The other OVA, "Memory Snow", takes place right before this one. Those ice sculptures in the garden at the end are explained there. Chronologically, both take place between episodes 11 and 12. It's the conclusion of the second arc - the date Subaru was aiming for before that break-up in the Capital.
By the way, there is also a series called "Re:Zero Break Time" that provides some extra content about what happened during/after each episode of both seasons. It's canon.
When they say "half-demon" they mean "half-elf". It's implied they're the same thing earlier due to the stigma of the Witch of Envy being a half-elf, so now all of them are stigmatized as "demons".
It's never mentioned Half what she is. We only know for 100% sure that she is half Elf. Otherwise, she should be either Half Elf/Human Or Half Elf/Witch.
Puck and Emilia both use FIRE magic not ice. It's just they're removing heat from things instead of adding it, the magical elements here are a bit more scientific than you think. Water and fire magic can both create ice, with water of course it's directly creating ice out of mana but with fire it's removing heat from the surroundings with fire mana. Water magic is also for healing because it also means working with life itself not just water exactly, and earth magic is obvious except it can be used for niche uses like restoration magic so you can probably more generally define it as working on inanimate objects vs healing water magic with life. And then the use of light and dark/yin and yang is explained a bit more further in, but Subaru at the mo views it as debuffs for blinding and weakening opponents xD

For how perceptive Faroh usually is, I quite enjoy her getting bamboozled in this series. Though it's more that she's reading too deep in some things instead of taking it at face value. Though, this is the first time I saw someone ship Puck with Emilia and I was legit cringing a bit at that lmaooo
I think Puck was Created by a Witch. Maybe the Witch of Envy? Or he was around for a long time and lived in that Forest with the Elves. Cant say to much would spoil.

I think her power in this ova is going to be foreshadowing for current arcs now. But yeah the thing is she was always nerfed because she needs emotional stability to be safe using any of that.
