    Dude, you are like Terry Ellis but after 6 or 7 energy drinks or fresh back from an all night rave party, wink..wink 😂 You must be exhausted after this review from just your arm animations, let alone your poor vocal chords 😢 Awesome looking speakers and I will try to demo a pair, but only in that gorgeous blue👌 Best wishes to you and hope the Mrs. is well soon ! PS: Breathe in and then out, in and out....

    No energy drinks were harmed in the making of this video.

    Good to see you back. Metal tweeters and woofers have never appealed to me apart from the Amphion Argon1, which out-perform the LS50 Meta. The R3 Meta, however, have received warm feedback and their open and airy presentation and easy to drive characteristics, make them very competitive below £2000. The Buchard S400 MKII currently rules the roost at the 2 grand thtrshold. Hence, an ABX comparison is much warranred. Did you try them with that budget Chinese tube amplifier you reviewed a while back?

      I was abit the same with metal tweters I always seemed to here a metallic sound from them , I will be honest with you I never really rated the ls50 I thought they were over hyped , hence why they have never made it onto my channel , but with the r3 meta that metallic sound is gone and at there price point they are very hard to beat , I actually blew up my Chinese tube amp , I put my nobsound bluetooth amp power into it by mistake , and vice verser so I have no chinese amps anymore, a mistake I won't make again . I said in the video that I wanted to try a budget £40 amp from China to see how they sound , I just need to buy one lol

    I have the non meta R3's and have to say they are amazing and exactly as you have described the metas, I'm not in the market for the meta's but i am curious about them just to know if there really is much of a difference.
    The only thing i would say about the original R3's and i would say this probably appilies to the meta's as well is the more power you can give them the better they are and being 4ohm rated make sure your amp is going to be able to cope, for reference purposes i run my R3's with a noughties Rega Cursa-3 pre-amp and 2 Rega Exon-3 mono blocks which are rated at 125W @ 8ohms and 225 @ 4ohms.

    Would these be decent for TV/movies with a suitable amp ? (living room 40m2 size room) ? these reviews are amazing but the technical stuff way over my head.

    Good review, but I'm exhausted now. I have a pair of 6yr old R300 speakers, will these be a significant upgrade?

    How would you compare these to the elac solano you reviewed earlier? Do the r3s in terms of bass have more of it due to their size?

    • @FatpigeonAudioReviews
      @FatpigeonAudioReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the r3s are a more rounded balanced speaker with fantastic texture to the bass and control , but with the right song at the right volume the bass will slap you clean in the face 👌, the elacs do go low but some times it not as well controlled as I'd like and after alot of time with them the bass seems to always be there , even on non bass tracks , with the r3s it's a cleaner more detailed sound and the bass is only there when it's needed

    • @kazzzer4876
      @kazzzer4876 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FatpigeonAudioReviews Thank you for your reply, I have had the solano at my place for a while and it largely coincides with your observations I also had the ls50 meta which I enjoyed for a few years however currently I have the elac vela bs 404 playing at my place and I know that these speakers will stay with me for a very long time, the amt tweeter is just in a different league it definitely has more space, imaging and detail than in the solano and the bass which in these speakers is the kind I have not yet heard in bookshelves

    How do they pair with the Audiolab A9000?

    • @FatpigeonAudioReviews
      @FatpigeonAudioReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very well , they are an excellent speaker that like I said in the video pair well with all amps we tried and the 9000a was one of them , fantastic detail with smooth forward mids and a very well textured bass
