They are Aqua rather than Rock for a similar reason Sprigguns should have been Pyro rather than Machine: the latter aren't actually robots or the like but soot spirit, these aren't just natural rocks but living organisms and soil infected by a rot so you might see them as the creatures from Tribe-infecting Virus. So it makes more sense, and it also opens to more original builds rather than just being a new engine for Rock Pile imo.
hoping this leads to some support cards for aqua typing that doesnt necessarily tie into WATER too as there isnt a whole lot of generic aqua support for modern yugioh in general outside of supreme sea mare

I feel like as things stand, Tistina faces the same problems that most every World Premiere theme hits on its debut; the fact the theme is limited to 7 cards so you can't get much out of them unless you experiment with them and use them as an engine more than their own deck. From what I have seen, the cards work best currently taking advantage of how Sentinel and Hound are able to constantly recur themselves as free Link materials for a combo build, the popular case I've seen being a Scareclaw + Kashtira variant that is able to get out a board of Tri-Heart, I:P. and two other monsters to I:P into either Apo or Underworld Goddess if the opponent has a monster and all that off of just 2 cards (Sentinel and Triviskarma). As for what the theme does on paper, I like the idea of a control theme that functions as Daruma Cannon on Legs but Better and Tistina is amazing in that regard as well as from a lore perspective when you consider its like spreading their mutation onto others and sealing them in crystals. However as mentioned above, this is standard faire for World Prem themes and we will have to wait until AGOV drops in October before we see where Konami will evolve this strategy. Robot galaxy destroyer is feather duster on legs (but requires 3 level 10), Super dora can protect your crystal god and ravenous tarantula pairs well with hound so as you attack directly your tistina mosters get bigger, plus it punishes on your opponents next turn if they survive.
This decks obviously going to get way more support in sets to come, so I'm probably gonna get them just in case something promising comes out of it. I think a solid support for them (other than more ways to get a bit of board presence) would be a Mind Meld-type thing that changes an opponent's effect to "destroy one face-up Tistina card your opponent controls (you choose)" so you can force them to pop the God, field spell, continuous trap etc.
I'd say hoard them and see what comes out in the next wave of support, could be some other ways to cheat out the big boss or have some other cool effects
Another deck that auto loses to shifter, I like the fact konami made so many decks that are graveyard reliant over the years only to make a hand trap macro cosmos that shuts them down immediately
Tistina Runick is actually quite interesting. Has pretty good grind, and it basically gives you free ways to start Tistina plays with popping a set runick quick play with Sentinel, or booking down a Hugin to search and later pop it with Sentinel to search again (and recycle Hugin now that we are at it). Kinda easy to set up both Crystal God and Demigod. Main problem is that it is really match up dependant. The Book of Moon effect is powerful, really powerful, against certain decks, while it isnt as useful against others, specifically stuff like Branded or Floo.
Tistina right now has an identity crisis where it's best effects (including almost all ways to summon their boss monster) want you to go first, but they lack resilience against everything under the sun and their Demigod falls to almost any type of disruption as it's summon is tied to a search as well. Sure, Book of Eclipse supported with a dozen boardbreakers makes that work, but the deck itself has no inherent, non-opponent reliant way to get to any meaningful board yet. If your opponent just sits a single monster, that can already be enough to win. The next wave of support will have to do a lot to make the deck able to sustain it's own gameplan. Or to even have a coherent gameplan at all for that matter.

Your field spell has to be destroyed in the field zone to activate, so negating it's activation gets rid of that without consequences. And Attacking directly is cute, but how are you supposed to get to your setup through disruptions? How are you supposed to get Tistina itself out if your opponent has as much as a single quick effect destruction? The deck cannot go second at all right now and it would almost need a miracle for the second wave to get it to that point.
What this deck needs is a starter that searches a "Tistina" Spell/Trap (so you can add breath) while also having an effect when it is destroyed (so it is triggered by breath or sentinel). If it is a light all the better
I guess you could use Signs of the Tistina as Link Material with I:P Masquerena to go for S:P Little Night or Knightmare Unicorn and get rid of 2 Monsters instead of one, kind of like in Unchained when you go Unchained Soul of Rage into Knightmare Unicorn, maybe a One-Off for that reason but we'll see.
High Key I think the deck has a ton of potential if they can get a non-chokeable (non-opt) way of summoning crystal god. The consistency is already much better than most TCG exclusive decks by this point (3 cards that search, not including Domain), the overwhelming issue is something like Ash or Borrelsavage on Baatistina. Deck is also somewhat hurt by the fact that it's fairly on its own in terms of accessing the engine, unless you play something extremely heavy to search domain or something. Aqua is actually a pretty crappy type despite what Tear would have you believe. In spite of this, I very much want to play this, and is honestly the most excited I've been about paper in a while because the first wave core is probably gonna be no more than $20, and you don't need much else to play it besides going second staples.
So we have a fire lvl 4. We have a wind lvl 3. So there might come a lvl 1 and 2. And they will have the attributes earth and water. So maybe water aqua lvl 2 that can special summon itself from hand or field....... wouldnt that be nice? :)

The tistinas suck as an archetype but you could use them as a bricky engine. Run 3 field spell, 1 tistina god, 1 hound. If you draw the field spell you get a free daruma cannon+direct attack going second, but you have to run 2 bricks.
I'm so interested in what their thought process with the trap was. It's a trap monster, so you can flip it back face-down with those effects, but there's no point in doing that.

Why would gold pride get support right now? Every tcg exclusive archetype gets exactly 2 waves of support simultaneously in sets until it gets released in the ocg at which time it can then get extra (typically 1 card) support. Why would you think gp would be any different?

To me these things look more like Ice Crystals than rock crystals and Ice based monsters tend to fall under Aqua typing.

The deck wants to go second. There is a all you monster can attack directly card. All the bonuses come from going second.

honestly, since kozmo there's no relevant tcg-exclusive archetype, spyral was meta because of ocg support, it never was when it was exclusive.
