@@eugene44569 literally all bikes aren't in stock right now, and I don't feel like waiting months for a bike to arrive. And in general, I'm a big Trek fan. So for me it was a great investment. And trust me, I literally spent a whole year researching every full suspension bike I could, from Giant, Vitus, Marin, Polygon, Diamondback, you name it. Great real time review and ride footage, guys! I agree 100% about if it's advertised at a certain amount of travel it should have it (that's false advertising...a lie...as far as I'm concerned). Fwiw, being older and fatter now that I'm getting back to riding that also means I'm slower than I used to be so the way a fork feels on the Smalls is every bit as important to me as the bigger hits (so thank you for always talking about that in detail too). Great review video guys 😁✌

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I didn't know this before, the stock wheel is a freewheel so if you wanted more gears you have to change out the wheel itself to upgrade to a cassette. I went with the bucklos 27.5 wheelset to use the original tires. For the groupset I got the 10speed 42t shimano. Lost 4lbs of weight so far and able to climb much better.
Watching the fork travel I’d say it’s staying very low in its travel. Normally I’d say add some air but I’m curious if it’s losing air slowly and that’s why it’s so nice over the smalls. The give out factor has to do with air volume. That’s where an air token would come into play to increase ramp up. So the air pressure is right but has too much volume. Another great video, I’ll quit rambling tech. Great riding and good fun!
Well love some tech talk and especially done that way. Appreciate that, now we need to take the air all out and try to ok extend.....then maybe air it up??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS well with a larger 34mm stanchion and longer travel the amount of air or air volume is pretty big. Ex: a 30mm 100mm travel air spring set to 100PSI would be a lot less air than a 34mm 140mm set at 100PSI. Air compresses under load so the more air you have the more travel it takes to firm up through the compression. The 100 mm fork might get firm after 25mm of travel but the 140 might take 40-50mm of travel before it firms up fir big hits. If you add an air token it reduces the air volume but you put the same air pressure back in. Usually an air token threads on the bottom of the top cap on the air chamber side. Air tokens don’t limit travel, they change the way the travel feels. I have no idea if lutu has provisions for an air token. The limited travel either comes from the wrong air spring shaft, a spacer put in wrong at the factory, or maybe the wrong damper put in the non air side. They are a cartridge type thing so you could probably bolt a shorter on in and that would limit the travel. I’d email and ask them about the travel problem.
SCHOOL IS ON SESSION:) It is funny you cannot find this on the internet, you can but man...You explain it so well, thank you. And I highly doubt Lutu has "air tokens"
The reason new forks start to sit down in the travel is negative chamber equalization. All brand new forks do this. You will have to add pressure a few times until both chambers equalize at your desired pressure.
We agree 100%. This is the reason we scored it at 127mm instead of the lower numbers due to suck. We do cycle air pressure and physically pull forks apart to ensure they get full credit. The mechanical limits were measured for sure. The company acknowledged that they might be off by a little, so they stopped marketing them as a 140mm and started marketing them as a 120mm fork. Thanks👍
We hear you man, but Northwest Arkansas gets a ton of attention and we like to promote our more local River Valley and Central Arkansas trails. Mt. Nebo was featured on BKXC and Brian thought very highly of it himself. We will eventually venture out a little more when we have the time to travel. Remember though neither one of us are very good riders, just mediocre TH-camrs😜.
Nice review on the fork. I agree if it is advertised as 140mm you should be getting 140mm out of the box. If it is in fact a 140mm fork more than likely there are spacers in the negative air spring that can be removed if not then shame on the seller for false advertisement. This would make a great cross country fork though for light trail riding.
The AM34 that I received seems normal for caliper mounting. I'm using non boost hubs with the 5mm axle spacers and a 5mm spcer behind the disc and it's lining up perfectly with caliper.
About the rebound knob, they should have a hollow lower design, so the knob is hidden, for the most part, that would protect it from a lot. Nice adapters are included. nothing wrong with them having spacers included. But strange they did not include a disc spacer too, as the disc spacer is needed to offset the disc to be close enough, keeping it with even spacers means the wheel does not have to be relished. but spacer for the disc is needed on a boost fork.
Wolfman and Tickboy! IDK why I had to comment that, it just popped up in my head lol. Like some kinda super hero comic book characters. I crack myself up sometimes...
If it anything like the manitou magnum then release all air and then pull stanchions out of the lowers as far as you can before pressurizing. With my magnum if you don’t do that it won’t extend past that point after it has air in it because the air chamber is in reverse from most other forks
Good video fellows - beer money went to a gray shirt ;-) ... when I get the shirt you all will get pics with finished bikes and shirt... hope that hanger is an easy find ... I recently did the same on my KHS and had to the write the company to get the part number cause there is about 3000 possible different derailleur hangers that it could have been....
AWESOME!! Cannot complain about that!! Looking forward to the pics for sure:) Thank you for buying a shirt and think I may have an extra hanger thingy!! LOL
Also, super weird for the wheel. I am getting a rockshox lyrik for my kona. I am so hyped for it. Even tho i messed around enough on my recon to make it perform really nicely, it's still doesn't hold up for my long bike parks days and even then i am sure it would have surprised many how smooth i manage to make it.
