In an interview Emily was talking a little about how she works to come across, to emote as a singer, for each song. I think, for me at least, that is a HUGE part of why I think she's amazing. She carries with her performance so much emotion that fans relate to. In the several live versions of Waiting for the End, where she breaks because it moves her to tears, it creates a human connection with listeners, and deepens the meaning of the song.
I'm obsessed with this song just now. The new arrangement that's evolved in the recent live shows is beautiful and Emily's vocals are absolutely stunning, truly spine-tingling!
I love every single note that comes out of Emily's mouth whatever she sings. Also please some appreciation for Collin. His part was really great, too. Mike absolutely nailed it with both.
(min 9:06) "My December," means right around Christmas time, where a person (for example) is not next to family or with friends celebrating Christmas, and who would give everything away there, just to have a place but more importantly to have someone to come home to. Regardless of the meaning, I have to say that this performance literally stunned me and even made me cry 🥲🌨️🎵🌌
I went to their concert in Bogotá in October and Emily's voice is stunning, she's able to make you feel like every song is really personal and she just get better with every song. My December live is a masterpiece.
The original version of the song was on an EP only released in Japan, along with High Voltage, Step Up, and some (kinda bad) live recordings. My Dec and High Voltage were released globally for first time, but remixed, on Reanimation. I remember being at the Rock Hall of Fame as a kid and found the EP on cd in the gift shop. Felt like I won the lottery at the time, it went everywhere with me. Emily nailed it, in her own perfect way.
I used to listen to this song on repeat! Love it! Emily did a phenomenal job with it as well as the band tweaking it from the original. So happy they released this!
This was very good performance an amazing one, but watch the Brazil show my december it was perfect there specially Colin on the accoustic brings back allot of childhood memories like Unplugged MTV It's one of the best show ever everyone was on tears very touching.
Yes, the Brazil version is the best I've heard and the whole crowd were chanting Emily's name at the end of it. I think Emily just gets better and better. Can't wait to see them live next year.
I watched Emily play this in Brazil last month and it was heartbreaking, truly. She does it well, but it’s a Chester song to me and always will be especially the live from projekt revolution 2002 version! ❤❤
My gosh, to hear both Colin and Mike sing with Emily, it’s amazing. I just hope I’m not attacked by Chester fans. they are so delusional that they disapprove of anything that the band does. they keep putting words in his mouth even though he’s been dead for seven years. if they aren’t attacking Emily, then they attack Mike.
Yep, exactly, I tried telling one Fan about Mark Wakefield, but they deliberately chose to separate the band’s history as XERO instead of acknowledging it. They wanted to act like XERO and LINKIN PARK were two different bands. they didn’t like the fact that I said that Chester wasn’t the original singer and that he auditioned for the band.
@@123theprodigy5I had numerous discussions when it came to the "Doesnt sound like Linkin Park" people. Every time I asked "Well what does Linkin Park sound like?" they would default to the first two albums 9/10 times
This is one of the few LP songs I never really liked much; I preferred the Reanimation remix more. But Emily's version is absolutely beautiful and haunting 💗
I haven't purchased the tickets yet cause of being busy, but I most definitely plan to be at the Greenville concert especially since that's where I'll be living!! It's going to be so absolutely awesome, amazing and beautiful as well!!!
This was a Hybrid Theory (later version) bonus track. I think it was written whilst they were doing the original Hybrid Theory tour. It's just so beautiful. Recommend you listen to the original version as well. As always, you can feel the sadness/pain in Chester's vocals. Gold Star to Mr Shinoda for the songwriting - yet again! There's a great live version (Projekt Revolution 2002) on TH-cam with Phoenix playing the Cello I'm really glad they put this version out as it shows yet another side to Emily. It's slightly slower than the original. The 4 point harmonies on this live version are amazing
Beautiful indeed. If you haven't yet, I also recommend checking out another version of this from 2002 (Projekt Revolution 2002) performed by Chester. It is different, but beautiful as well.
Oh my gosh!! I just wanted to say kiitos to you raya..i didn't expect tht, this song is one of my fav song, i came back every year in December... Sitting in balcony, having beer and cigarette and i played this song over & over again... And Man....wth is Emily!! She nailed it, Emily sang ths beautiful song perfectly... ❤from Tempere_Finland 🇫🇮 &Aizawl_NE India🇮🇳
Chester's crazy fanboys are going to come at me for this, but i prefer Emily's version of My December, Waiting for the End, Lost and Papercut. Her version of My December just tears me up every single time, and the way Mike, Emily and Colin harmonize, it's so beautiful, their voices match so well, easily the best version of My December for me. I want a live album so bad.
Well let me be the 1st. I agree with this version of my december being better because it was harmonized beautifully. However Chester's version for waiting for the end and papercut is better. Don't know how you compared lost versions since Chester never did it live. Also in general I don't like Emily's screams, doesn't suit LP's music. Soft voice is good though
I completely agree with my december. I already saw a video on youtube of this live performance a day after the concert and fell in love with it. I think Lost we cant really judge because we never heard chester perfom it live. I really like her version of waiting for the end but still prefer chesters version. Were i completely disagree is with Papercut. I saw alot of live performances of it by now. I always loved the little emphasis' chester put on some of the words which made the song 100x better when performed live. I feel like Emily's timing most of the times is a bit off and her vocals dont fit the song so well.
Lots of people from Bogota. Me too!!! Besides she added this high last note at that concert ...... I don't think I've been happier in my life like I was that day.
Heard this song first on Hybrid Theory 24 years ago. It never left my mind, Chester's version was amazing. This one is on par with that one. At least imho.
@@DPW864 Disagree he did two live versions that sounded near perfect. Emily uses grit to cover her terrible performance. To be honest emily did not sing well at all here and used grit when it was not needed.
The original with Chester is better, LP is still good and this softer live version is nice but unfortunately Emily just doesn't do the old songs justice.
How can you do a reaction video to the song and not even mention one time Collin's contribution. Are you even a LP fan? Especially since in the beginning you said the song didn't ring a bell. I'm getting vibes that you are just on the LP bandwagon for views...... Sorry but this reaction video is pathetic. BTW the lyrics aren't snow covered trees. It's snow covered dreams.
I'll take it a step further and clarify more for you. One lyrical sentence says snow covered home. A little bit later in the song it says snow covered dreams. There's this thing called Google if you don't believe me.

That's the drummer btw... LP is filled with incredible musicians.
Colin Brittain! Say his name!
Facts. I literally couldn't think of a better person than Colin to fill in Rob's shoes. He's so talented.
Sucks rob left tho, he was the OG 😭
@@Godless-Being That’s alright it’s understandable, he has bigger priorities now. Family and everything.
Also he was working with Papa Roach@@jkuzem96
Funfact: Mike wrote the song in just one day in the tourbus in between concerts
This version of this song is quickly becoming one of my favorite Linkin Park songs. It's so beautiful :(

Emily... the whole band... they crushed this performance.
An extremely talented vocalist, love Emily's screams& harder vocals but listening to her sing like this is incredible, its just "WOW" 💯❤

Love all your reactions! Hope we get to see more of LP in your channel
This one is for the OG fans. The feels I got the first time I heard this one
How it's possible to hate her, i didn't understand.
It's the internet, people can hate on anything without to fear any consequences.
Because they are incapable of accepting any change. They're too stuck in their ways. I absolutely love Emily the more I watch her perform❤
Just soo good. What else is there to say.
People can hate all they want but Emily sounds amazing here
