    The problem with these precious people creating things like that is its almost impossible to meet them as they spend 90% of their life in their workshop. This plane is a masterpiece.

    Love the Steerman . I used to fly in a real one everyday when I was crop dusting . My wife's kids thought I would be afraid of roller coasters because of my age so i told them a roller coaster aint shi+ . I told them ill go ride the roller coasters with them if they would go for a ride in an airplane with me . I didn't tell them open cockpit . Lol . They chickened out. . Flying inverted in an open cockpit with nothing holding you in but the seatbelts isnt for the faint if heart .
    Beautiful model . Nothing sounds like a radial engine . Had a 750 Pratt-N-Whitney in my plane .
    Great camera work . Thanks for the vid.

    • @miked1869
      @miked1869 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many years ago, I skydived from a Steerman by being deliberately tipped out of the front cockpit at the top of a loop - well actually, I was required to climb up and sit on the fuselage just in front of the pilot with my feet on the seat to ensure I didn't snag anything on leaving.
      I can confirm that I wouldn't have felt very secure doing aerobatics in that plane if I hadn't been wearing my parachute rig - seat belt or no seat belt!
      How wonderful that you got to fly one regularly for your job.

      @@miked1869Lol that's a cool story . I'm third gen pilot . Grew up on a small air field . When I was a kid my dad would fly and my uncle would walk the wing barn storming . My entire family are pilots . My grandfather flew F-4's . I definitely have had a good life . No regrets . I've never done skydiving . Im sure you know us pilots have a saying " you don't jump out of a perfectly good airplane . I have a friend that was with the golden knights . He has many many jumps . I have thought about jumping many times . I would probably get hooked . Im not a young man though . lol .

      That's what I was thinking. The real plane wouldn't have been able to climb like that from takeoff! I'm wondering how far the range is with these modern remote controls and the receiver in the plane? Also, what happens if the plane somehow gets out of range of your remote, does it just fly flat and level for an hour before it runs out of fuel and crashes into someone's yard 50 miles away?

    When he is taxiing out you can see that he has about 35 degrees of up elevator throw available. He might need this to prevent nose over when taxiing on grass, but unless he has less throw programmed in for landing, it will be too sensitive to control on the landing approach. I program in only enough elevator throw (using the dual rate function) to be able to fully stall the plane at touchdown

      No, it is tail heavy, pilot doesn't have good rudder skills and approach was way too high and not aligned with runway. Lucky it survived that first landing that nearly stalled and would have badly damaged the model.
