On my model railway every year since 2020 for July 4th, I always run a mockup of the American Freedom Train with the finest engines in my collection. In 2020 it was 630, in 2021 it was 4501, in 2022, it was 5448, and in 2023 it’s ACL 1525 and N&W 943 at the head.
Suggestion: for 2026, if you can get them, run it with one of the three original Freedom Train engines (Reading 2101, SP 4449 and T&P 610) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Train.
I've had the privilege of sitting in the cab of T&P 610 located at the Texas State Railroad. The first time I saw 610 I immediately recognized it as having pulled the Freedom Train when it came to Mobile, AL. I was told 610 didn't pull the train outside of Texas but I'm positive it was 610 that came to Mobile.
I’m not exactly sure abt this but I feel like you might be confusing 610 for 2101. 2101 again took charge of the AFT from 4449 at Birmingham before switching again with Daylight in DC.
I wish I could have seen the Freedom Train in action. Of course my favorite steam engine that pulled the Freedom Train has to be the Texas and Pacific 610
The red white and blue Freedom Train steam locomotive sits outside the B&O railroad museum in Baltimore. Go see her, and about 50 others. World’s best train museum.
Thank you- I was able to see this wonderful train when it was in the Boston RR yard (which is now buildings) - we didn't have the 4449 up here but the number 1 because of the track. Did you know that after the conclusions 4449 became a movie star back in the original Daylight colors, but the road name was Changed to the "Coast Star" I believe in Disney's Adult Company ( Touchstone) in the movie Toughguys!!! Happy fourth of July and God Bless America! We need all the help we can get!!!

The freedom was a fine train, The toughest that world has seen. Her whistle blows for Liberty, With a mighty head of steam. Wheels Sported theough the sweaty fields of Pittsburgh, And rolled across the Mississip' From Texas To Missouri, For one Real exciting trip, The BANG the track was broken, Smashed by a cannonball, With the Blue And Gray Divided, Will the nation Stand 'Er fall? All aboard America Here comes the freedom train, All aboard America, here coooomes the freedom train. When Honest Dave stepped in the cab, And the wheels began to roll, The Freedom train was never stopped, The rebublic never folds, Through the Bloody Fields of Gettysburg, Tears shone in his eyes, He drove the train with fury, And the Freedom Train Survived. And Again, the train rolled westward, To California Shores, Through the deserts and the Praries, Even Stronger than Before, From Atlanta to Mississippi, She rolled the rails with pride, She travelled along the tracks, With the good lord on her side. All aboard America Here comes the freedom train, All aboard America, here coooomes the freedom train There's much more to this story, Like Wilson And Roosevelt. They left the train with Truman, Who stoked it mighty well, And Dwight D. Eisenhower, And LGBK sang, And 2 brothers known as Giddidenne, and Martin Luther King. And still the train rolls forward, Over History's rugged trail. Straightened by the Journey, And the Land beneath the rails. And You & I roll along, Stroked with the freedom fire, For we stand all "Americans All!" Though honor can be hired. All aboard America Here comes the freedom train, All aboard America, here coooomes the freedom train. (Harmonica) The end. Happy (Late) 4th of July America!
You've got a bit of that wrong. #611 was chosen for Promotional Art and a possible Candidate to haul the Freedom Train, but the AFT never got the rights to the 611.
@@CJStheartist Yeah, no restoration work was ever done on 611 until NS Got it in 1982. 611's feature was just promotional and theoretical, same with 759's promotional designs.
Where is find Southern Pacifc 4449 & Texas and Pacific 610 ( in American Freedom train livery or not American Freedom train livery) and American Freedom train rolling stocks

She'll soon have a proper engineer back behind the throttle.

Fun fact: N&W #611 was supposed to pull the American freedom train, but they couldn't fire it up in time so they used #4449 from the southern pacific

9/11/01
If you can't tell what that date is (which you prob can) It's September 11th 2001
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954
That’s where it’s wrong, sometimes they still do, they probably didn’t know it’s old.
