to be crunchy ( like almost all of them ) instead of trying by volume you should add the cereal by weight ( and having always the same weight by batch ) because some cereals have more surface area than others and so take more or less marshmellow to be covered, but except that, good video !
For years I’ve always made krispies with Chex cereal, but just the plain ones the wheat, rice and corn, they’re low in sugar so they make a great krispy. I also love the combination of sweet and salty so if I’m making a full batch I’ll add a half cup of peanut butter in with the butter and let both melt then add the marshmallows you should really try it and skip the egg krispies please!
Yeah my mom always uses 1/2 a cup of PB to regular Rice Krispies, she uses a little less butter to make room for it. Very much the bomb. I could see where the plain chex would work, but I tried it once with the cinna chex and while it wasn't Baaad per se, it wasn't as good as the PB Rice Krispies. And I second your skipping of the egg, like maybe with cooked regular rice, but not the Krispies, please not the Krispies.
38:28 i love how after she says she’s not trying any more of the bad ones, as soon as Evan says the mini wheat krispies are **worse** than before, Katelyn immediately reaches to try it
Rest assured, beaver butt juice is mostly used in perfumes. I had a friend growing up and their mom added peanut butter to their Rice Krispie treats. Delicious!
I actually agree with Katelyn on the cheese substitute! It's the savory equivalent of marshmallow binders, cheddar being the best one. I would never swap out the marshmallows for the cheddar in the cereal experiment though, ew :(
@@crains8087 Maybe for taste, but I thought cheddar because it's the one I immediately think of when I think of melty cheese that is firm when solid :) (I also kind of like cheddar best :p)
I don’t know about you guys but one time my grandma was trying to make homemade fruity pebble rice crispys and she accidentally mixed the frosted crispy cereal (it’s just like regular rice crispy cereal but sweetened) and the fruity pebbles in one mix and added the marshmallow and made the bars and even though it was a mistake bc the recipe calls for only fruity pebbles, the bars were amazing! You guys should definitely try even if you only make a couple to test, they’re really great!
The way you guys talk about cereal makes me think you’d get along great with John Kellogg, who refused to add sugar to the cereal he sold. He wanted it to be as bland and tasteless as possible, believing it was morally wrong to derive pleasure from food. His brother disagreed and went on to found Kellogg’s, which became widely successful for some reason. :)
@@moodysmilkjug John Kellogg was a Dr who believed that food should be kept boring and plain and that would keep away sin... the biggest sin being masturbation. That was literally the reason cornflakes were invented.
Katelyn came to the cereal dessert game craving savory, which might have affected the rankings. But if you're still fiending for sodium, I'd like to suggest Chex mix treats. I think there's some real potential there.
The big “loaf” of mini wheats is called shredded wheat here in the UK and they’re very popular! Just whack a load of milk on them, maybe add a bit of sugar or fruit and it’s great 🥰
@@LysolMyFace Nope, Weetbix are called Weetabix in the UK. Shredded wheat are just wheat with no salt or sugar, it's extruded into strands and they're wrapped into a fairly airy lump. I really dislike them.
We do "holly candy" every year for Christmas, and it's basically a plain corn flake krispie treat but the marshmallow is dyed green and you pull it out in clumps with your (clean and buttered) hands and put red mini M&M's on top for the berries (or mini red hot cinnamon candies if you like it spicy and not chocolate). So corn flake-based cereals should rice krispie really well if you do it right (I have not finished the video yet so let's find out...)
@@EvanAndKatelyn2 One idea you could try is mix in some chunky peanut butter with the marshmallow mixture, then mix in the rice crispies like usual. After you mix everything and place it in the pan, drizzle melted chocolate on top, then place the whole thing in the fridge to cool till solid. I've done this before and it was soooo good. ❤🍫🥜🤤
We don't get Rice Krispies in Germany so I used to bring 2-3 Boxes home with me every time we went to the US for vacation. Used to eat them dry, just as a random snack. This makes me wanna get some vegan marshmallows and go back to the roots...
I think you should definitely try some more "generic" cereals for these: corn puffs, wheat puffs, plain rice puffs, and try some other less sweet things like Grape Nuts or the fried Chinese noodles that you make haystack cookies with. Still, if you're making them for kids, the Fruity Pebbles are the absolute best, kids love the rainbow treats and don't care about extra sickly sweet. For adults, coat them in dark chocolate to counter the sweet a bit and make them much easier to handle.
haven't made them in decades, but we used to do "wreathes" with plain corn flakes, and a ton of green food coloring in the marshmallow, then you add a few red hots for the berries. did find the corn to be more flavorful than rice
Ok, but hear me out: A "trick or treat" station for a Halloween party where you make a bunch of delicious and terrible krispie treats and wrap them individually so it's a surprise.
The literally did everything the wrong way with your supposed to make Rice Krispie treats. 1) do NOT melt marshmallows and butter on high heat (,they did) 2) do NOT add more than 1/3 of the cereal to the marshmallows at one time(they added it all) 3) do not pack the treats into the pan (they did. you'll end up with hard uneven treats) It was so frustrating to watch there be no consistency while these were being made and to watch that biggest same mistakes over and over and just not even attempt to figure out if they were doing something wrong
Agreed. And I'm surprised that they've never had rice Krispie treats made with Fruity Pebbles, they're a mainstay of every bake sale / pot luck I've attended.
I know this video is a bit older but...... The Fruity Pebbles work great if you do a 50/50 to traditional rice crispy cereal. It helps to calm down the overly fruity flavor. Works great with Cocoa Pebbles too. I also forgot to note, add a pinch of sea salt to the marshmallow as it melts will cut the sweetness
Yeah, mixing some of these definitely helps. 😂 I wanted them to figure out the perfect ratio of Fruity Pebbles to Rice Krispies, regular Cheerios to Honey Nut Cheerios, etc.
One of the first things I remember about school is, in K we made cheerio-marshmallow christmas trees (add a little green food coloring) with small gumdrops for ornaments.
Golden Grahams would be a good one to do this with. I remember there being a recipe on the boxes for something similar when I was a kid that we would do every so often and it was great
What about a gummy type rice krispy? Where instead of marshmallow keeping everything together you use gummy worms? Or maybe even something like sour patch kids.
Marshmallows have many of the same ingredients as gummies. The difference is that marshmallows are whipped. Most of the air is lost when making treats. So if making treats with gummies, you would want to replace by weight not volume.
@@EvanAndKatelyn2 that is why you would want to replace the marshmallows by weight not volume. Marshmallows are whipped sugar and gelatin with other things, but have similar ingredients to gummies. Gummies just have a higher proportion of gelatin to other ingredients. If done right, they could be a less sweet alternative for cereal treats, but maybe not. We wouldn't know until someone is brave enough to try.
For less sweet marshmallows, you can make your own pretty easily (only needs 5 ingredients). That way you can make it at the level of sweetness (or other cursed flavor profile 😉) you want. You can even skip the last step of forming the little pillows and just keep it as marshmallow fluff! Custom Rice Krispie easy mode 😎
