Akuma in this current iteration feels like the pinnacle of shoto gameplay. The best of everything they're actually capable of. Amazing neutral overall, strong buttons, big damage, strongest shoto fireball, very versatile due to his complete kit etc. I actually like the way they balanced him. He doesn't feel unfair or brain dead even with his loaded kit. Back then he'd always have something stupid to rely on if shit hits the fan. Now there's no overpowered unreactable bs that can't be punished or counterplayed or no comeback mechanic. He's just flat out strong. I absolutely don't miss when he'd constantly move around the screen without consequence, now if anything's done wrong he's punished for it so he's actually playing the game now.
To be honest his HP is way more of a weakness than people give it credit. I wont be shocked if less people switch to Akuma than anticipated. Sure his damage is great, sure he has the best tool kit of all shotos, but you can't 80-85% Ken or Ryu with 1 CA combo.
@@DKarkarov yea I've noticed that I get punished way harder than the average character for missing a dp. He really demands perfection. I remember this time when I got hit by a whiff punish combo on round 3 and the opponent meatied with a neutral jump, I tried to dp and messed it up and got mp then the opponent's jump hp did a pc and I died from the combo. Couldn't even get salty because that was fucking funny af. But ofcourse I got hit by a fireball or two, I just didn't expect to die so early.

Akuma is NOT for the faint of heart.
But i would say his damage does need a PINCH of a buff, im talking like 3% or 2% but i feel Akuma just doesn't hit as hard as he should.
his fireball game is too much. He out Ryu in being Ryu and gives Guile pressure.
Everything else is fine though
@@HellecticMojo a lot of people, including pros compare the two alot and I get your point. I feel it's justified since he lost his regular red fireball game. His m red fireball was good enough to pressure Guile back then so I guess they wanted to compensate for that.

One hit plus level 3 at minus 25% health caused 75% damage... A person with no knowledge of game design can clearly see there is something wrong with that picture.

If this was lore accurate, Akuma would Lv3 Marisa like 10 times until her head fused whit the floor.

Marisa gave me the touch of death with a slab of snu snu yesterday I'm glad to see Tokido getting sloppy 1st and second. Her damn AAs made me stay down like a dog
desk had a side switch combo with gouki; i think it was something like back roundhouse (the launcher) - drive rush - special move. I think he used OD palm move but maybe a shoryuken or tatsumaki would work too
I will never feel bad about two touching someone as Marisa because people will 50:50 me to death with nothing but strike throw and all I can do is pray and guess.
Who's doing these subs? This is strikingly similar to another channel I watch that does the same type of videos FGCtranslated I think
I like Gief vs Akuma matchup too. Akuma can and will hit you a lot. You only need a few chances to kill Akuma. The tension is fun
You can side switch with back HK then drive rush into dp or whatever.
With all the damage an optimal ish combo into a normal CA can do.. there needs to be some more incentive to use Raging Demon .. because it's currently annoying to try and set up. This matchup is a great example.
So demon after drive rush lp, only works if they press a button or tech right?
It has to come out as a link,not a cancel to go into the demon grab. Essentially you frame trap with light punch which forces the opponent to block, and then demon while they're blocking.if they press or tech after lp, they will get clipped by the demon as drive rush lp leaves akuma +3 on block.only way to avoid it is to hold up immediately after the jab, which is unlikely to happen
Additionally, only way a canceled demon can connect is if it hits the opponent first as part of a combo
What about zangief?
zangief got bad scaling he has to touch akuma 3 times unlike marissa 2(unless sa3 in which just twice but at that point marissa just need 1 touch to kill akuma)

Actually touching the enemy in the first place is the real challenge. sure she does a lot of dmg, but that's if you have the resources and the right situation and the the ability to land it. here she looks crazy cus she's fighting akuma. Although it doesn't mean shes not scary in the right hands, but u could really say that about any character
Obviously. No one wants to get touched by a good player who knows how to execute high damage combos, but Akuma players know why it is best to avoid getting touched by a good Marisa player

To me Akuma need Teleport to phase through with that low health.
Akuma seems risky
With all those powerful moves and options, it comes at a cost of low HP.
Meaning grapplers will have no problem taking Akuma down if players aren’t careful.
Always has been. Youre scared of your opponent but they are scared of you.
Honestly a fair trade. If how good his toolbox is, he needs somekinda weakness to balance out the char.

