In this video, the speaker explains four important concepts/ elements that can enable Everyday Creativity.
    1. Divergent Thinking: Creativity is the measurement of how divergent thinking we have and tools/techniques can improve divergent thinking. For Example: Many anagrams can be created from a word which is written in a circle than horizontally.
    2. Courage: The pursuit of creativity requires courage to defy the rule. We don’t take chances where our reputation or life is at stake. Less often people take an idea and revolve the whole world around us. For Example:
    a. Galileo brought the concept of Telescope and proved that Sun is the center of Universe but at the price of his life.
    b. Thomas Edison invented Bulb and fought legal battles to get electric grids and sockets set up to make it work.
    3. Latent Inhibitions: We are the biggest critics of ourselves and this hampers creativity. Like in the activity of applications of a water bottle, we often think of practical applications as we doubt ourselves.
Research indicates that there is a commonality between schizophrenics and creative people which is latent inhibition i.e. their inhibitions are very low and they receive all the information and don’t judge immediately. The two findings that support this idea are -
    a. The famous of the mathematicians were also famous philosophers or great artists as they allowed divergent information to flow through them
    b. To generate creative output, you need people who complement each other or they must have a very high working memory.
    4. Opposable Mind: Creative people are able to store opposing thoughts in their mind simultaneously and conceive a third thought. One of the traits of creative people hence could be postponing the judgement.
The speaker concludes the video by saying that to be creative every day you need courage to practice divergent thinking, latent inhibition and opposable mind.

wow this is so interesting...specially as I want to start a group in my area and so many people immediately said "oh I cant do art"....they closed their minds before they even start...I will try to replicate some of this info to enable them to see past the block in their own heads.....courage is all....x
