I’m in my 60s and have been watching the Grammy awards since the early 1970s. I don’t recall ever seeing such an amazing and over the top performance at the Grammys as this “mic drop” performance of Butter. If you are in the US and didn’t know BTS…now you do.

To me it feels like they're not even holding back that much. They're clearly expressing that they were disappointed, but that is not the full picture. You didn't watch the whole show but BTS really won that night even though they weren't awarded. Their performance stole the night, and it has been ranked the best of the night by multiple publications, 13th best in the history of Grammys according to Billboard. Rolling Stone tweeted that watching BTS just talk together was one of the best parts of the night. So many big publications are praising them. They had a segment with Trevor Noah, the host, where he sat down with them and talked with them in front of the whole audience and all those celebrities - doesn't happen often. The ad breaks were like meet and greets for BTS, everyone was taking pictures with them and all these celebs have been proudly posting them online. Their performance got a standing ovation from all those industry people. Them doing all that and being the talk of the town and then not winning just made everyone see that they were snubbed and that was the Grammys' mistake. Jon Batiste, the biggest winner of the night, posted a video hanging out with V over dinner and Taehyung posted some pics too. SO many locals that haven't given BTS a chance before were blown away by their performance and are asking ARMYs for information about them and their music. The Grammys themselves used BTS as a marketing tool because they know BTS is the most in demand. They even advertised their performance as the top show of the night. So, really BTS won the night, and everyone knows that. They're onto their four sold out stadium shows next, for which the Grammy arena is a live theater for those that don't fit in the stadium 🤭 So maybe they didn't win and that's obviously a disappointment because they really wanted it, and like RM said it was framed like they were gonna win. But they really enjoyed the performances and had their first solo stage in front of all those industry people - that obviously feels very different than when they filmed Dynamite from Seoul. So they really enjoyed it and everyone loved them, so the loss is not as bad. I feel like we were less mad this year on twitter too, bc a lot of people actually love Doja and she has defended BTS before. And also we were really not expecting much now that we know what the Grammys are, even though there was hope of course.

The fact that they lost but still gave shoutouts to Doja Cat, grammys production crews, and the event was meaningful for them because this is their first single live performance at grammys & gave their BIG performance are just🤧💖💖 these are why we stan humble kingss!
I also love how they were being open about their thoughts for the whole thing. Despite their disappointments, they seem to still trying to figure out how grammys evaluate the winners. Is it because Butter isn't as consistent as other pop hits in the charts despite the fact it was #1 for multiple weeks? Is it because Butter dropped fast? Is it because Butter was not played as much on the local radio thruout US? Is it because Butter not fully composed by them? Is it because only Joon who is one of the writers of Butter? Is it because they lack of strong backing yet with grammys? Idk. I'm just as bitter as Jimin knowing they didn't win, but I'm still curious about these possible factors behind them losing. And I bet them and their PDs must've noticed these as well. So... whether they decide to try grammy next year or not, I'll always support them!💜
p.s. for some reason I feel like even grammys production crews might not expected BTS would lose, that's why they gave them grand closing for tannies? I mean- the one who knows the winners of these awards are only the grammys' music committees right? or was I too naive having hope as such?lol. Anyway, BTS took over grammys and show them all how a proper Pop Duo/Group PERFORMANCE (not 'song' but 'performance') SHOULD BE FOR 2 YEARS IN A ROW. bye
So true. I wasn't as angry like last year surprisingly. Its more like curious and wondering why they didn't win. But I'm still proud and satisfied that they finally could perform in person.

The Grammys need to be revamped, overhauled to realize that BTS deserved to win ! The word Class is spelled as B-T-S.
After reading some Accusations of racial bias in Grammy’s, I now have a better understand on what to expect going forward. Many artists (including Diana Ross) were nominated and re-nominated, but never won, until they were old and received a ‘Lifetime Achievement Grammy.
So perhaps Grammy’s are not ready to bring a KPop group into the Grammy world. Yes they will nominate and re-nominate, use their talents and popularity, but not award a win. It’s time to for BTS to make decision that are best for BTS and HYBE?
The Spectrum reported: “Major artists have boycotted the Grammy award ceremony. Progressive, popular artists are abandoning the Grammys, looking for new platforms, which leaves the award show powerless with scraps of music. If the Grammys don’t change their award system and their leadership, one of the most important popular awards ceremonies might come to an end”.

I loved Min Yoongi's comment, their main focus is their concert, they just stop by the grammys. His so Savage and the Cutest. Love him so much. They all never loss their ground and always so humble and more worried about Armys and all the people that work with them feelings then their own feelings. I know they feel sad about not winning but life have shown them how to deal with what ever comes their way, that's why they are bullet proof. They been thru so much and still keep their cool. I love them so much. And like RM said "If we loss it's OK because the most important thing is that we have you (Army) and we will always be by their side supporting them in the good times and specially in their bad times.
It might be a real blessing that they have these concerts so soon after. Hopefully, it will put things in perspective and they'll see ARMY who loves them and connect to the real people who love them. If they didn't have anything after... maybe they would get more down about it. Like it or not, it's part of their journey, right? what else? 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💜💜💜Fighting! And yes, SOOO proud of them, they were amazing!

