Winter Marble League 2018 Qualifiers: E1 Curling

- The first event of the 2018 Winter Marble League! (marblelympics, marble games)
We will begin with the Curling!
NOTE: This video is a reupload from the 2018 Winter Marble League, all 3 groups are sticked together in one video.
In every matchup, both teams take turns rolling a marble towards a color coded target to earn points based on where they settle (1 point for blue ring, 2 points for white ring, 3 points for red ring, and 5 for the center white button). It is also possible to knock other marbles off (both teammates and opponents). Whichever team has the highest score wins. In the event of a tie, whichever team's marble is closest to the center button wins.
The winner of each preliminary matchup proceeds to the Semi Finals. Then the winners of the Semi Finals go to the Final while the losers go to the Bronze Final.
The next video includes the other 3 events of the ML2018 qualification.

The problem with olympic programming is there's too much fluff. Too many personal stories and hype and other such nonesense, not enough actual events. The networks need to take note of the Marblelympics. Just show us the competition and top notch commentary. Don't care about the 4th place finisher who overcame an eating disorder or whatever else you spent an hour of airtime on that could have been spent on some fierce ping pong

I deeply appreciate the effort that goes into the storytelling and all the small details. It wasn't necessary to do the whole "fans are angry and try to get onto the field" thing but it's the kind of thing that makes my day and gets me excited for every single video from this channel.

Greg Woods is absolutely brilliant as commentator. Of course, he has the advantage of scripting, since these are not live events. Nonetheless, eat your heart out Bob Costas.

I love the fans getting out of control and the guy getting down on the "ice" that's great.
I think a livestream would be a fantastic idea at some point. Just imagine watching a Curling event live with people rooting for their favorite team (Go Thunderbolts!) and the pure thrill of an exciting match.

Not naming the leader of the Golden Orbs "Orbachev" was definitely a missed opportunity.
An old trick for writers to use when struggling with plot is to turn to nature documentaries and imprint the behaviors and reactions of the animals on their characters. I believe that this video would be just as equally helpful for a writer! The drama is (and I can’t believe I’m saying this of marbles...) palpable!
It’s because the commentary is top notch and helps you imagine the marbles as actual athletes with proper emotions. Also the fact that each marble has its own unique name and team just like people

I could watch these forever. I hope you reduce the drop height for this year's Curling though, it seems like they're going too fast.
16 teams took at least 30 mins, while 20 took 44. Oh goodness, what if at least 32 teams are there, it would take 2-3 hours and WEEKS of production.

When you go back and watch these after seeing the new ones, you notice little things that they added. The spectators start moving next year and we have those custom cheers now for each team.
I seen Marblelympics in the Subbox and I got excited. Then I realized it's last years. But I'll still enjoy it again anyways

LMFAO!!! WTH is going on?! I normally *_hate_* watching sports and yet I'm so drawn in by this! Love it so far!
39:43 I really love moments like this and am disappointed they're happening less often in the more recent productions. I know all the trouble you go into just to make the games themselves is a massive effort, and I appreciate every moment you put into it. Still, silly scripted moments like crowd reactions/altercations, fan marble disruptions, and "injuries" (like what prompted Team MoMary after the qualifiers) really flesh out the world of the marbles and get the viewer even more invested in the fun of the whole event. That said, I'm looking forward to what 2023 brings us! Thank you for everything you do!
