One of my favorite memories was meeting David Lynch outside the RR diner at midnight in North Bend, WA during the filming of season 3. He was kind enough to say hello, shake my hand, and sign my Twin Peaks box set. This creative genius owed me nothing, but took a moment to make a fan feel special while the world waited. I floated back to the car and still feels surreal to this day. Rest in peace maestro.
Lynch is the person who taught me to NEVER care what other people think of you. If you make art, and people hate it, it’s okay. The most important part of art is that you tried, you accomplished it, and you achieved something, and there’s always people out there who will like it. He was a fierce, uncompromising auteur who just simply wanted to do things that he specifically thought were cool. Love him or not, you gotta give the guy credit for unflinchingly putting himself into everything he did and loving every moment of the process because it was him. I’m genuinely shattered by his passing, just because no other artist ever showed that “be yourself” attitude quite like him. Every artist out there should indeed learn from him. Unless your goal is specifically to make a shit-ton of money, just make the art you in every way possible. Here’s a toast of black coffee to him. You’ll be missed forever, Lynch ❤️
Making art for other people is not art. It's business. Lynch made art for Art's sake, not the sake of business and sales. Real recognize real even if it is messed up beyond recognition
He was one of America's greatest directors and one of it's most sublime artists. He had been in ill health but now he is free of all that. Thank you Mr Lynch for bringing so much into our lives.
One of my greatest heroes, whose surreal, strange worlds resonated with something deep inside me. He leaves a void that can never be filled. Rest in peace, David!
I think I was in shock yesterday. I posted some images on Instagram as my way of paying tribute to him. I was going through the motions and picking pictures that resonated with me. This morning I finally cried. Such is grief and such is life. I hope you’re okay.
Finally a real tribute, not some stupid news coverage with commentary. Today is a very very sad day, I will be rewatching all his work this next month. RIP
He made so many of us realize the true power of cinema. He made us feel feelings we've never felt before, or forgot what they felt like. His power and reach as an artist is immesurable. He was one of the greatest of all eternity.
An absolute original. His view of the world, spoken through film, spanned the spectrum from absolutely beautiful to unspeakably grotesque, and everything in between.
My heart is broken with Lynch’s passing, i think his presence was a unique and constructive power in cinema and art world, such a genuine soul. Thank you for your legacy Lynch, i hope it’ll be appreciated as it should. Rest in the White Lodge.
Genuinely shed a tear for this man because nobody will ever come close to his energy, his talent and his creativity again. Go enjoy your coffee & donuts Mr Lynch, thank you for everything. Rest in peace ☕️🍩💔
Love Dune, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive. Life isn't spoon fed to us and neither was the world of Lynch's movies. Good night, sweet prince.
I can now say that I loved a man whom I never met, yet toward whom felt such a surreal, strong connection. Mr Lynch, wherever you are, you have saved me when I thought life was hopeless. You have shown me what true art really is. It might very well be about something, but it doesn't have to. We shouldn't feel compelled to say something, do things one way, stay focused all the time, rational, awake. We should be allowed to dream.
When a true visionary artist passes..any discipline..the breadth of the loss is actually felt personally..even though you don't personally know them or they you. It's felt as something bigger gone that can never be brought back. David Lynch was that
He was a great man. A true artist, and especially rare because he didn’t have to compromise his vision for the sake of making a living. He could have done that, and probably made a lot more money, but he refused. A great man.
Lynch was my favorite filmmaker. He was like an artistic father to me. I burst out into tears when I heard he died. I love him. He was a beautiful man and artist. Such a wonderful creator. Mullholand Drive, Lost Highway, Inland Empire, The Elephant Man are my favorite movies. He also did such beautiful and eerie work with his paintings, music, sculptures... Man, I will miss him a lot.
this is so heartbreaking. One of the best filmmaker and one of the most original artist of all time and most of all, what a beautiful kind soul. Rest in Peace, David. We love you.
Hi David, you have finally abandoned this dystopian reality and have awakened in a higher plane where you can spread your teachings even in this new level. thanks for being here ♥️
Greatest of all time. David opened up my eyes as a young man to the possibilities of cinema. I was obsessed with Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive is my favorite movie of all time.
Couldn't stop sobbing... like if he was a beloved family member. I'd be everlastingly grateful to you for making me forget while I watch your masterpieces, that I had so many years in confinement. Rest in power absolut legend 💙🌌💙🌌💙✨
Man, this really hurts… I’d be praying for just one more film from the maestro, but alas he has transcended to greener, more appropriately surreal pastures. We’ll miss you Dave! 🙏💙
I think the last time I felt this genuinely defeated from a celebrity death was Robin Williams. He was a true visionary, and he never once compromised his vision. And you can tell in every interview he had, he was just overwhelmingly in love with the art medium that was cinema.. There will never be another like him in our lifetimes and that void is painfully obvious. Keep on being dreamy.. Keep on seeing those wonderful blue skies. R.I.P. David Lynch.
Am thankful I have seen Lynch’s Works. Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive had a strong impact looking at my life. Thank you Mr. Lynch. It matters to me.
A powerful and impactful film maker. Only recently found out they'd made a season 3 of Twin Peaks so watched the whole show again from start to finish. Despite the very long hiatus season 3 was every bit as weird and wonderful as season 1. RIP David, we salute you.
One time I had an experience with some very strong recreational hallucinogens, which ultimately made me become a much more spiritual person. It was an experience that changed my life for the better. What I saw then, my visions, were of Twin Peaks! Thank you, you absolute madman and genius
David Lynch was also a musical composer, writing music not only for his films but for general release. A fine, original, creative artist who advanced the style of surrealism in American film. R.I.P. He is missed but he left a fine body of work for the living.
Difficult as life is in so many ways, all the time, he seemed, at least to be living a life that he wanted to be living most of the time. That in itself is a tremendous achievement. RIP, hero.
He had a stunning eye and a wonderful ear. Unique hardly covers it , but unique he was. Mulholland Drive will always be one of my top five movies of all time. I hope Twin Peaks comes round again as well as his films. There will never be another artist like David Lynch.
I havent amounted to anything in my life when it comes to the arts, and while it may not seem like it, this artist had a beyond outstanding influence on my interpretation and subconscious translations of great art and culture. This news really hits me right in the gut. Rip!!!
Rest in peace David The man had a talent for making such surreal movies He didn’t have to explain everything which was part of his craft Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Muholland Drive, and Eraserhead One of the most prestigious filmmakers will be forever missed
You couldn't see his art or film without being changed....Mysterious, often disturbing, often twisted and profane, then the breath taking glimses of heavenly beauty...humorous and heartbreaking... this could be said about his art and film....but this was David Lynch ...his vision, ...In life... and "In Dreams"
one of the few celebrity deaths that actually crushed me. Rest in power, David Lynch. Your art lives forever.
Rest in Peaks David ❤
I'm here with you
Bro he was old. Now, creators are compelled to catch up. The spirit thrives.
Same, absolutely gutted
Hit me in my gut like a baby's first kick, it hurt me.
He's in the white lodge now. Thank you for everything
Huh?!!

Not just an original artist, an original person. One of a kind, totally unique, singular human being. We love you. In dreams, we’ll talk to you.
Do not commune with the dead.
@vroomvreew rubbish
@vroomvreew who said he is dead. I’m certain that his spirit remains very much Alive.
This is messed up, but I’ve been talking to him in my head ever since I found out he left this dimension.

RIP David, you had true moral courage.

But the first paragraph is self contradicted.
He was a great artist though.