Why Akuma's juggle combo always end with a sweep? He always follow-up with dragon punch in past SF series. Capcom, what the hell happened?

Because it depends on if the opponent is crouching or not. If they are crouching you have to end in DP because Tatsu will whiff but the Tatsu sweep route gives better Oki (closer to opponent for meaty overhead for instance).
He’s had this combo in SFV as well & it’s strictly due to better oki . You can still DP/Tatsu as your combo ender but you cannot apply your best pressure with those Enders . They’re going for optimal routes; not sauce
It’ll get patched to be more consistent, right now sweep is just better

i hate raging demon in this game man, literally not usable unless you land a combo. Can't buffer in between normals is such a nerf. And the worse part even if you counter someone's CA3 with demon, you are fucked even though the second attacker always lands their CA
Dash up demon is still a thing . While not as strong as previous options, that option exists & is very powerful if the opponent is properly conditioned
You can also Kara Demon
You can drive rush demon as well but you need drive meter for that so its optional but useless with no meter
IMO Capcom needs to address 2 mayor issues with akuma, air hadoukens disappear when his touched and not having invulnerability on his teleport is simply dumb.

@sean2848 it's true, but it takes all ur resources, and a lot of the time, the high dmg combos aren't possible because of not having enough resources. And the end, the enemy gets put In burn out, and if u can't pull the situation back while thier in burnout, then ur just bad. And being in burnout in high level just means death unless ur a God at zoning and when it came to marisa, they nerfed her burnout options hard. Sf6 is all about resource management and if u can't keep up with it then ggs
Akuma is not weak this match up should not even be close. Any stray hit should be confirmed into sending Marisa full screen and using fireballs till she dies or you get your drive gauge back.
No need to play guessing games on their wake up when akumas strongest trait is being a master of many trades. He’s got great pressure and combos, only lacking in some damage but that’s fine due to his great mixups and zoning. Low health pool but atleast he’s got an invincible reversal and good supers too.
Although akumas greatest strength comes from his fire ball and his special that sends an enemy full screen. He’s a strictly better JP and guile.
Playing him solely as a rush down beast with good mixups is just wrong. You are playing right into your own weakness. You can’t get two tapped if the opponent isn’t even near you.

He's absurdly broken, I don't get the complaint about the low HP, that's his only weakness that's ingrained into the character. The other weakness is the player using him, it's actually quite sad since I knew he'd be top 1, but I didn't expect them to make him tiers above the second strongest character that being Luke, Ken or JP, whatever you want to pick is fine.

He's not broken lol. He'd be broken if he could use air fireball while jumping back, and the teleport was still invincible, but they aren't anymore.
@@ilikestamps2978 If T0 equal to broken, than Akuma is very likely one of the broken character(Along with Ken, Chun. Aki and Ryu could be T0 in S2 too, after 3 months we should know the answer).
Broken or not is relative, not absolute. If Tokido do chose Akuma as his main, that mean Akuma is T0
I think akuma take sway to much damage, his health reduction is to much.
It's a fair enough way to balance him.
if you feel that way about akuma then he is not the character for you. that means your play style is mainly rush down and try to nonstop pressure or you are constantly running.
you need to play a perfect balance of both with akuma, if not you will get run over.
Nah his demon flip needs to get buffed and the dash teleport should be invicible to projectiles

Akuma has loads of strong options and very high damage combos that are easy to execute. The low health is necessary to punish you for making poor decisions.
Aluma is WEAK , his damage is Low , he is nowhere to be broken , and its not only marisa but almost any character two hit kill him , im rrally disspointed
E os golpes dele que praticamente todos são negativos, bloqueados ou não, só o chute forte que é positivo, tô jogando com ele, é divertido, mas acho que vou voltar pro meu mano Ken ou meu mano Ryu.
Ele deveria ter também 2 hadoukens aéreos, sem contar o teleporte que agora não é mais invulnerável.

lol Akuma has the best buttons and walk speed in the game right now. He’s always had low health so this nothing new.
Low damage? He can do 7k with CA and has good meter-less damage.
Calling Akuma “bad” when he’s still being figured out while still having ridiculous tools is actually insane 😂
@@DaGRAV3 Just look at Ken, a character with awesome tournament results, as good as Luke(better than luke in first half year) have so many buff in S2
This story tell us as a FG player, downplay your main is a must if you do not want your character get nerf. Ken players are so united when downplaying their main, best of the best, everyone FG player should learn from them
