What a lovely boat. Hey I have a story about that sandbar.. I was a youngster, probably 13. I'd been granted the privilege of borrowing a tinny off family friends and I was out exploring all the canals and channels off the river. I'd been allowed to roam, but given a strict deadline to be home by. Distracted and having fun racing with kids in rented rubber duckys, time got away from me. And when I realised there was minutes left to play, I set off at full speed back to where I was staying. Seeking to avoid larger boats, I completely misread those channel markers and hit that sandbank at full click. It was about 3 inches deep or thereabouts.. Picking myself up from the front of the tinny, I scrambled back to where the prop was noisily blasting water in the air and yoinked the safety line that I should have been wearing out..
I think it took me the better part of 10 minutes to collect myself and survey for damage.. Push off the bank, and then I spent the next 20 minutes frantically tugging at the starter cord before collapsing exhausted back on the seat and noticing the safety lanyard where I'd thrown it.. lol. I got it going and set off at a very sensible pace to recieve my chewing out for being late. Which never happened.. Nobody noticed and everything was cool.
Anyway lol, I've never told that story before, and never planned to.. but there was the camera in that very spot and it all came flooding back.

You could see that breeze and you got right in the groove and then less when in the lee of the buildings. Really lovely !

Nice one Tony, she moves along nicely......seems very shallow and narrow!

Thanks Paul. She's shallow alright, she'll float in not much more than ankle-deep. But she is beamier than her motion suggests.

Exquisite boat. I took a look and designer estimates 250 h of competent work. It seems little for a nice and big boat.

How is the boat for one person? Is it a bear to manage alone? as far as beaching and righting after a capsize and in general?

G'day Harry. In the right conditions it's fine for single-handing. It weighs about 750kg with rig and equipment, but launching, beaching and retrieving is all ok. I haven't capsize tested it yet, but I think that might be too much for one person.

Get in touch with John Welsford (designer).
You'd be amazed at the range of plans/designs that he has. All absolutely beautiful.
TH-cam channel Ramshackle Homestead (West Aus) is building one 😊