You have all the tools i believe to adjust the travel. I also believe these forks go all the way to the 160mm travel range. I know you bought them as 140s, but i think it was a factory mistake when sent.
We try to emulate the common beginner to intermediate non-mechanically inclined rider. Tearing into a fork undermines the ability to judge long term durability for the previously mentioned, and it also creates an excuse for companies to not care about the quality control of products leaving the factory and/or warehouse. These are the reasons we don't wan't to just start tearing into forks, besides people like Evan are much better than us with that kind of stuff, so we will leave it to him for now. Thanks for the confidence in us though👍.
10:27 maybe the fork has a negative chamber, and the air is trapped sucking the fork in. the symptoms are typical for this, fork going further down and getting stuck. but if the fork just dives while riding, you need to decrease rebound damping.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS just to be clear I meant a negative chamber Tha ti's not a completely seperate chamber, so a system like Fox, Rockshox uses for example. Gmbn has a video on it. I think inalreadfg shared it, the term is "suck down" I think. My Era fork has seperate chambers, seperate air valves just like the DNM shock. So far not many do this with forks only Ext, Formula i think. Rockshox did it in early 2000s and then eventually discontinued the idea, claiming its too complicated for many customers. I don't find it complicated.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS the fork might be leaking, have you checked that? If it's closed cartridges you are screwed unless it's only a loose valve core. If so try tightening it, and if it does not work it might need to be replaced. If that does not work it probably is air chamber that leaks. But I don't know if they put closed cartridges in or if this fork is possible to fully service. If I fork is leaking the fork basically is uslessnubtil it gets fixed. If they have closed cartridges you need to replace those, so send the fork back for fix, this would be a warranty case and done for free. But proper s forks don't have closed cartridges
I agree they should be sent at 140. Perhaps a mistake from the factory or just bad marketing. I wonder if anyone else that’s bought these has measured them and had similar results. Would be interesting to see a video of these taken apart to see how much they can really be adjusted.
Nice test guy's, It is weird that it don't have the travel it supposed to have but I think it may be a good fork for somebody who may think 140mm will be to much and 120mm to little so this can be a in-between fork? Hey what model fork pump you use? Thanks
Ha ha yes, middle of the road fork!! Lol now here is an affiliate link tot eh pump we use. It has bee solid, we actually need t km order another one👍👍amzn.to/3DiLGcP
I agree with you on the travel thing, if they sell it as 140mm it has to be actually 140mm, even if it's adjustable, they should list that too. they should have a manual on how to adjust it if it is adjustable travel. but really I suspect this fork is junk. I guess if you take it apart you can see if it's adjustable travel. but I don't have high hopes for it.
Hey I just bought the KRSEC XR34 which is exactly the same fork. Just the 120mm version, but 100mm effective travel. Was the Lutu 34 also very stiff in the beginning? My XR34 requires a lot of force to start moving. I already opened up the fresh fork, and relubed everything, but that doesn’t help.
Man they were not stiff at all....The fork had perfomed well thus far, but maybe the colder weather you are riding in possibly? We have noticed our forks here lately are moving weird and feeling a little more stiff?
Pro Rush derailleurs b screws break way too easy and I hate that the shifter doesn't have a positive click when downshifting. they are junk! I tried a Bucklos fork it had an incredible amount of stiction so I changed it out for a Suntour XCR 32 air .
Time to do an autopsy to see if there are any spacers inside eh? You seemed to bottom it out a lot though. But yes. The bars would be much less of a tooth extractor flipped over. Lol.
You're not wrong by not treating it as 140mm. It's 127mm if you forced it out with low, or no pressure. Now why it shrunk, was because at 34mm it's designed, squseme...it's winged at harder riding/heavier rider, thus it's negative coil spring i bet it has, is set for higher pressures, than your smaller stature requires. Because you don't use high enough air pressure, that coil spring sucks down the fork. It still might be travel adjustable with everything required included inside stanchion. Not everyone can do that adjustment, most shops in US will prolly refuse, but this fork requires greasing from factory anyway, so it's not for non-self-servicing riders anyway.
I was wondering on a side note have you thought about going to a 27.5 on the XR Pro to see if it fits better with your geometry instead of having it as a 29er. Thoughts?
We have not man, since we have the Ledge it really cuts that idea out. The XR Pro is big and the ground clearence is not the best, so it being a 27.5 dont think it would be very rideable. We have thought about a 29" swap on the Ledge though!
I'm really surprised by the performance of that shock, for the price. I really don't like those bars, though. It really seemed like it caused you to lean too far ahead, resulting in awkward landings and control. Out of curiosity, I wonder if they have a 120mm fork and you inadvertently received one. Probably not, but since it came in at 120mm, it makes me wonder.
Us too brother, the fork was good for the price and I would buy it again, making sure it was a 140!! Lol now the bars, those things are great! A little forward leaning but I will learn them soon enough. It took a min to feel them out, guess you could tell by the first feature I hit.
With my Bolany ZTZ Cheetahs fat fork, it makes a cool sound of air rushing out of the rebound valve knob when I compress the fork. Does the LUTU do that? I can't hear it in the video.
Yes sir, that usually happens when the rebound is set at a lower rate. I like the sound as well!! The Xfusion 34 Trace forks we have sound crazy cool when they do it!

