Bashambauer is a great nickname. The German maestro also started out as a midfielder but was incredibly versatile. He made his name playing in the centre of defence but like Basham FB was used as an attacking centre back. Beckenbauer used to make loads of forward runs and opposition defences struggled to pick him up resulting in Beckenbauer also scoring plenty of goals. He was one of the world greats.
An old work colleague said to me just after we won promotion to the prem "theres some players we will have to let go and Bash is one of em" so at that point we had a slight disagreement,guess who was proved right,Bash is a true living legend at the Lane his attitude is 1st class,everyone loves Bash.⚔👏⚔👏⚔👏⚔👏⚔
