I used to have this when I was younger when it came out and its 2019 now and I want it again! I don't know beta it is but I was in love with it and I still am! I would love to have it again !
Guys please calm the fuck down. Chromebooks are not used for gaming, you use it for studying using office stuff like word/document/power point, it's mainly for school or work.
I just got mine today and I love it so far! These Chromebooks are pretty much fully functional laptops at only $275. I've been typing papers, listening to music, viewing photos, reading ebooks, surfing the net, watching videos. This thing pretty much does everything a normal laptop does. I'm willing to answer any questions regarding this Chromebook.
Very pretty chromebook... But the lack of an SD slot and HDMI port is kind of disappointing. The Samsung model has a little weaker processor but had both HDMI and micro SD slot and USB 3 port as well and it's 80$ less than HP's model
Hey Mike: I love your reviews but what I think is missing is RATING 1 - 5. 1 being "poor" 5 being "worth buying". I suggest this because you have a comprehensive grasp of most electronic goods and it may help others in their purchases. Just a suggestion.
I am planning to get a Chromebook. The Chromebook will be easy for my wife and I. Our helper told us about it and he said it is easy for us. I love his opinion
I have a Gaming PC and i bought this to just have a browser so i dont need to use my Ram or quit the game to check a video or a site. :) Maybe not the best, but for me its enough. I also take this one to school for browsing.
Over 6 years later the HP Chromebook 11 is still stunning to look at in a sea of faux-metal, plastic clad laptops atypical of the Chromebook brand. It's no Pixelbook Go, but it has it's own flair with the all white body and light strip. It's a shame no manufacturer ever revived this kind of design. It's also a shame that we don't have a perfect Chromebook for the average user, like what this one tried to do. Could you imagine a lecture hall with students hunched over a bit over these petite devices, typing steadily away, an army of white to combat the omnipresent MacBook Air? If only Google could fight off the criticism of their early days of Chrome OS! (Darn, I think I'm a fanboy.)
This particular Chromebook was on my want list but were delayed for awhile due to manufacturing issues. I ended up getting a 14 inch HP in white, the biggest break is they had a temporary offer of 2 years free cellular data on the thing. So I am using that for my sole internet free! Aside from data plan for my phone. You can't beat that as a deal!
Great review dude and thanks to you I bought this for Christmas but I will say something though, this computer actually has 8 hours of battery life but other then that wrong error great review and I subscribed Thx!
6 hours is what it says on the website. If you go to the bottom of the website, it'll explain how 6 hours is only an estimate and that actual battery life will vary.
i've had mine for about a month. my only complaints are with ergonomics: it's hard to open the laptop (no indent to grab) and i feel like i'm scratching the case when plugging it in to charge. otherwise, no complaints so far. i've moved to this after five years on an old macbook.
I have the 2017 model one. Great for basic web surfing and typing documents, but that's about it. I had an older HP 15 Windows 10 laptop before it, and now I use an HP 17 with Windows 11.
if you mean the online version then yes. if you want a good word processor just use google docs because it is Microsoft word but better and free for life. if you have any questions just ask me please.
Thank you. I appreciate that you take your time to answer me. Also, is this laptop good for some work project for school ? I need a laptop for word and maybe surfing the web for answer, no gaming or photos. Would it be convenient ? thank you
This is actually a non touch screen google’s chromebook unlike chromebook pixel laptops and pixelbook. So there won’t be any support for android apps. Sadly you can only use the online ms word.
