Air start no Start SD70ACe

- Watch me be bewildered and confused as an EMD SD70ACe fails to auto-start. After my confusion I decided the electric fuel pump wasn't working. I checked all the breakers I could find, but nothing was tripped. So it became BNSFs problem.

That failed starting sound was spooky weird...
I've never heard that before 😂 I'm used to them just instantly starting. Interesting

Thats the railroads job, and they don't do that.
This particular engine is trail-only. BNSF banned this particular variant of the SD70ACe from leading trains over a decade ago. No need to clean the windows 😉

I guess when it’s out of air you’d have to bring out a pretty big air compressor or lay out a long air hose to the shop? I’ve got an air start on my Caterpillar powered Kenworth and if you run out of air you can hook up an airline to a couple of tires. Bit hard to do that with steel wheels on a locomotive haha. We’ve got SD70ACe’s at the iron ore mines where I work in Western Australia.

I can hear another locomotive running which is probably supplying air pressure for this one.
@@TheOneWhoPatsnope. Just another one idling nearby. They keep air located somewhere just for the Autostart, and the problem here isn’t the AES, it’s something to do with the engine.

@@vault20 Yeah I work for a firm that contracts with BN, our main job is just to fuel, inspect, and clean the locos. But we also operate on a private lot, and handle switching cars out for the Carmen to fix, and spotting the train up to unload and such. Saves BN from having to send a crew for 10 minute jobs.