The fruity pebble rice krispy treats the bakery near me sells that are made with homemade marshmallow (like you suggested), brown butter (which adds a bit of savoriness), and then a sprinkle of sea salt (which tones down the sweetness). It turns them from cloyingly sweet to rich and decadent.
@@addemare The place near me makes the cheerios version, but with like 1 /5th of them replaced with Fruit Loops and that works well too. Just a touch for color/flavor but not overload on faux fruit.
I was coming here to say this. Egg whites/ meringue is the marshmallow substitute they are looking for. E&K could make their own flavor marshmallows i.e. salty or maybe a nice vinegar flavor; at the very least making your own marshmallows lets you set the sweetness level.
When I was in elementary school, there was a mom that whenever she made rice krispie treats she would throw like a cup of fruity pebbles in with the regular rice krispies and make the treats that way. Always a winner! Also on a side, who eats non-treatified rice krispies on a regular basis? I have a theory that the majority of rice krispies sold are for non cereal related activities.
Yall are getting me through my surgery with your videos! All the different video types really helps me be able to just hit the next one and relax. I love you guys
Big wheaties are absolutely amazing in the winter time. I grew up in England because I'm a military brat and my mother would always make me those in the morning with some sugar on top and warm milk. She would also add whatever fruit was available. Yummy
I agree completely about them being amazing in the winter. We always had shredded wheat on cold mornings. My mom used to make it all the time for us. Also, since Evan and Katelyn don’t seem to have ever had them they are misunderstanding it’s supposed to be shredded in the bowl (hence the name being shredded wheat). :(
They’re so good! I’m Australian and I assume they are the same as weetbix and I love having them with sugar and honey and warm milk. I love that the sugar makes the top of them a little crispy/crunchy but the rest of them is nice and soft from the warm milk. So good.
In the UK we make Rice Krispie / Cornflake treats by just coating them with warm/hot chocolate. Just enough chocolate to coat the cereal... and for Katelyn... you could even use dark chocolate or salted chocolate.
I eat cereal dry, so it's kinda fun and interesting watching you guys realize things I already knew. (Like how did you not know the Rasien Bran rasiens were coated in sugar, lol) That being said, there are probably a lot of things about how cereal is when in milk that I don't know. So I can't judge ya too harshly.
Some dry cereal is a yummy alternative to crunchy stuff like popcorn, chips, etc. Raisin bran, shreddies, life, i love those. Quaker harvest crunch is yummy but $$$$$
Now I want to try this with apple cinnamon cheerios! My family actually makes adapted rice krispies treats during the holidays. We add peanut butter, smoosh it in the pan, then add a layer of melted chocolate+butterscotch on top. HIGHLY recommend.
I'm re-watching this again but when you talked about savoury cheese krispie treats, I talked to my mom about it and she said 'Cream cheese could work easily' and honestly! I can agree with this! Cream cheese softens pretty easily, you can whip it a little to fluff it up and chilling it keeps its softness while keeping it held together. Maybe a bit of mozzarella mixed in for stringiness? and obviously-pretzels! I think the little cube bite-sized ones would work best, you don't want big chunks.
Here’s my recipe for my rice crispy treats: Melt a tablespoon of butter and peanut butter in a pan at low heat Then stir in a whole bag of mini marshmallows until melted Then take pan of the heat and add 6 cups rice crispy cereal (you can also add some chocolate chips here if you want) stir till completely combined Put in a pan and cool in the fridge for an hour or until set. Cut into squares and serve ~
When Katelyn bit the special K rice krispy, my cat was chomping his food behind me exactly in sync with her. So it was almost like her bite had an extremely crisp cat kibble sound 😂
I got very excited when I saw you bring out the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. When I was a kid, my friends mom would make us Cinnamon Toast Crunch "Krispies". Seeing you slice into it brought back memories for me.
My family makes a version of rice krispies every year for the holidays with peanut butter and melted butterscotch chips instead of marshmallows and they're sooo good, salty and sweet and peanut buttery. 10/10 holiday treat
This is a prime example of how everyone loves different foods. I just made the fruity pebbles crispness a few weeks ago and everyone loved it in our family. No one in our family will touch the mini wheats or life cereals, they are very gross to me, my opinion only.
I am absolutely not a fan of sweets, but Fruity Pebbles is one of my favorite cereals (alongside Reese's). Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but I still eat it sometimes as an adult.
You guys HAVE to try Scotcheroos! It's exactly what you're looking for. It's Rice Krispie Treats but you use peanut butter instead of marshmallows and then pour a layer of chocolate on top. It's the perfect krispie!
Rice Krispies Treats with peanut butter and chocolate are amazing. My grandmother used to give me a container of them every Christmas. One of the best gifts to get!
Reminds me of cute Easter treats I'd make with my mum every year to bring to school. Instead of Rice Krispies we'd use crushed up Shredded Wheat cereal and make them into little bird's nest shapes! Then once they were cool, each nest got three Cadbury Mini Eggs in it. You can make them with regular Rice Krispies too, but the Shredded Wheat just looked more like the sticks and twigs of an actual bird's nest
I feel like after this you need to do a mix. I really like Fruit Pebbles Rice Krispy Treats, but I do half regular in the mix. But I love sweet things. Like a Cadbury Egg isn't too sweet at all for me. I could eat a few in a row.
Popcorn rice krispy treats are amazing. The salty, buttery flavor is great with the marshmallow sweetness & doesn’t get overpowering. Highly recommend trying it
When I was a kid we used to do a similar thing with stirring Rice Krispies or cornflakes into melted chocolate, heaping it in paper cupcake cases and letting it cool. That could be interesting with something cinnamon flavoured. I also want to see savoury krispie treats!
I'm from Australia, we have something similar, we use a cereal that idk if other countries have called crunchy nut which is cornflakes covered in sugar syrup and we mix them with honey and set them in cupcakes tin. They are a party food
I got really excited when you all said one of your favorite indulgences is Cinnamon Toast Crunch when I was sitting here at 3 AM eating a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It is hands-down the best cereal.
As someone else already pointed out, the gooey may be because they're too thick. Also maybe the cooling method? I've only ever let them cool gradually in the fridge, not the freezer.
@@notamarsupial316 Yeah I felt like it was to much marshmallow as well. Everytime they dumped in the cereal the ratio looked horribly off to me. The cereals all have vastly different volumes especially compared to rice crispies.
24:07 specifically for the cinammon toast crunch one, in the UK we have a version called curiously cinammon which is no where near as good as a regular cereal because way less sweet but might be perfect for these if you can find it
Frosted Mini Wheats are absolutely a snacking cereal. We get the big double bag boxes from Costco and they disappear pretty quickly. I used to love "Big Wheats" as a kid. Especially warm like in the black and white clip.