You're right actually in this case it sort of made sense. But what bothers me more is when google/samsung steal some of apple's innovative ideas and make a product that they sell at the same price (e.g. cell phones/tablets)
Ryan Oboryshko Veyronp87 You are right apple is not the creator of everything. However apple is able to better than any other tech company in my opinion to find things that were not made very well and creates much better designed and better produced products that are both intuitive to use and work well. They didn't invent the graphical design of computers but if they had not put that into the Macintosh computer would any other company have decided that that would be a good idea? Probably not. So although apple didn't invent everything most of their designs and philosophical ideals are what distinguishes them from other companies and is what allowed them to not only impact but also reinvent major components of the technology industry (as well as a few other ones).
Ryan Oboryshko and unlike you and someone who doesn't put in the effort to type "ANyway" right I don't educate myself from videos on youtube. I read the biography of Steve Jobs, other books over entrepreneurship, Bill Gates, and economics
I'm a student whose going to high school soon and I need a laptop but mostly just for typing/writing documents. I really love the look of this laptop and the fact that it's so easy to bring with you to a lot of places. I would like to use this laptop for TH-cam and movies and things like that as well. I've been torn between this laptop and the Chromebook 14. Considering all this, which would you recommend?
Google Drive Docs/Sheets/Slides DOES work Offline if you go to Google Drive and configure Offline in the left sidebar. It caches your docs and then starts allowing you to create and edit stuff offline. Calendar also has this setting if you go and click the Gear icon.
Depends mostly on the design and the screen, but If you spent a little more money ($300), you can get a Dell Inspiron 15 that has so much more functionality.
the best chromebook so far. can you provide details on the charging? how long did it take to charge, because that´s a unique innovation i haven´t seen so far with micro usb. and compared to the macbook air - you can buy 5 times the hp chromebook 11 and do the same.
to all those turned off by the fact it won't have office, google drive is googles virtual 'office', it has spreadsheet, docs, etc. try it online seemifmyoure into it
Guys the chromebooks are good for living in the cloud and web based tasks. If you are not running any heavy programs, if you can get your work done in the cloud and be able to live there, then this is a great option to consider. If not, then turn your attention somewhere else. These are great machines for what they are made for. If you are student, or if you just want something to surf the web while laying in bed and don't want a heavy hot laptop that takes forever to boot and slows down.
is it within the warrenty or not? If yes, get it replaced if not, please get it replaced from the apple store for a nominal cost. It is a win situation of your ipod touch is older than 2-3yrs because if you pay a little money and apple will get you a new ipod touch(previous gen)
Mike! Which Chromebook is the best between HP Chromebook 11, HP Chromebook pavilion 14, or Samsung Chromebook!?!?!?! The ones at the prices of $200-$300!!! PLEASE REPLY it will help me for an idea. YOU ARE THE BEST!!! :)
For Microsoft stuff you just use Google Docs instead, which can open word documents and format the files you make into word documents. As for iTunes, I don't think so, but I'm not completely sure so feel free to correct me.
just bought it and love it,it has everything i like about apple and it doesn't have everything that i hate about apple, like apple's price and mouse bar
So you can/can't use Microsoft Word offline? I have my eye on this because I don't want to have to bring my laptop to school but if it can't use word without wifi, then I really don't see the significance of it.