Their are a lot of artists who keep getting nominations and never won till they down right stop attending. Shame has made the Grammys, Emmys, Oscars give some lifetime achievement awards. When Eminem spoke about the Grammys might have sounded harsh, even distasteful, like he was bitter to some . But he spoke FACTS. I am satisfied with their performance they delivered and that performance will go down in the books. As they continue to make wave and global impact Grammys or not BTS will be a force to reckon with, will be in the books among the greatest.
Last year they gave a Grammy to a director/producer and he was like "they are give this award to just anyone now." lol
These shows are just using artists and say they care but they don't care at all.

I thought the category was always pop duo/group, but it is not always presented in the televised ceremony?? Anyway, there should be separate categories: Best group performance, and Best Pop Duo
life is unfair for sure....you can work very hard, have the best songs, choreos, the best team behind you but when you are in front of a so narrow minded industry specially with the grammys those things happen, honestly I was mentally prepared for the guys not win, not because of them since I know that THEY DESERVE IT OF COURSE! but the grammys are not ready to give an "american" grammy to a non- american group or artist ( at least not from Asia) I felt bad, dissapointed just like the guys but at the same time I feel proud of them, they took it like the champions they are, they keep it positive and were the Kings of the night with the best performance and as usual all the eyes of the artists were on them...without winning a single grammy they were the kings of the night!

I want to commend all the boys for the amazing job. Especially Jin! He managed to be on the loop and dance at the end eventhough I know he is uncomfortable. BTS are professionals!
When Jimin downed that first glass of champagne, RM said that the food was comforting and Yoongi's face showing it all I knew something was up , that they were not 100% ok...
I feel they really thought they would win this time with all the sitting positions, their bosses coming over, their first live performance there... I don't know, it was all like getting them ready for it. But no, not this time either. Disappointment, a big undeserved snub. That must hurt. It hurts me. But hey, we are there for them. We know where quality lies.

And Jin also, He was silent as well. The boys had to bring him into the converstaion so many times. Zoned out so much. JK and Tae seem to be taking it okay. I hope they will be back to their forms with the concerts 😘

The video that you are referring to “even in slow motion” showed the card that V threw fell on the floor. Even if they put a circle to “somewhat” focus our attention to that it seemingly went straight to JK. REWIND it again and do yourself a favor. You will see he has the card all along. It's highly disappointing b/c they were clearly the people who should have won not only this year, but last year as well. They think they can do more and work harder, but that's the infuriating bit because they are labelled a "boy band" the Academy won't respect them enough to give it to them. I was calm Sunday night but the more time goes on, the more pissed off I am.

Thanks for sharing this reaction, DT. Their performance was spectacular - I didn't notice J-Hope's stumble until someone mentioned it. No glitch would reduce what I saw. I love hearing that they were able to be "connected" even when spread across the stage/audience, by their in-ear sets. I agree that Namjoon, Suga, and Jimin seemed the most disappointed. I wish I could have given them AN award. Once-time "duos" should not be in the same category with established groups. I think that that category combo is unfair to established groups. Then again, I heard from another BTS reactor that the winning song is popular, and Namjoon said it is popular in [South] Korea, too. So shrug, I'll look forward to your reaction to the Las Vegas show. Take care and enjoy! 💜
Not only didn't they hv enuff time to practice, they also had very little opp to practice all together! JHope's stumble fr wich he very deftly recovered is perfectly understandable, i doubt he had much opp to really get use to the height of that step. Despite the disadvantages, they delivered the night's most electrifying performance, now is that an incredible feat or what? Only BTS can achieve that & the grammies are truly despicable scrammies!