They changed the flavor of most fruity cereals. Contrary to what E&K think the "natural flavors" are worse than the artificial ones that we used to get as kids and strangely taste more artificial than the fakes ones.
I prefer half and half krispies and pebbles
The key to using corn flakes in Rice Krispies is using plain corn flakes. My mom makes a Christmas cookie with them in Rice Krispie form. she dyes them green and shapes them into little wreaths, they’re adorable and delicious
Yeah, I was surprised that they didn't try plain cornflakes! Me and my mum used to always make those but melt them with chocolate instead of marshmallow and they were delicious
Yeah I did the Christmas wreaths- added cinnamon red hots on top so they were like Holly berries.😂

Yea these are all the rage at bake sales in my area lol.
Came to say the exact same thing, it works so well at that blend.
Ooo to piggy back off this I could see Fruity Pebbles being super yummy mixed with slightly crushed frosted flakes....Ackk now my mouth is watering, I am definitely going to have to try them in the near future!! 🤤🙏🤤🙏
The grocery store i work at actually sells their own version that is pretty close to this ratio. Its like the perfect balance
17:13 I love how, somehow, Evan knew *exactly* what Katelyn was going to say as soon as he heard “vanilla natural flavor”
So did I lol
@@doradjdhr8171 it makes me think this was a recent or often had conversation between them 😂😂
I mean, I learned that "fun" fact a couple of years ago, and I instantly knew where they were going with it when they mentioned vanilla and natural flavor. It's reasonable that Evan has it seared into his memory lol
You gotta go salty! Maybe try different snacks like mini pretzels, Cheeze-Itz, saltines???? I love this series and can't wait to see more of whatever you decide to do

