    Very interesting, you're right about hiring someone and expecting them to find these credits but what if they don't ever really know you, your life and goals! From my experience, they want to look good to the IRS so they don't do much to some while others are receiving "special" attention

    Great video, Lena. The more knowledgeable a taxpayer is about taxes the better outcome they can have, even if they hire a professional to do their taxes. Tax professionals are human, and even a CPA can make honest mistakes.
    One thing that confuses people is the difference between the amount owed with the return and the actual tax. The true tax liability that can be offset by a nonrefundable tax credit is not just the amount owed with the return (not considering the credits), but the total tax on the return. Nonrefundable tax credits can reduce this to zero, but not below zero. A refundable tax credit can reduce the tax to below zero, creating a negative tax.

    Just do not pay taxes keep it simple. Read your constitution clearly.
