I'm so pleased that I got to see him live 9 times in my life, I miss him and his jokes he brought me and so many other people so much happiness, always cheered me up when I was down. Rest in peace Doddy hope you are making them laugh up in heaven 🙏❤🌹
I had the pleasure of seeing him live more than once. It was a joy to behold seeing a master craftsman at work. One of the few comedians who could tell the same jokes and you would still howl with laughter even if you knew the punchline. Last October I saw him live and had front row seats. I was so glad I did as both my partner and I were part of his back and forth interaction with audience members. It is something that I will treasure forever. The master has gone and there will never be anyone of that calibre again. He was the last of the old fashioned variety acts and will be sorely missed.

I was lucky enough to be his sidekick, straight man at The New Brighton Pavillion.I had to walk on stage before having the hairy fairy coat & hat put on me by Ken.The audience were histerical in seconds before he realised that the hat didnt fit and fell down over my eyes,resting on my nose.He quickly grabbed the back and kept lifting the brim above my eyes and dropping it back to the audiences fits of laughter.The only trouble is that I forgot to put my hands in my pocket.He soon turned it round to his advantage by saying.I was going to say to you," what are you doing down there ? counting your money". He was an absolute comedy genious ! Its so strange to think that him and Cilla Black are lying litterally 5 minutes from here.
Went to see him at hull November 5 he was fantastic 90 years old incredible I am going again with my dad again to see him in stoke on December 16 he is just brilliant still, don't know how he does it. Your a brick 😂😂😂

I saw him at Morecambe this year, but didn't get to stay till the end :(
I work at the theater he was at, we were sitting chatting in the green room until just after 2am. He really is a lovely guy.
He needs to put the microphone nearer the puppet, we can’t hear him very well.