Probably because of the strawberries in the one they chose.😊
@@bustinnutz2 I agree.
U can't freeze it! I agree makes it different!
When I was a kid our Fruity Pebbles Treats had regular Rice Krispies mixed in. I always assumed it was to reduce the sweetness a little.
Same here. Fruity Pebble treats are amazing!
I had to run to my fam and announce ‘good news, vanilla flavoring doesn’t come from the anal glands of beavers… but it used to’
The beaver vanilla was mostly used in perfumes and for scents because it apparently gave it a sweet scent.
@@klaaskingma7435 youre right the material in perfume is called Castoreum they also use it to make leathery notes. ive never smelled it and dont intend too but im pretty sure its still used in some small perfume companies not as much in commercial perfumes because its expensive
This is why "real" vanilla is like 20 bucks for a bottle the size of airplane booze while synthetic vanilla you can get 10 ounces for $5.
I have been making fruity pebble krispies my whole life and they have always been a favorite of mine.
Agreed! They were a staple in my childhood too.
Right!!!
Me too!!! I'm so sad they ranked at the bottom 😐
same. guess I'm just an unsophisticated adult with a child's palate. 🙄🙄
I am so surprised they never had them before, and then put them at the bottom??? I'm like yall boring cheerios, nope gimme Fruity Pebbles please! Haha
She has amazing comedic timing and the zooms and the tracking all ad the "meme-on-sen" if you will
I am constantly amazed by this and to this day have no clue how she does it so dang well.
As a person that snacks, almost daily, on frosted mini wheats, I can imagine I would probably like that one the most- but I respect that they are also little barrels of hay. Lol
You're not the only one who likes to snack on them!!
I've snacked on Frosted Mini Wheats dry!
i dont know what frosted mini wheats are like, but i assume pretty close to weetbix (australian cereal) and i recommend you try and get some if you can! or alternatively weetbix bites in your preferred flavour :>

