I live near Seattle and know a straight couple that moved to Cedar Park for work for a couple of years. We visited them, then and Rain was one of the MANY bars that we went to (we mostly went to the straight bars). Rain was fun and very friendly. I fell in love with the cool lights and the big dancefloor. Austin was very friendly and dirt cheap compared to Seattle.

I've now corrected my comment. Oh, wow!! Yes, Cedar Park is about 30 minutes from Austin, if I remember correctly. It was MUCH cheaper than the Seattle area. For example, the first evening that we were in Texas, we ate at a restaurant where the food was made from scratch. I ordered a dinner (it was probably something with chicken and mashed potatoes) that was large enough to make me full and provided leftovers that were big enough to be a full dinner in Seattle. I also ordered one of those giant margaritas. I believe that the dinner was $12 and the margarita was around $7. BTW, the meal was excellent! I would have paid $22 for the same dinner in Seattle, with less food, and easily over $15 for the margarita. Even an hour or two south of Seattle, those fish bowl margaritas are at least $16 and are served in a smaller glass than the one I had in Texas. I cant remember the price of gas at the time, but it did strike me at how inexpensive it seemed to be, compared to Seattle. I was in absolute disbelief.