The fact remains which is BTS want a Grammy, even if Armies are calling it Scammy and all type of words, yes it's unfair to BTS but they are not the first artists to be victims of this behavior cause Grammy has nominated a lot of artists several times and not given them awards before. They worked hard, enjoyed performing and even mentioned the winner thats how incredible and humble BTS are.
We believed whatever they says because we know that they are very hardworking.
Top duo is not evn a major category bt they put it at the last of the ceremony to hold armys hostage😏 They snubbed Doja everywhere and gave her top duo so they could snub BTS. I used to watch The Grammy's a lot because, I believed it was honest and fair. Then I woke up and found out it was all about politics. (Who you know (connections) and the academy members). So I stopped watching The Grammy's. I only watched if someone from my country was nominated in the hope that they would win.
Then BTS was there (since I started liking Korean music during Seo Taiji and Boys) I started watching again. I had hoped that (but not expected) The Grammy's changed their attitude and that the people who are a member of the academy etc would have become honest etc so that BTS would have had a fair chance of winning but, NO The Grammy's are still living up to their nickname Scammy/Shammy's.
The Grammy's have absurd reasons why good musicians/performers are not receiving a Grammy. Look at Dream Theater (prog metal) they received their first Grammy after so many years and the reason the was that their music was too long. In the acceptance speech Dream Theater said that. I respect them for calling The Grammy's out. Ridiculous!! I expect the reason for BTS not being able to win a Grammy is also for some stupid/ridiculous reason.
I respect all musicians for their hard work even if some of them aren't my cup off tea.
I was happy that RM Suga JHope Jin Junkook V Jimin had the chance to perform and they should be proud of themselves!!!!
One of reason (out of many) why I like RM Suga JHope Jin Junkook V Jimin is they are very humble and down to earth.
I also like other type of music and watch other reactors too. Thereis one reactor who used to be on working on a radiostation and explained that the DJ's are not free to play what they like but, have to promote what the "boss" from the radiostation tells them to play and by playing certain musicians every hour (due to reputition) people are starting to like it. Now he has his own TH-cam reaction channel he is discovering musicians and is saying: "why didn't I hear about this band before". Since it is his own TH-cam reaction channel he can decide what to react on, he is discovering so many new musicians. So he's basically saying don't only listen to the radiostations because, they are preventing you from discovering so many more equally good or even better music/musicians.
So I'm so happ that you DT Parker are here and because, you really like BTS you are helping BTS and your favorite Jimin!

In my country The Netherlands the radiostations/tvstations are disrespectful towards BTS and K-pop in general. They think and act that BTS'S songs etc are only for little children. Isn't that ridiculous???? Will a 3 year old understand the world's from certain songs like for example; Springday, NO, Am I Wrong etc understand? Also singing while dancing isn't as easy as it looks! So on the Dutch TV stationsthey never invited BTS in an adult music program etc. They only talk about that they are surprised that people like BTS'S music. (with so called experts).
So in the western world of music BTS is still fighting against prejudice/discrimination etc. I liked BTS from the beginning eventough I'm 62 because, BTS are storyteller's with real messages and feelings in their songs and with their dances they ad to their lyrics etc.
I'll stop now because, it's already a long story and there are so many reasons why I respect and like each member equally vfor each member's unique quality and personality. I hope that BTS will always stay good friends and that they will never forget that the Seven of them are strong together.

I know they all were dissapointed but what HIT me very hard that HOBI is silent whole time usually that not happen he is always cheerful and happy no matter what happens but this time he really look super sad and it's kind of piss me off😭. To be very honest I knew this thing might gonna happen but when I saw Hobi's sad face I feel the same way even though I know Grammy's always unfair with them😩😕
I agree.They are all bummed they didn't win. I am of course confused, because no one is better at performing than BTS. I like Doja Cat, "Kiss me more" is a bop & they were very gracious towards her, but "BUTTER" is a Juggernaut! And I never once saw Doja perform "KISS ME MORE" I must have seen them perform "Butter" 20 times! And the Grammys performance was. SIIIICK!
What do our guys have to do to get some respect from the Grammys?!!

Kudos to BTS for how they are handling this situation. I actually appreciate their being honest about how they feel, that has been their modus operandi, but also being able to move on. However, there is a real limit to how long they can continue in their present configuration. Mandatory military service is imminent, plus just the physical dance moves can only be maintained so long (body breaks down before the voice). If they really want a Grammy, they/HYBE needs to take the time to understand how the Grammy process works, as a commenter has stated. Depending on that, do they want to change to win a Grammy, or do they want to be BTS whatever its future will look like.

BTS deserve to win the grammy.I didn't know what happen.
Staring in 2012 , they put 3 awards into one award called best duo/group performance, those 3 awards are best collabration, best duo/group and best instrument , the judges listen to the songs only, it says this on the Grammys official website and NO GROUP or INSTRUMENTAL has won.
I mean, of course they were down about not winning. It's not ok. But what can you do? It's only so much they can do against this prejudice. You gotta keep it pushing.
I just discovered today that YT has 0.25x playback speed 😂 and so to challenge also my skepticism about the whole card trick, which I thought of to be similar to the bulletproof trick I repeatedly watched one fancam for 50 times at 0.25x speed and he did catch it. He did seem to have caught it at the right side of the table. 🍵
From one angle it seemed like he actually caught it at the right side of the table. And I found another fancam taken from a different angle to challenge this, JK actually slowly turned around, slipped his right hand inside the left side of his coat then quickly placed his right arm behind him. 🃏 present. So it is most likely similar to the bulletproof trick. Case closed. 🍵