I'm a proud "Adult Fruity Pebbles Connoisseur"
Fun fact: they're lemon flavor
No way really? I hate lemon everything but i like fruity pebbles??????
So, also a Connoisseur, but they are a mixed batch of flavors! Lemon, orange, cherry, berry blue, “incredibly purple” and berry pink! That being said, what those three later flavors are is anyones guess! 😄
Yes I've been saying this! I first noticed it when I created Fruity Pebbles vape juice and realized it's basically just lemon flavor. There are other flavors there but they are all totally crushed by the dominating lemon
My life is flashing before me, lemon? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Same! Not to mention they've been making and selling Fruity Pebbles Krispies for a long time, as well as chips and other things.
Not too sweet with the flavor of “rainbows”
I haven’t finished the video but I wanted to comment this. It’s my favorite rice crispies :D
True. When I see fruity rice treats they're usually half and half if not 1/3 fruit to 2/3 rice.
Same I can’t believe they ranked it worst one, even worse than soggy Raisin Bran???
She replaces the Rice Krispies with golden grams and adds chocolate and mini marshmallows after the golden grams are added and it’s really good
Oh dang!! I need to try this immediately. It sounds delicious 🤤
I know is was so mad they didnt do this
My mother did the same. I think it was a recipe on the back of the cereal about 40 years ago!
Yesss those are so good!
Agreed
For years I’ve always made krispies with Chex cereal, but just the plain ones the wheat, rice and corn, they’re low in sugar so they make a great krispy. I also love the combination of sweet and salty so if I’m making a full batch I’ll add a half cup of peanut butter in with the butter and let both melt then add the marshmallows you should really try it and skip the egg krispies please!
OoOoOoooo I wanna try this, sounds delicious!
38:28 i love how after she says she’s not trying any more of the bad ones, as soon as Evan says the mini wheat krispies are **worse** than before, Katelyn immediately reaches to try it
Evan: *While stirring lucky charms in marshmallows* this is classy
Me: Ah yes, the pinnacle of sophistication
Rest assured, beaver butt juice is mostly used in perfumes. I had a friend growing up and their mom added peanut butter to their Rice Krispie treats. Delicious!
4/5 rice crispy 1/5 fruity pebbles is actually a really great combo.
I now have a requirement before I die; taste that.
i do this too, its very good
Ooo, I gotta try that
I could definitely see that being better than the pure pebbles, which was just too extreme for us
@@EvanAndKatelyn2 yep you need to cut the sweetness
I actually agree with Katelyn on the cheese substitute! It's the savory equivalent of marshmallow binders, cheddar being the best one. I would never swap out the marshmallows for the cheddar in the cereal experiment though, ew :(
I think Swiss because it is more neutral.
@@crains8087 Maybe for taste, but I thought cheddar because it's the one I immediately think of when I think of melty cheese that is firm when solid :)
(I also kind of like cheddar best :p)

