Superb. The Mike Yarwood Christmas show, December 25th 1978. Mike was the brilliant undisputed king of the mimics whilst ABBA were quite simply the biggest band in the world. Watched this as an eleven year old lad - whose hormones were being sent raging into puberty by Agnetha and Frida..!! Great stuff, wonderful memories.
British tea time TV in the late 70s. Well, it was after tea, as in the evening meal, but we would have had more tea and biscuits when watching this probably around 9pm. Very relaxing. Nice, cheery entertainment before Abba have even sung. Everything is so serious now. Now we have what passes for sophisticated humour. And it's dull. Maybe if we went back to the time before even mere video could be recorded at home, TV entertainers would seriously think more about their art: but one chance to leave an imprint on people's minds! When we talked about it at school or work the next day. Abba's appearance here was, I believe, in early Christmas of 1978.
I believe this was on Christmas day on BBC 1 my mum dad and brother was watching it while I was watching the TV premiere of Diamonds are Forever on ITV on my brand new portable B\W TV
Anyone else notice how bjorn tries to grab agnethas hand at 0:16 and she refuses, then he quickly smiles and waves at the audience to hide it! I think they were close to divorce here lol.
@@snakebitepellehue Yeah, i noticed now that it looks like 1978 if you look at Frida's hair. Didn't Björn and Agnetha divorced at the end of 1978? I'm not really sure but that's what i heard and read. So they were definitely close to divorcing in that video.
Was the colors of purple and blue (that Agnetha and Anni-Frid) a precursor to what they would wear on the 1979 tour with them wearing those Chinese themed dresses?

those were kinda just the colours they always wore if they were to wear that colour scheme.
Too bad this wasn't on "The Tonight Show" because it would of been doubleably funny if it had been Johnny Carson cracking jokes with ABBA.