Apparently, HP had to temporarily stop selling this model, due to an overheating power supply. HP now has a redesigned unit that not only charges faster than the old one, it also does not over heat. HP is now selling it with the new PSU and you can contact HP to get the new one.
If you seriously want to get one, the best small one would be without a doubt the HP Chromebook 11. The best big one would probably be the Samsung Chromebook 2, although the HP Chromebook 14 is definitely a viable option.
Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for incredible performance, you should be looking at the Acer C720 rocking an Intel i3 processor. If you're looking for great battery, I'd recommend the Acer Chromebook 13, but that particular model lacks in terms of performance and screen quality (blame it on that NVIDIA Tegra K1). I'd say the all-around best Chromebook is the Toshiba Chromebook 2, mainly because of that 1080p IPS display. Most Chromebooks have "meh" screens, but Toshiba nailed it this time. TL;DR: Toshiba Chromebook 2 if you want a 13-inch laptop with a gorgeous display (my personal recommendation). Acer C720 if you want a small one with incredible performance.
If no fans are being used, is there a heat sink system implemented? I know this isn't as complex as a standard laptop, but the heat has to go somewhere.
If there is no vent or fan, won't it heat up? I'm guessing that's what it's for. I'm thinking of buying a Acer Chromebook 15 and I wanna make sure it doesn't heat up because it doesn't have a vent or a fan.
It;s considerable if you want a quick laptop that's simple to set up and very easy to use. If you want to do stuff, you can get mediocre "apps" from the Chrome Web Store that can replace everything on your current computer and fulfill your needs. If you want a cheap laptop that can run truly powerful software, get an HP Stream 11 or 14. Both can get the stuff done that you can get done on the Chromebook, comes with 1 TB of storage free for 1 year vs. Chromebooks 1 TB for 2 years, comes with one year of Office free, and handles it pretty well. The Stream also handles Windows Store apps like a cat climbing up a tree, but if you want desktop software besides Office, they won't run as well, but they're there when you need them. Also, this isn't as quick and simple as Chromebook as you have to deal with all the frustrations of Windows, but since the OS that Chromebook is based on is very light operating system that doesn't need viruses for it to be useful. Also, it you're already familiar with the Windows touchpad controls and keyboard shortcuts, the Chromebook might even take one month to get used to, as many keyboard buttons from WIndows are missing, even the ones that you didn't think would be, such as the caps-lock button and delete button. And they have modified the touchpad controls a lot, and you will really be missing the right-click button, because they changed that to something even more frustrating to activate the right-click menu. If you're looking for the best of both, you might as well consider yourself out of luck, or so until the next breakthrough laptop that's this thin, this cheap, and this simple comes out.
Hits power button at 6:00 So if you don't really care what it looks like or what box it comes in you can save cut half this video.
I used to have this when I was younger when it came out and its 2019 now and I want it again! I don't know beta it is but I was in love with it and I still am! I would love to have it again !
I was the same, I just never owned one, I always wanted one.
this isnt used for gaming etc. its meant for school work or on the go. we use the 11.6 ones at my school
I bought this to play some Crysis, wish me luck
good luck brah!
So did it work?
lul
Guys please calm the fuck down. Chromebooks are not used for gaming, you use it for studying using office stuff like word/document/power point, it's mainly for school or work.
It's also portable you can bring it to school or library.
or run Linux on it
+Teptep “TEPTEPTEPI” Tepi
So it ran MIcrosoft Office? or Chrome office?
I use it for gaming and it works fine
Hamsta Gaming L no it dosent, complete garbage