Wouldn't fondue be a good starting point? Or would you specifically want pure cheese to melt then firm up again?

Lol "some reason" xd
You forgot to mention the whole masturbation aspect of it lol
@@quinnzelreign8775 wait what
@@moodysmilkjug John Kellogg was a Dr who believed that food should be kept boring and plain and that would keep away sin... the biggest sin being masturbation. That was literally the reason cornflakes were invented.

Katelyn came to the cereal dessert game craving savory, which might have affected the rankings. But if you're still fiending for sodium, I'd like to suggest Chex mix treats. I think there's some real potential there.
Yes!!! And there are both sweet AND savory options there, so you could really experiment with a wide range of different tastes!
I love the shot when Katelyn pours the cereal in the pot, it’s so satisfying
The big “loaf” of mini wheats is called shredded wheat here in the UK and they’re very popular! Just whack a load of milk on them, maybe add a bit of sugar or fruit and it’s great 🥰
I assume they’re basically weetbix? I’m from Australia and I love me some weetbix
@@LysolMyFace Nope, Weetbix are called Weetabix in the UK.
Shredded wheat are just wheat with no salt or sugar, it's extruded into strands and they're wrapped into a fairly airy lump.
I really dislike them.
also the life things are just shreddies aha
We do "holly candy" every year for Christmas, and it's basically a plain corn flake krispie treat but the marshmallow is dyed green and you pull it out in clumps with your (clean and buttered) hands and put red mini M&M's on top for the berries (or mini red hot cinnamon candies if you like it spicy and not chocolate). So corn flake-based cereals should rice krispie really well if you do it right (I have not finished the video yet so let's find out...)

Crumbled reese's puffs added to regular rice krispies... that sounds like it would be amazing.

@@EvanAndKatelyn2 One idea you could try is mix in some chunky peanut butter with the marshmallow mixture, then mix in the rice crispies like usual.
The fruity pebbles are so good and no one can change my mind

Yesss, they gotta retry with all the unsweetened cereals.
haven't made them in decades, but we used to do "wreathes" with plain corn flakes, and a ton of green food coloring in the marshmallow, then you add a few red hots for the berries. did find the corn to be more flavorful than rice
Ok, but hear me out:
A "trick or treat" station for a Halloween party where you make a bunch of delicious and terrible krispie treats and wrap them individually so it's a surprise.
That's right up there with caramel covered apples and onions!
The literally did everything the wrong way with your supposed to make Rice Krispie treats.
1) do NOT melt marshmallows and butter on high heat (,they did)
2) do NOT add more than 1/3 of the cereal to the marshmallows at one time(they added it all)
3) do not pack the treats into the pan (they did. you'll end up with hard uneven treats)
It was so frustrating to watch there be no consistency while these were being made and to watch that biggest same mistakes over and over and just not even attempt to figure out if they were doing something wrong
Agreed. And I'm surprised that they've never had rice Krispie treats made with Fruity Pebbles, they're a mainstay of every bake sale / pot luck I've attended.
I love Katelyn’s dedication to making the most cursed snacks.
Tony the Tiger: "They're GRREAT!"
Evan: "They're okay"
One of the first things I remember about school is, in K we made cheerio-marshmallow christmas trees (add a little green food coloring) with small gumdrops for ornaments.
Golden Grahams would be a good one to do this with. I remember there being a recipe on the boxes for something similar when I was a kid that we would do every so often and it was great
What about a gummy type rice krispy? Where instead of marshmallow keeping everything together you use gummy worms? Or maybe even something like sour patch kids.
Or having the marshmallow as normal but the 'krispy' being the gummy candy
Marshmallows have many of the same ingredients as gummies. The difference is that marshmallows are whipped. Most of the air is lost when making treats.
So if making treats with gummies, you would want to replace by weight not volume.
Oooo i like that. what a dense brick that would be
@@EvanAndKatelyn2 that is why you would want to replace the marshmallows by weight not volume.
They have sour patch marshmallows.
Seriously reconsidering my Patreon support after the fruity pebbles placement 🤣 Thanks for the laughs!

