Take me, take me to your darkest room Close every window and bolt every door The very first moment I heard your voice I'd be in darkness no more Take me to your most barren desert A thousand miles from the nearest sea The very first moment I saw your smile It would be like heaven to me There are not any mountain too rugged to climb No desert too barren to cross Darlin', if you would just show a sign Of love, I could bear any loss Take me to Siberia And the coldest weather of the winter time And it would be just like spring in California As long as I knew you were mine Yes, it would be just like spring in California As long as I knew you were mine Take me, take me
I so agree with you. As a man in his middle age years I don't cry very easily, but alone in a private room after a few adult drinks, this song gets to those parts of you that you try to keep buried as best you can.
What a haunting voice. It was so incredibly soulful I just assumed she was African American (said the dumb white guy). I found this song watching the ending credits to the Winona Ryder film "Gone In The Night". I just found the song incredibly incredibly moving (along with that film). I think anyone who's lost someone they deelpy loved, knows the feeling this song carries inside it. Just incredible.
I rented that movie and I listened to the end of the movie about 10 times and found the song in the credits. I've listened about 20 times so far. Love it.
Me too, just watched the film and then this song, I can't believe that I've never heard of Karen Dalton.....well I have now and I will be listening to a lot more of Karen's songs!
Usually, I don't write comments on TH-cam videos. But this song has a special place in my heart. I'm thinking about a particular thing I'm planning to do while listening to this. Greetings from Kurdistan!
Oswald and Victor....our name will live forever
Thank you to the penguin for this song
The Penguin has such a great soundtrack. Karen Dalton, The Cure, SWANS....whoever did the soundtrack has great taste.

You have good taste
Take me, take me to your darkest room
Close every window and bolt every door
The very first moment I heard your voice
I'd be in darkness no more
Take me to your most barren desert
A thousand miles from the nearest sea
The very first moment I saw your smile
It would be like heaven to me
There are not any mountain too rugged to climb
No desert too barren to cross
Darlin', if you would just show a sign
Of love, I could bear any loss
Take me to Siberia
And the coldest weather of the winter time
And it would be just like spring in California
As long as I knew you were mine
Yes, it would be just like spring in California
As long as I knew you were mine
Take me, take me
