100÷ would help me. I am in preparation to build a skillion house and was using a similar design. The roof is the star of the show to me (windows will be slightly less extreme).
Truth in materials is a pretty good phrase. I’d love to hear about why you chose to use foam for a capillary break? What other products did you look at?
Thank you SO much. I'm here in Ireland, trying to figure out how to build something very similar to this, albeit much smaller scale. How I wish could have you on the job Jordan!!! ☘
Excellent work & beautiful. My only concern is house is in Texas so potential for a tornado. An EF5 will lift against the roof even with beams. I would want to ask a structural engineering about the wind uplift ??
Hello @Jordan Smith, I wrote a reply yesterday and it was deleted!!! So I will make another attempt... I realize the the roof consist of 2" x 6" tong & grove decking boards maybe #1 or select, roof rafters are spaced 6' OC, may I ask the width and height of the roof rafters??? We are moving to Maine and I am designing our Passive Double (Skillion or Clerestory) Shed Roof house plans with exposed wood ceilings beams (roof rafters and 2" X 6" T&G too) with an attached green house... I am new to using Chief Architect Premier software... Jordan Smith Would you do a follow-up video on the "Roof Video" please, Liked N Subscribed!!! I would enjoy a conversation with you also... I have so much to learn and love home construction!!! Thank you!!!
Hi Jordan. Great video & loved the roof video too. Fantastic! I'd love to see a video on the finishing & insulating around the metal beams, above the windows to get a well sealed and aesthetically pleasing final finish that is energy efficient and effective.
Technically, this is considered “curtain wall” geometry, not “window wall”. The pressure plate fastens with screws every 8” or so, then the face cap snaps on.
you mentioned the 100k difference for 20 foot glass panels,, but wondering, really just wondering for my own perspective, if you factored in what the real difference would have been considering the extra carpentry etc. for the additional framing? thanks
The “jumbo glass” cost is exponentially more. Jumbo is generally anything over 144 in any direction, and/ or anything over about 50sf. There is also considerations of glass that big with deflection, which could require thicker outboard and inboard glass. Glass that size is also costly to transport, and requires special lift equipment to handle onsite. These are some of the factors, which far outweigh adding the intermediate horizontals and using smaller sized glass.
If you get into real cost net of everything it doesn't just stop with extra framing cost. You'd also have to consider the extra cost of transporting and handling, the specialized labor to install it, the extra time to deal with something so unconventional and fragile, etc.
A video on the design and build of the roof would be amazing

Good seeing you 👍
Good to be back!

Glad to see you posting again! Always appreciate your unique take and next level approach, hope to see some new posts again soon
Awesome. Would love to see more videos on the roof.
You got it!
Definitely do roof video
I’d be interested in learning how you insulate this type of roof.
Sign me up for that roof video. Love to know how you addressed the decking joints that land mid-span!
Hell yeah
This was a great video! I would love to learn more about the roof and how you insulated it.
Thanks for the good content.
What an awesome video Jordan!!! Would love to see a video of the roof details! Keep em coming!
Love it! I'd love a full video on the roof.
Very interested to know more about the roof!
looks amazing and well done with explaining how you put it all together. Looking forward to the roof video. Well done, from Dingle, Ireland
Beautifully done I install this in Boston and you did excellent job with install and the thermal break and the envelop of thar package looks awesome
Verma, or storefront great look on house. Usually on commercial buildings
Want to see the roof details please.
I’m thinking about building a skill ion house like this one. Beautiful house, well done
Do individual detail videos on more parts of this house. Roof next

Can show more details of sealing between different thermal coefficient materials 😊
Just found your channel. Pictures and graphics are perfect. This is a beautiful design/build. Just wow!

Nice job. The 6 foot spacing of the rafters was worth it.
wonderful presentation
great video very informative im running through similar situation thanks
Hell yes do a roof video!!! Thanks!

Roof video, yes please!
Really nice structure. Question. How is the last foot or so of the t&g decking being supported since it does not span over the top of the rafters?
those are going to be a pita to keep clean. they look nice on day 1 though.
Very impressive house. How much does it cost for the materials (beams, walls, glasses etc.)?

Roof Video!
I’m trying to get it shot today!! Thanks for the reminder!
what is the cost breakdown on this window?

This looks like trash. The walls are very narrow and not panoramic.