Corn Flakes - we started using this when I was a kid. More flavour than Rice Krispies, but no sugar coating like Frosted Flakes. SO yummy!
My phone is a genius
E&K could make their own flavor marshmallows i.e. salty or maybe a nice vinegar flavor; at the very least making your own marshmallows lets you set the sweetness level.
would love to see this!
When I was in elementary school, there was a mom that whenever she made rice krispie treats she would throw like a cup of fruity pebbles in with the regular rice krispies and make the treats that way. Always a winner!

So good.

We're gonna need more details on that! 😍
Really enjoying seeing more of Katelyns chaotic cryptid side in this one
Here’s my recipe for my rice crispy treats:
Melt a tablespoon of butter and peanut butter in a pan at low heat
Then stir in a whole bag of mini marshmallows until melted
Then take pan of the heat and add 6 cups rice crispy cereal (you can also add some chocolate chips here if you want)
stir till completely combined
Put in a pan and cool in the fridge for an hour or until set.
No one in our family will touch the mini wheats or life cereals, they are very gross to me, my opinion only.
to each their own! We tend to prefer less sweet things but it seems like way more people LOVE the fruity pebbles version!

Oh i was thinking about chickpeas but yours is even better 😂
Reminds me of cute Easter treats I'd make with my mum every year to bring to school. Instead of Rice Krispies we'd use crushed up Shredded Wheat cereal and make them into little bird's nest shapes! Then once they were cool, each nest got three Cadbury Mini Eggs in it. You can make them with regular Rice Krispies too, but the Shredded Wheat just looked more like the sticks and twigs of an actual bird's nest

Popcorn rice krispy treats are amazing. The salty, buttery flavor is great with the marshmallow sweetness & doesn’t get overpowering. Highly recommend trying it
My favorite cereal is Corn Pops. And yes, I've crispy treated them and they were delish!
I think part of the issue is that they used the same amount of marshmallow/butter regardless of how much surface area it would be adhering to.
@@notamarsupial316 Yeah I felt like it was to much marshmallow as well. Everytime they dumped in the cereal the ratio looked horribly off to me. The cereals all have vastly different volumes especially compared to rice crispies.
I have always added peanut butter to my rice Krispee treats. It works well for cheerios treats, too.
24:07 specifically for the cinammon toast crunch one, in the UK we have a version called curiously cinammon which is no where near as good as a regular cereal because way less sweet but might be perfect for these if you can find it
And here I am who often had sugar cubes as treats growing up. Hardly anything is too sweet for me.
Just made golden grahams treats with chocolate chips. SMORES TREATS!
THAT SOUNDS SO GOOD
This is my favorite version of krispy treat!
Frosted Mini Wheats are absolutely a snacking cereal. We get the big double bag boxes from Costco and they disappear pretty quickly. I used to love "Big Wheats" as a kid. Especially warm like in the black and white clip.