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I think he would be happier with the Manitou forks running at 120mm with no spacer in it Sick Biker races XC. He ran the Manitou one season. No issues. Question. Would a large fit your short stature??? Lol Kidding "short stature" lol.
maybe they sent you the wrong fork, and it's not actually 140mm. but 140mm is great for most trails and some gnar, big roots, holes, 140mm is what I use for the most part if I go on some of the gnarlier trails.
Why would there be a sloth in Arkansas? That was just a ground hog. I would've scored the fork lower, not being a 140mm as advertised, then starting the ride at 127mm and ending at 120mm, that's just sketchy.
Hahaha, definitely not a sloth but a very chonky ground hog. Nice MacGruber skills with the zip ties to get you rolling again, Was that the stock pro rush derailleur that snapped?
that’s bs on the travel measurement being 120. even if it is adjustable, it should be advertised at the travel that it is set on from the factory. you should return it and ask them for a 140 model.
Seems like it might just be the ebay seller giving bogus info. Did you message Lutu or just the ebay user/seller? The affiliate link to that ebay seller has same product info as some aliexpress storefronts.. copy/pasted back and forth.

Jeremiah, I'm working with Bolany to rewrite their Amazon ad for their fat bike fork. I bought that fork from them (with the rebound adjustment) and I really like it, but the ad was barely legible, so I asked them if I could help make it sound more "American" and give more of the specs so there would be less questions. They like what I wrote and intend to use it, so maybe if the relationship blossoms, I can eventually get them to send you another one for demo.