What really amazes me about these things and technology in general is the fact that you can now edit short videos ONLINE! That's amazing!
Hey Mike: I love your reviews but what I think is missing is RATING 1 - 5. 1 being "poor" 5 being "worth buying". I suggest this because you have a comprehensive grasp of most electronic goods and it may help others in their purchases. Just a suggestion.
I need one of these. They look amazing. Seeing these on commercials really have gotten me into this.
I’ve just realized how old this laptop is apparently because of how old the video is :(
I am planning to get a Chromebook.
Why didn’t you just buy more ram?

I can't wait to get it for christmas I want blue!
i can not stress this enough im falling in love with chromebooks
I'm so excited on September 20 cuz my school is getting these for every student so I get to use it and take it home :3 high tech schools rock!!
I hope you know you don't get to keep them.
*Acer C720 Chromebook (11.6-Inch, 2GB & 32GB SSD) $239 and FREESHIPPING>>>*amzn.to/1EJkq4w
Chromebooks aren't good. In my school each student is getting a Lenovo laptop.
Chromebooks suck! You can't get on Window things nor download Window things
that is a good thing. you get no viruses, fast boot up times and google docs free for life
My school is getting these and when we graduate we get to keep them too!
I really do like this review! The chrome book looks really nice, I might consider buying one!
I have recently purchased one (all back) and I am very satisfied with it.
Can you program (Java or C++) on a Chromebook??
Also, would you reccomend the ASUS C300, HP 14 or this?
This particular Chromebook was on my want list but were delayed for awhile due to manufacturing issues. I ended up getting a 14 inch HP in white, the biggest break is they had a temporary offer of 2 years free cellular data on the thing. So I am using that for my sole internet free! Aaron Shi vso in other words you just said it has 6 hours but then you Sid it has as much battery depending on how you use it
Callum 101 yeah
Aaron Shi so it could well and truly also be 8 hours of battery
My windows 8.1 computer gives me 2 hours of battery chrome books are away better than windows I want to try chrome os oh wait VMWARE TO THE RESCUE
i've had mine for about a month. my only complaints are with ergonomics: it's hard to open the laptop (no indent to grab) and i feel like i'm scratching the case when plugging it in to charge. otherwise, no complaints so far. i've moved to this after five years on an old macbook.
"This is the HP Chromebook 11, the 11 inch chromebook from HP" wow really?
This is the best unboxing channel ever.
Was thinking of getting one until I found out that you can't download software which is a deal breaker.
bro, you can get linux onto it, and if software is a big thing for you, there is a huge library on linux including steam with tf2, gmod etc
Joseph Barnes The problem is that you can't run shit on a chromebook. Most games will be a slideshow.
MrChiliwin did you even listen. LINUX, LOOK IT UP, THERES STEAM, AND WEBSITES THAT GET YOU PC GAMES, IVE GOT ONE AND THE CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN
What I don't think you get is that you will get shitty fps either way. You have no hope of running any game with half ok fps.
BUTMY CAPSLOCK
I have the 2017 model one. Great for basic web surfing and typing documents, but that's about it. I had an older HP 15 Windows 10 laptop before it, and now I use an HP 17 with Windows 11.
Everyone in our school district is getting this
Lucky... My school just got like 100 windows 8 laptops. I just think we should have all gotten chromebooks. Less hard to keep updated.
My school has 30 windows vista computers.....
Mine has stupid old windows 7
Its not that old, the teachers in our district got them this year and there pretty fast.
sami rabbani Windows 7 is the best thing ever. Windows 8 is trash
I'm planning of buying this since i'm just gonna use it for browsing and watching videos online. It looks pretty much worth it depends on your usage.
It's beautiful!
I'm tempted to ask for one of these for Christmas.
Is this using office stuff like MIcrosoft Word or Power Point?
Fairly certain it uses the Google equivalent, docs.
No
It uses google drive
Damn I really wanted this computer when I was younger. It looks really good
HP Chromebook 14 is better tho
Thumbs up if you're not interested in the Chromebook and you just watched because DetroitBORG does a great job with his videos
I just watched a 6 minute ad...
I have just unwrapped this for my bday!!! I was sooo suprised
That was a *complete* mistake to replace the Caps Lock button with a Search button...
Yeah... a lot of people love that but owning a chromebook myself I'm not crazy about it and still find it strange.
Victor Lazo
Honestly, I'm still not used to pressing Ctrl+F or something to use Caps Lock. Caps Lock is still there, it's just not as accessible...
When you install linux on it its a pain
Yubo Gao
How come?
you can adjust the buttons now in the settings so the search bar can be a caps lock button
Are you still using it? Cans you use zoom on it?
Will this run netflix in 720p?
Joshua Moulton 1080p, I think....
Joshua Moulton YES
A Wooden Spoon More like 4K on an Unbox therapy video. But it sucks.
its low resolution but the ips screen makes it like a retina display. to me this is the best affordable chromebook
can we add netflix
Yes
Your reviews on your devices are amazing! Keep it up!
You never answer me.WHY??
Great review as always! I really enjoy your in-depth reviews and the fact that you know your stuff.
Can we install Microsoft word ?
if you mean the online version then yes. if you want a good word processor just use google docs because it is Microsoft word but better and free for life. if you have any questions just ask me please.

