    My name is Jens Larsen, Danish Jazz Guitarist, and Educator. The videos on this channel will help you explore and enjoy Jazz. Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.
    The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

    This stuff is GOLD ! Everyone should write down the techniques used in this video and apply them to their own playing. One of my old teachers used to say 'Jazz is not a what - it's a HOW !' So true. Thanks Jens :)

    I've been working on my own lick recently, but it lacked phrasing. Now I know to start working on my phrasing! Thanks Jens.

    So you’re playing an Fmaj7 arp over the Dm7? Why is that?

    • @hayleycomet8029
      @hayleycomet8029 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The FM7 has 3 chord tones from Dm7 F,A,C and the E is the 9th of Dm7 so it's basically a Dm9 arpeggio

    ive been learning major 7 arpeggios and was wondering how people choose notes that sound good from the arpeggios when they improvise. do you have any tips?

    • @mika-rawr

      ive been noodling around with the shapes and playing over chord changes but something about what i play sounds plain

  • @james123810

    Hi Jens, great stuff, but I´m not shure wether your notation is correct: Is the leading note after the triplet really on the beat? The thriller with leading note could be four 1/16-notes.

    • @JensLarsen
      @JensLarsen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are reading the 16th note triplets as 8th note triplets by mistake? the leading note is before the beat, and you can hear that because the resolution is clearly on the downbeat.