Great REVIEW! I'm absolutely happy happy happy with my BUCKLOS. Nothing wrong with that MX. If it's advertised as 140 it should be 140. No ifs and or buts about it. ✌🤟👍
ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! Thanks Bamboozled, YOU ARE THE MAN!!Much love brother
BEST INTRO EVER!!!
Hahaha Thanks man!!
Another awesome video!!! Nice beginning and beautiful scenery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fork didn't seem to recover for you sometimes. If the stem height is higher would that make a difference for you with that bar? I liked the "accept it for what it is" comment regarding the forks. P.S. Nutrias are high in protein.
Thanks Al!! Though you would get a kickout of that intro:) WHISTLE PIG!! LOL And man it may play a little bit of a changeup if the steerer tube was longer, but man I wish you could try one, very COMFY! #NUTRIADIET
Nice that ledge x1 looks 😎
Much love brother, should be installing that budget $130 rear shock on it Friday!!
Well thank you! Wolfman totally agrees with you ans as do I, NEEDS TO BE 140!! Now man it feels good to be appreciated and review something were even old fat guys can get something out of it too!! LOL JUST KIDDING MAN:) Hope the humor comes across well!! HA HA Thank you and the fork really is pretty nice:) especially for the $$
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS lol you're good , brother 😆👍😊 But hey, I can still bench press more than I weigh, come within nine inches of a side split, and while it's not as pretty or controlled as it was 20 years ago I can still occasionally pull off a 360 degree jump spinning hook kick (I actually taught traditional Taekwondo for a living half of the month--drove long haul trucks the other half--for a decade after getting out of the Army in '95, but I've sat on my ass and smoked cigarettes for the last few years so...🤦♂️🤣)

Good vid, those trifox bars belong on my fixed gear road bike lol
Lol thank you brother, those bars are very nice! I kinda Dig Em!!

Whistlepig?😆👍
Just upgraded the groupset on my ledge and ended up changing out the wheels to fit. I'm curious and excited to see which parts you will be using.
Heck yeah man, now what size tires?? Also gonna install that new rear shock Friday (hopefully)
NICE:) We have been wanting to try the Bucklos Wheelset! Yeah for the bikes price we sure wish it was a freehub:(
Watching the fork travel I’d say it’s staying very low in its travel.
I agree it could be losing air. very likely if it feels softer as time passes.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I suspect it might be what TechJeeper mentioned too. as you discovered it holds air.
Good review I agree with wolf man 140 mm should be that not shorter good to see the wild life resting in the sun lol
Absolutely!! Now should of not messed up that WHISTLEPIG!!
Thanks👍
If you guys live in Arkansas, would love to see a few videos of a handful of your "upgraded" bikes taking on some the prime trails in Bentonville.
They live 2 hours or so from there . Maybe later they can go
We hear you man, but Northwest Arkansas gets a ton of attention and we like to promote our more local River Valley and Central Arkansas trails. Mt. Nebo was featured on BKXC and Brian thought very highly of it himself. We will eventually venture out a little more when we have the time to travel. Remember though neither one of us are very good riders, just mediocre TH-camrs😜.

