  • Welcome back, everyone! In today's video we head out to start our last trip of the season. When fishing into November you start to get some pretty chilly windy days, making fishing difficult. But in the end its still a beautiful day, and its tough to beat a day on the water.
    Thanks for watching!

    Guy's Thank You for the video!!! 👏👏 It's getting close to being done. I appreciate you sharing your adventures with us over this past year. It is amazing how much has changed in a year with the addition of a new vessel and the work that you have put into it. You still have to fill your quota and run a business. My hats off to all of you!!!!

    My Dad was a workaholic perfectionist. None of us could ever do anything right enough, but we found our own jobs and careers because we wanted to stay and share the work when it came and avoid the yelling etc. He was still a good man but he didn't want anyone sharing the work load. As he got older he began to mellow and we were finally able to work without the anger. He passed away last November on the 30th. I miss every day without him. These good folks are pretty darned amazing!

    I like the fact EIS shares the good fishing trip & the not so good fishing trip. To me, that adds more of a human element to your videos. Anyone who has done fishing commercially or recreationally, knows everyday is a different day on the water. For me, (and I'm sure for others) your videos are both entertaining and inspirational. God bless.

      Well said, Lou! Its not always hot and heavy, and when it is it rarely lasts. There is a lot of monotony while fishing in general, but the slow times certainly make you appreciate the good times. Thanks for always commenting and watching!

    12:20 that's a very tidy deck space! You run a tight ship 👌

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! We hate when there's a bunch of clutter on a deck.
      The boom sticking out is a stabilizer pole and attached to it is the stabilizer fish. When its rough out the boat rolls back and forth, the fish has to pull out through the water and the resistance slows our rolls significantly. I think we've mentioned how it works in a few videos, but no dedicated videos on it.
      We touch on it briefly in this one: th-cam.com/video/hFMrw6JTHJQ/w-d-xo.html

    • @EISAlaska

      That is to discourage birds from diving on the bait and accidentally getting caught.

    18:38 what is that boom for sticking out off of the boat and what is it dragging in the water? Thanks andy👍

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, they are stabilizer poles. One on each side of the boat at midships. The line going into the water has a downrigger the exerts downward force as the vessel moves through the water. Because of the length it transfers an incredible amount of force slowing the roll of the vessel and making traveling and drifting/ anchoring much more pleasant.

      Technically, our jig fisheries for cod and rockfish are still open, however the weather is not very accommodating this time of year. We will probably wait to fish until the Tanner crab opener in mid January.

    Is that line setting on the bottom?

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, the anchor holds each end securely to the bottom, and keeps the set from drifting. The mainline is leaded which helps it sink and stay on bottom.
