I just realized, the Protagonist is called Baby-face because due to being what he is, he's never taken a hit that would scar him deeply. Most war veterans would have some kind of injury that would tell people, *they've been through hell.* But not him. His scars never truly set in stone. The only ones he has now, are in his mind.
I actually just checked the wiki, and it says that he’s 22, and the guys at the bar say the war ended 7 years ago, so yeah, definitely some kind of child soldier situation
@@BIGJUNK1MILLION Yep, that's why no one believed him when he shows his medal, he's way too young to be a veteran. +I bet that they weren't actually allowed to actively interact with the "normal" on-duty soldiers as well (except for a few situations where the soldier was actually a "Gamma project" soldier and was slightly older). The ending showed that he did wear an outfit that covered up his face as well. I do think that on the art we have of the game, the MC looks a lot older usually (as someone who's in his 30's), which was slightly misleading initially.
@@BIGJUNK1MILLION it may not be the case for other gamma nulls but it definitely is for Zero's, either his psychiatrist or that guy in the TV screen told him he was taken into the project when he was a child

The vets went fucking ballistic. There was this one guy with a katana, holding it in his hands, shaking. When another "The end of the road" started playing, he flipped his table and straight up yelled: "YOU'RE FUCKING SUBHUMAN"
The thing about hearing 'The End of the Road' twice isn't that you think 'Oh, someone's playing The End of the Road again.' it's 'Huh, I must be on Chronos.'
Now that I think about it, the Third District was probably given to war vets, as specialized honorary living space where they weren't in danger from civilians. But then, the whole place got trashed by protestors and vet-haters, as punishment for the war. When the dust had settled, it just became a Detroit for vets with nowhere to go and junkies who just want to wither away undisturbed.
From what I could tell I think it’s more the governments doing. They don’t seem to keep up the place well and with the bridge collapsing, and the coolant leaking into the power supply I think the government wants to forget the vets ever existed.
For a scene that I consider a bit forgettable... It surprisingly has one of the best tracks of the game. I seriously didn't remember this song even existed. Also surprisingly good for doing homework while listening to it, thank you for extending it!
the more I watch this scene, the more I realize how incredible and important it was. But I just didn't pay it any mind before because I understood next to nothing to all the intricacie of the story. Guess I'll have to replay the game.
I always get reminded by it in existential times , it just reminds me that I'm probably the only one that has heard this music and played k0 in this entire country
At the part where the veteran talks about the government combat drug program, you're given the opportunity to interrupt him. You don't even have to wait for him to finish his sentence to ask if he's talking about Chronos. A NULL can see the future, after all. There's no reason Zero wouldn't know the man's sentence before he finished it.
I'm very drunk now, it's 3 am. I stand on the balcony, smoke and cry. I just don't understand why I'm not worthy of love. I am a young, smart, strong and handsome man, but I just can't find a girlfriend or boyfriend. There are a lot of people in the world who are uglier or less smart than me, but they have love that I don't have. I act like a gentleman and everyone says I would be a nice boyfriend, but I've been single for 3 years now. I just don't understand why I'm worse than others.
Luck and, sometimes wisdom, only this two things decide who is having relationship and who isn't, but this would be better for you if you won't think about it this much, at least I think so
As I'd say, according to my experience, actually nobody looks at you as a product, thinking are you worthy or not. If the problem is in your libido (you should be honest to yourself) - you can search, meet and so on without thoughts. (As for me, I can't handle this, in my mind there can't be any of temporal relationship, I just can't be less than serious here.) If you're searching for something like **love** - well, this is a matter of time. We are here as 8 billion human mass, and there're surely like 1000+ people that are perfect for you, I'll bet! The thing is that you can't waste that much energy and time to check every person you meet, so... I think, you could try just meet more people than you do, visit groups of people from your sphere(s) of interest aaand... maybe, support balance between waiting and acting, it can't be said correctly, you could feel it. I wish you luck. Everyone deserve their love. This world lacks of it.