So happy to see ya brother, thanx👍

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I quality control intumescent coatings.
Gotcha, somehow I think I knew that?? LOL
Absolutely agree man, I hope they come to? Dont know false hope I guess lol. I do like them on that bike though👍
Wow. That mongoose seems very capable. Even with a cheap fork.
Def is(except the derailleur) LOL
9:19 the B screw is not even on the rear derailleur hanger platform. I am not surprised this happens.
Yes....
The AM34 that I received seems normal for caliper mounting. I'm using non boost hubs with the 5mm axle spacers and a 5mm spcer behind the disc and it's lining up perfectly with caliper.
And the exposed stanchions are at 141.9 on the one I received. I think they sent you some badly assembled parts bin error Frankenstein!
Nice, thanks for the input that is interesting..
FRANKENSTEIN FOR SURE!! Actually we do need to update everyone on these too:)
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS my guess is they used the wrong damper and it’s too short .
9:02 i love when the country ho-down TickGuyver music comes on!! That’s when you know its gonna be good!
Ha ha def a ho down!! Lol also that plays all the time in real life too😂😂😂
About the rebound knob, they should have a hollow lower design, so the knob is hidden, for the most part, that would protect it from a lot.
Agree, I would even take a rockshox fork style rebound in place of this one!! LOL
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS yea the hallow one yes. Agree. My Ext Era has similar design to those.
👍
Wolfman and Tickboy! IDK why I had to comment that, it just popped up in my head lol. Like some kinda super hero comic book characters. I crack myself up sometimes...
Hey man sometimes you got to just let it out🤣👍👍.
I’m about to order the trifox handlebar
Man, I like it very much, just not for jumping lol.
If it anything like the manitou magnum then release all air and then pull stanchions out of the lowers as far as you can before pressurizing. With my magnum if you don’t do that it won’t extend past that point after it has air in it because the air chamber is in reverse from most other forks
Thank you man, we are GOING TO DO THAT!!
Really interested in what the manufacturer has to say about the travel on this fork.
US TOO!! I dont think they sent us a wrong one:( I think its a dud
Dude very strange but new fork on the kona huh?? Dude let us know how you dig it!! Thanks Sim Dude
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS i will :D still nees to wait as the brake post mount size is different so i need different adaptator.
Gotcha:)
Was that a Pro Rush groupset?? My B adjuster broke on mine too...New Bike Day!! LOL
Ha ha Yes!! What do you have in mind??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Fox 34s cost 1000 bucks. I understand your direction, but if these actually are 34s damper then the world should know.
@wolftick I’d love to see you do a build/review on a Gravity FSX 2.0
Man that is an interesting bike! Never seen it?? Also not a bad idea or price:) Thanks man
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I have one and am curious on how it stacks up in more capable hands
You mean you had to “TickGuyver” that thang!
🤣🤣🤣 ABSOLUTELY MAN!! A little pit stop action lol.
That was funny as heck👍🏼🤣 gotta love that JD fanny pack!
10:27 maybe the fork has a negative chamber, and the air is trapped sucking the fork in. the symptoms are typical for this, fork going further down and getting stuck. but if the fork just dives while riding, you need to decrease rebound damping.
No negative air chamber, just not 140mm. I am hoping if we remove all air and pull apart then fill maybe it will bounce back?? What do you think?
Yeah that’s what I commented on last video. Maybe have Kevin open that fork up?
Gotcha, funny we have seen Bolany forks with a negative Air chamber:) NEED TO TRY!! LOL
I agree they should be sent at 140. Perhaps a mistake from the factory or just bad marketing. I wonder if anyone else that’s bought these has measured them and had similar results. Would be interesting to see a video of these taken apart to see how much they can really be adjusted.
Man we may have to send them to Evans MTB Saga:) Hope we can air them up once more and see if they make the 140mm MARK!!
Hayes did it! (Rockshox). The electronic shocks are out!
DUDE!! Gotta look that up:)

Nice test guy's, It is weird that it don't have the travel it supposed to have but I think it may be a good fork for somebody who may think 140mm will be to much and 120mm to little so this can be a in-between fork? Hey what model fork pump you use? Thanks

Hey Wolftick, any update on the Lutu 34?
How is it holding up? Any signs of wear?
Hey brother, holding up fine:) No signs of wear and man it actually took a NASTY air session when I crashed reviewing the GROUPSET!!
Definitely seems like one of the better knockoff forks definitely a bit weird but solid hopefully
Agree man, it seems good but really would like the 140!! Lol
ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! HOW DUMB!!
Hey
I just bought the KRSEC XR34 which is exactly the same fork.
If you guys end up road tripping into the bay area. I have some bikes you can borrow to do a review!
Man that would be great! Thank you Nazih, nice to see ya man
Pro Rush derailleurs b screws break way too easy and I hate that the shifter doesn't have a positive click when downshifting. they are junk! I tried a Bucklos fork it had an incredible amount of stiction so I changed it out for a Suntour XCR 32 air .
Gotcha man, they STINK!! Gotta patch this one with some part form another, then changeout completely!!
Time to do an autopsy to see if there are any spacers inside eh? You seemed to bottom it out a lot though. But yes. The bars would be much less of a tooth extractor flipped over. Lol.
Ha ha need too! Maybe ship em to Evan🤣🤣
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Who is Evan?
Gotcha man, it makes sense. Appreciate the lengthy explanation man. Hope to see you around more Mr.Polish!!
What would be a good fork for a schwinn sidewinder
Hmmm.......maybe a 26er x fusion enix? They were in stock not that long ago...
Did you feel that the fork was performing different by the end of the ride?
Did not actually, it did look a little different but was fine at the bottom.
I bought a set similar and it said 140mm travel then later after purchasing I read down further 120mm push down ,something to that meaning anyway
What a scam!! It was a bummer but we got money back.