you need the acer 15 it is less then 300 dollars and it has 1080p ips display and 4gb of ram 16gb ssd. you should get that
jean chamoun yes
This is actually a non touch screen google’s chromebook unlike chromebook pixel laptops and pixelbook. So there won’t be any support for android apps. Sadly you can only use the online ms word.
Just want to say you make really good videos!
Google needs to seriously stop cloning the design of apple products ._.
I disagree, I think the apple products have a great design and it's good to have a cheaper option.
You're right actually in this case it sort of made sense. But what bothers me more is when google/samsung steal some of apple's innovative ideas and make a product that they sell at the same price (e.g. cell phones/tablets)
dont act like apple is the creator of everyhting
Ryan Oboryshko Veyronp87 You are right apple is not the creator of everything. I'm getting a chrome book for Christmas!
No caps lock? How dumb is that?
MsVamPireChic Press search and alt to enable caps lock.
DetroitBorg you are an awesome and informative youtubers and you have inspired me to create my own channel and make cool tech videos like you!!!

Not
Thanks for the unboxing. Perfectly done as usual. I cannot really find a reason to buy a chrome book.
It's funny to see how much these chrome books copy apple's products. Lol.
No not really, tell me what is copyed.
well let's see- the keyboard style, the hinge, the 11.6" screen, and the list goes on
Well weren't there white keyboards before apple? And also the screen size has been around for a long time with netbooks.
it's not really the white keyboards, actually apple's are black, it's the chiclet-key style.
Ah I see, never mind.
Proper review too! If i ever get a chromebook am comin straight to this vid for info an tips
The best video on this device.
Im actually thinking about getting this I like how its small, light and portable.
I'm a student whose going to high school soon and I need a laptop but mostly just for typing/writing documents. I really love the look of this laptop and the fact that it's so easy to bring with you to a lot of places. I would like to use this laptop for TH-cam and movies and things like that as well. Wow, another stellar unboxing & review. Thanks for the in-depth detail - I've had my eye on a Chromebook as a fun "at home" device.
Witch is the best for a student? The hp 14 chromebook or the hp 11 chromebook
Thanks for the review !!
Awesome video … looks very mac-like, love how much value it offers too.
Quite a nice machine for the price! Great review, Mike.
Google Drive Docs/Sheets/Slides DOES work Offline if you go to Google Drive and configure Offline in the left sidebar. It caches your docs and then starts allowing you to create and edit stuff offline. Calendar also has this setting if you go and click the Gear icon.
probly getting one for Christmas! so excited!!!
I get upset when I unborn stuff (off camera) because the product looks better when it's brand new. But I love +DetroitBORG 's unboxings
Is every chromebook boxed this way, just made by different companies?
EverydaySkinnyGuy normally they aren’t. this is actually REALLY good packing
Depends mostly on the design and the screen, but If you spent a little more money ($300), you can get a Dell Inspiron 15 that has so much more functionality.
Its probably reliable for the price and the speed is good and u can probably play flash games so it a good computer ima get it anyways.
Excellent in depth review. Thanks a lot.
the best chromebook so far. can you provide details on the charging? how long did it take to charge, because that´s a unique innovation i haven´t seen so far with micro usb. and compared to the macbook air - you can buy 5 times the hp chromebook 11 and do the same.

I love these thorough Unboxings / Reviews :)
Do you think this would be good for school?

just bought it and love it,it has everything i like about apple and it doesn't have everything that i hate about apple, like apple's price and mouse bar
i LOVE the design looks very slick
Can you do an unboxing of the new Acer c720 chrome book, I am thinking of getting one instead of the HP.
In your best opinion what is better the Samsung or HP chrome laptops for like checking email, playing website games, instagram stuff like that
Is it possible to print from this device? Nice review, as always.
I own this machine and apart from the speed, it's great. Needed a faster processor and perhaps more RAM.
So you can/can't use Microsoft Word offline? I have my eye on this because I don't want to have to bring my laptop to school but if it can't use word without wifi, then I really don't see the significance of it.

I think the hp chromebook 11 was discontinued.....that one was my favorite 😭
Lukaswb 124 Nope, they haven't. www.google.com/chrome/devices/chromebooks.html#hp-chromebook-11-g3
+Aaron Shi actually this model he is unboxing is discontinued but the one in the link is a new version, the HP chromebook 11 G3.

You should review the Hp stream 14 Windows pc. It looks a lot like a MacBook pro but is just $299!
I might get one for my bday 😊
I am planning to buy this chromebook. Is it a good idea?

DetroitBORG what is the best, in your opinion, external memory hard drive compatible for this type of computer? Also, what is the cheapest?
nice review man,def getting this soon
should i get this one or the samsung chromebook
Hi DB, Can you hook up HDMI to this with a adapter? Nice review.
U r gonna do an unboxing video of the new iPads right?
Chrome os has been here since 2013? WOW THATS COOL
Your Reviews are awesome keep it up!
I kinda want one. Is that a bad thing?
